AB whines again

you spin not knowing how to catch a ball as willingness to learn. THat is definately a slant..

Is that his fault or the coaches who are playing him, obvisusly he coudl catch something if they played him

Don't forget that nothing happens without Mr. Jones' input.

Like with Carter, Jones had some emotional investments tied to Bryant as well and I am sure it was not an easy decision.

But when a player forces an issue, sometimes you have to do what you can.

I am sure the Bengals regret unloading Corey Dillon, and I am sure there are times when Minnesota might miss Moss. But sometimes the lockerroom presence is underrated and not factored in by us fans on the outside. And let's be careful here, the talent is not in the Dillon/Moss league either. Otherwise, we would have exhibited more patience. If Coach Parcells was not willing to overlook the immaturity, we should not fret about it.

When I read statements like in the article where he is talking about "speaking out" and so forth, that suggests to me he is in fact NOT maturing and is still doing things his way and still has good deal of growing up to do:

"Every year I have been in the league I've gone through changes," Bryant said. "My first year, I had (Dave) Campo, the next year we got Bill (Parcells), and the next year I had Bill for a half a season. I came here with Butch (Davis) and his staff, and now this year I have Romeo (Crennel). So every year I'm looking for continuity, a consistent offense, a consistent quarterback, that's all."

Nothing is his fault. It is the system. The number of coaches. The lack of continuity. Poor QBing.

Same old Antonio.

Deflecting blame and not being a man. There are very few situations in this league that lend itself to the best continuity, stable coaching and good QBing. There comes a time and a place to be accountable and he has never demonstrated that kind of self-awareness.

If he ever makes it to the Pro Bowl........................ :bang2:.

This could turn out to be the worst move BP made considering both our starting WRs are lacking in some aspects (Keyshawn - Speed and Glenn - the stones to take a pounding over 16 games) and the fact that they are both on the downside of their careers.

Parcells was too old to deal with Bryant, but 2 years from now if Bryant is dominating and Parcells is gone, I'll be pissed. :banghead:

Dominating? That's a pretty big IF considering he is no more than a #2 guy in this league. ;)

both bryant and morgan are flawed receivers.

one player, AB (entering his 4th season), needs to become a more disciplined route-runner and adhere to the play as it is drawn up by the coaches. 86 the free-lancing. IMO, extended repetition within the same offensive system (for a change) would make this fairly likely to occur.

the other player, QM (now entering his 5th campaign), needs to learn how to "position his hands" to catch the stupid football. as someone pointed out earlier (i believe it was juke), this is the most remedial of exercises and pertains to a function that is soooo fundamental to the art of receiving - that one is left scratching one's head as to how the deficiency wasn't previously addressed.

emotional maturity is a slow arriving with bryant. but gimme the guy who already knows how to catch the pill.

If there's one player I'd love for us to have still, it's Bryant. Irvin didn't explode until his 4th year (granted he had injuries as an excuse.) I expect big things from AB this year.

Why did Bryant rank among one of the worst WRs in the league in terms of drop ratio in 2003 if he is so superior to Morgan in terms of catching the ball?

Quincy Morgan is a higher rated WR than Antonio Bryant on the 2k6 roster update for ESPN NFL 2k5 for the Xbox as found on codejunkies.com.

But I think I'd rather have AB than QM at this point.

Interesting...Wasn't Morgan taken higher than AB in the draft. I think neither has lived up to expectations.

Its a wash in my book.

Plus BP didn't want a guy in the locker room who openly defied him.

Yeah, Morgan was a high 2nd rounder. AB was a low 2nd rounder.

You're right ... either way, neither have lived up to expectations.

Though I have to say, AB has been a greater disappointment. He's like the hot guidette you've been trying to chase ... totally hot, absolutely stunning, but nothing more than a tease.

Yea those oustanding catches he makes are great, butthe amount of drops he has on easy passes and hard out weigh it MOrgan was set on such a high platform as Bryant so it didnt fall far, and still has a chance ot get up

And then again, it could turn out to be one of the best moves BP made. See, that's just it... we don't know. Just like we don't know whether anyone will truly be sick of hearing "Rothlesberger to Miller." ;)

AB was a problem and BP shipped him off. He indeed has talent, but he's not too bright and his attitude is poor, to put it mildly.

Let's see him in a pro-bowl as a Brown before banging our collective heads, please.

So, have all the people who said Bill Parcells would rue the day that he released Derek Ross stepped up and admitted how wrong they were?

This article reminds me a lot of the Terrell Owens articles last year, where he came out and said he's just misunderstood. All of his problems in San Francisco just stem from how badly he wanted to win. Wait until he gets to Philly, you'll see he's not that bad of a guy. He and McNabb are best buddies. Can't wait to work with him.

Except, Antonio isn't a third of the player that TO is.

Actually I have to take issue here. From everything I've read, Antonio Bryant is indeed very bright. However, being intelligent doesn't necessarily ensure a good attitude.

Someone can be "intelligent" AND "not too bright" at the same time, if you ask me. They aren't necessarily mutually exclusive attributes.

Please read ABs quotes in the original article.

being bright doesnt mean you have common sense. or football sense for that matter

When Mike Tyson uses big words, he sounds intelligent. That still does not disguise the fact he is a thug.

Question to those who are still pining away fro the next Michael Irvin---

Do you miss the idea of Antonio Bryant or the reality?

Do you miss the two great plays he made in his Dallas career?

Or do you miss the inconsistency, the poutiness and the attitude?

well said. I always remember those plays he made, but then I remember how many drops he had, and how many excuses he had. He's #3 in Clevland too. He's about to see how a real young WR should act, Braylon is going to make AB realize what an idiot he is.
