I can't believe this is 30+ pages long. I'm not gonna read every page. I just don't see where the story is at here. So what if Roy was playing Mr. Obvious with the media. It read as relatively harmless to me.

I don't get it myself. Roy said the truth. Didn't tell a lie. I don't get the uproar.

Romo: Cowboys core too strong to be divided

David Moore/Reporter

Quarterback Tony Romo fielded several questions about his inability to click with Roy Williams. After answering two of them, he was asked why he believes Williams' numbers are so low.

"I don't look at the numbers,'' Romo said. "I don't know what would be good numbers and what wouldn't be.

"You know, we've been through this before with people trying to intersect and divide us as a football team. This team is too strong from the core.

"I know the media is going to make certain things appear what they may not have actually been or things of that nature. This team is too committed to winning and too committed to improving to let anything like that or anything you guys may present to us divide this team.

"We're just going to keep improving and getting better and we'll be ready to go this weekend.''

Roy Williams, Tony Romo throwing after practice

Todd Archer/Reporter

In an attempt to jump start their production, Roy Williams and Tony Romo stayed late after Wednesday's practice to improve their on-field chemistry.

"We worked extra after practice yesterday and we're going to do the same thing today," Williams said. "That'll be our trend for the rest of the year until that light switches over."

That's a good thing but I know some people will say, Why haven't they been doing that all along? Big deal. It's important that they recognize it now and they're doing something about it. Much has been made about what Williams said Wednesday - too much in my opinion - and some have painted him as another Terrell Owens.

"I'm not saying it can't be fixed," Williams said. "That's what we're doing. I'm not a T.O. I'm not trying to be a T.O. I'm happy to win. I've said that a hundred times. I don't understand why people don't say, 'OK.' I'm a football player, and I'm trying to get this thing working."

Just some food for thought, if you take away all the Roy targets, Romo's completion percentage jumps from 60% to 65%.

I don't care whose fault it is, as of right now, Roy starting is hurting this team.

Classic.

How can anyone blame Romo for this, he completes 60 percent of his passes, has been a probowl caliber player since he entered the league, and has no problems throwing to undrafted Austin and Hurd.

I'm sure that throwing your QB under the bus helps,,, it really helped the last guy,,,

I don't recall TO throwing Romo under the bus. His issue was with Garrett.

It is good that they finally started working on it - I'm not sure why it took this big media blowup to get them throwing some extra balls given the putrid level of production going on 16 games now.

Roy needs to just shut his yap and work hard and he will be fine by me until the end of the season. At that point, a business decision needs to be made on whether to release him in a cap free year.

I would say that if they don't have this thing turned around by the end of the year, they never will and we should part ways because he can't function as a #2 WR here due to his ego, big salary and even bigger pie hole.

I know he threw Johnson under the bus at one point ("I can't throw the ball to myself" or something), but I think most of us would volunteer to drive that bus.

I think he definitely turned on Romo and Witten in the locker room, which is infinitely worse than media quotes.

This is not what the Team needs right now and Williams should be Horse Collar Tackled for bring it up. Things like this can affect both Romo and Austin, so when I see this it makes me think hes not a Team Player !!!

Cowboys' Williams puzzled by lack of chemistry with Romo
Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams said Wednesday his lack of production shouldn't be viewed as proof he can't be the team's No. 1 wideout. "I'm the No. 1 receiver," Williams said. "But things are just going No. 2's way." Through seven games, the "No. 2," Miles Austin, has 26 receptions for a team-high 563 yards and six touchdowns. In his first three starts, Austin set an NFL record with 482 yards. In his 16 games with the Cowboys, Williams has 33 catches for 447 yards and three TDs. Williams worked tirelessly during the offseason to get on the same page with Tony Romo, but there's been no payoff. Austin, meanwhile, has flourished. Williams suggested he would be doing the same if only Romo could deliver catchable balls. "He gets the ball thrown correctly his way," Williams said of Austin. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody who's been here, (their) balls are there. Our footballs (thrown from Romo to Williams) are everywhere right now." -- San Antonio Express-News

I think the timing is off between the two simply due to how RW runs routes. I don't think that the routes are lazy, but they do look to be a bit staggered.

The rest of the WR corp runs very precise cuts and angles; I think RW's long stride works against him and these cuts are more telegraphed.

I would like to see more fly patterns and long balls go to Roy where his attributes (size, hands, jumping ability) can be utilized more effectively than slants or curls where his footwork is not as effective.

He's so slow that those won't work either. If Roy Williams burns you down the field, just give up.

when did 4.38 become slow? He may not be quick in and out of breaks but being slow is something RW is not.

For some reason 4.38 speed is slow when it comes to Roy Williams.I have a feeling Roy could run a 4.09 fourty and still be considered a turtle by some.

Since when did track times mean anything on the field?

I'm certain Miles Austin didn't run a 40 that fast, but would any reasonable person argue that he's slower than Roy Williams?

When talking go routs and post routs RW has speed enough to beat his man. Your claim that RW can't beat people deep is stupid and false. Quickness in and out of breaks being able to accelate out of the breaks RW is not as good as Austin. Austin shows better quickness coming out of his routs. There is a differance between quickness and speed your claim was RW was slow that is non sense but it is not shocking coming from you.
