I guess free agency has to be completely over before people understand that there is not some tsunami of cheap talent coming in to save the offseason.

You can complain all you wish. The Cowboys FO is not going to go back to doing
crazy deals in FA. Those days are over. The draft is what they are focused on and
filling in holes with available "cheap" players. You might as well get used to it!

And I'd love to hear the plan they got going on in Philly. Signing Murray makes the McCoy move very confusing. It seems Chip is just winging it right now with no plan in place.

I just wonder how many people who are applauding the dollars saved with Murray will switch gears when they turn around and pay juskt as high of a price for Peterson.

AP is a different breed of RB.

Smartest move by Jerry...ever.

Either Jerry suddenly and radically changed the way he operates after 25 years, or he isn't the main power source in Big D these days. My money is on Stephen / Garrett are making the primary decisions now days.

In the words of Michael Irvin yesterday:

“There is a mentality that goes on with a certain group of guys and DeMarco fits the mentality of what Dallas is doing.”

“A lot of people…are talking out of their booty if they think they could stick just anybody back there.”

Demarco was just "anybody" (often injured "anybody" at that) until last year, conveniently his contract year.

I will applaud it and it here's why. No matter what you may think of AP off the field, ON the field, the 2 players aren't even close. I like Murray A LOT, but he's NOT AP. AP has been in "that" discussion with the Emmitt's, Brown's, Sanders, Payton's of NFL lore for some time now. Murray has not. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AP is a HOF RB.

Lose a couple more players to free agency, I'm sure. I'll say it right now, Stephen Jones is an absolute idiot for offering Murray only $5 million per. This will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in team history and some of you will have to face yourselves in the mirror and admit you haven't got a clue about what it takes to build a championship team.

Bring on Gurley and I'll look in the mirror and smile like a "big dog".
Now go stand in the corner and stew some more!

This seems like a classic Cowboys move under Jerry that works. It's not like we have a hardline stance on not resigning Murray and paying age long term. We are willing to do it. We're just not willing to be the highest bidder. So Philly forces us to make the eventual right decision in letting Murray go.

We wanted to do the wrong thing. Someone else just wanted to do it more.

I completely agree with this statement.

As an aside, maybe the Cowboys will acchoir Matthews after the Eagles sign Murray.

This takes the cake. You ***** and moan about Murray's supposed injury history and fumbling issues, claiming he is vastly overrated, but you're all in on THIS guy? You are rapidly losing any remaining credibility you had.

If DM signs with Philly JJ better go get AD really fast. And I'd smear it into Murray's face with a good deal too. I've supported DM during this entire thing, but the Phiily thing rubs me the wrong way. They are the enemy!!! I will hate DM as much as I hated Shady. He will be a trader by choice. I will laugh as we watch his career go's the same way every Eagles career go's. RINGLESS

The Cowboys aren't in the appeasing players business. That only leads to bad contracts and being smothered in dead money. They're trying to run a football team that can have long term sustained success. I salute being reluctant to hand out big FA deals to anyone.

At some point, you have to pay good players. There aren't that many Hall of Fame caliber players in the league. Dez is one.
