AP is a different breed of RB.

Agreed, just as long as it is not longer then a 3 year contract. Peterson is the one RB I would give $7M a year too.

But I don't think he accepts that, I am fine with focusing those dollars on D, so you can draft a RB early.

This seems like a classic Cowboys move under Jerry that works. It's not like we have a hardline stance on not resigning Murray and paying age long term. We are willing to do it. We're just not willing to be the highest bidder. So Philly forces us to make the eventual right decision in letting Murray go.

We wanted to do the wrong thing. Someone else just wanted to do it more.

Finally, a few brave souls who look at this the right way!

Lose a couple more players to free agency, I'm sure. I'll say it right now, Stephen Jones is an absolute idiot for offering Murray only $5 million per. This will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in team history and some of you will have to face yourselves in the mirror and admit you haven't got a clue about what it takes to build a championship team.

Is that you Chip?

running backs are a dime a dozen, overpaying for a one year wonder is stupid, When other teams were looking to sign Williams off our practice squad during the year and he didn't leave and Dallas resigned him, I thought Murray's days were numbered

I will applaud it and it here's why. No matter what you may think of AP off the field, ON the field, the 2 players aren't even close. I like Murray A LOT, but he's NOT AP. AP has been in "that" discussion with the Emmitt's, Brown's, Sanders, Payton's of NFL lore for some time now. Murray has not. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AP is a HOF RB.

AP is NOT a FA. Minn. is not going to release him until at least June.
They want to keep him for less money not release him.

Demarco was just "anybody" (often injured "anybody" at that) until last year, conveniently his contract year.

He was a "just anybody" that broke Adrian Peterson's records at Oklahoma... averaged nearly 5 yards per carry... broke Jim Brown's long standing
record for consecutive 100 yard games...... he may be gone, he may not... no matter what side of the Murray discussion people are on, calling him
"just anybody" is misinformed and lacks football knowledge.

At some point, you have to pay good players. There aren't that many Hall of Fame caliber players in the league. Dez is one.

Dez is getting paid. He will get paid next year to. Dallas has decided it's not good business to
give out 100mil+ 6yr deals for 27yr old receivers. Nope, not gonna happen.

If Matthews is signed, then Murray, how on earth can they justify $12 million or more on two running backs? No wonder Eagles fans are going crazy.

Shady McCoy must be really scratching his head.

It still defeats the idea that a) anyone can run behind this line and b) you don't pay a running back big money when the tread has worn down.

Can't argue with that. You can't assemble a roster with a fixed budget based on sentimentality. Pragmatism has to set in.

Philly will have given big money to a fragile RB coming off a 400 carry season

History shows that most backs will under perform after high workload seasons. Don't overpay Jerry. Get a deal done with Dez and then make some moves.
