Don't compare ap to Murray. It's not even close

It isn't but this team had a top 5 rushing attack and yet Dez still got bracketed out of games, TWill still disappeared for 4 games, and Witten is now an OK lineman with good hands and route running ability. Not for or against AP coming here but even with an 1800 yard RB last year the team still was the number 3 seed.

I'm concerned that Murray had so many carries, historically that's a bad sign.

But I'm also concerned that Peterson is on the decline and it's going to look obvious in hindsight.

So considering that both players come with risk, I'd rather stick with Murray because I know how he is on this team. The coaches and players know him and think highly of him. If I have to take a risk I'd rather take it with the guy we know better.

Makes sense. Plus never an off field issue. We seem to have one RB that can't seem to avoid those already.

I can dig it.

Is this report true or false?

I can't tell by Fishers tweets

He's calling it headlineporn - maybe it's not true

He'd have a cap hit of 13 million this year. I don't see us trading for that. Now if he is released that's another issue entirely.

Dallas could trade for him with the understanding that he would restructure. That keeps him off the open market.

I suppose we could. But AP already has a high cap number the next 3 years. That migh mitigate against that somewhat.

I think I like Option C: draft a franchise rookie RB in first round, save $8-12m that you'd otherwise pay Murray or AP, and use that money to sign a FA pass rusher (which you wont find at #27, at least not one that will make a difference as a rookie). The beauty of this plan would be you get a cheap franchise RB for 5 years because he's drafted in 1st round.

@fishsports what do you think, resign Murray at a reasonable salary or trade for AP for reasonable trade?

The Peterson contract with Minnesota CANNOT be allowed to migrate to Dallas. Other than that, I'd prefer to have the known (to the Dallas system) quantity of Demarco Murray. He's younger with less mileage. I feel the 'window' with AD will be more constricted.

I'm picking long-haul OVER short-term.

The year off is a good thing. Obviously.

Murray coming off a record breaking NFL season is a bad thing. Obviously.

When AD busted 2 ligaments he came back in record time with a point to prove. He ended up 9 yards short of the all-time NFL record without much around him to scare teams.

Now he's had a year off and has a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas. I'd rather have my defense on the sideline rooting him on than in front of him trying to keep him from the end zone. He's going to run this league over once he comes back.

Totally agree but...the Colts are some insane number under the cap like 58 million and they have Murray on their radar - he is a missing piece for them. We have to keep our options open and not assume anything.

It's not always going to be what "we want."

What an unbelievable off season it's gonna be.

and if that guy has a hard time learning the coverages, or turns out not to be what you think he is?
I having no problem with drafting a back, but later in the draft, and not to be the primary. Murray, AP, or worst case Ingram for me.

It's the offseason, I'm going crazy.

AP, behind this line, hitting the second level that often? 3500 rushing yards. We wouldn't need Dez or Murray.

I'm going to bed.

Very well possible.

We might not need Romo either with AP behind this Oline
