It's posturing. Jones said exactly what he needed to say but I don't think what he said changes the fact that the Cowboys would have interest in Peterson for the right price.

You mean, like, not costing a draft choice? I am sure every team would want him if he were a free agent.

But at htis point, the price might be ridiculously high.

yeah, I hope so.

But the pic of Dogra, AP wanting gobs of guaranteed money, and now this from Jones. They were talking, no doubt.

At the very least, negotiations(talk) have come to a halt.

maybe not, ..... doesnt look good though. This close to the draft and Jones basically says , No.

No I mean that GMs, coaches say stuff like this all the time and then do what they said they wouldn't do.

Like if on Wednesday before the draft the Vikes called Jones and said, "Look, we are desperate. Give us a 5th rounder and we'll send you Peterson. We have to unload him," and the Cowboys would say no.

The draft, trading for players, etc. is all a cat and mouse game. Does it mean that this is a smokescreen for sure? Of course not. But anyone thinking that Jones wouldn't take Peterson for the right trade despite what he is saying is just not paying attention.

I had the chances of getting him low any way. And when the rumors were the Vikes wanted a #2 pick, I wanted out.

But unless you've just started following the NFL in the last 3 weeks, one should never trust what a GM or coach says about who they are going to pick or who they are going to trade or who they won't trade for.

Well, yeah probably. If the Vikings came down enough, sure the Cowboys would bite. But that probably isn't happening. Rumors are that TB has offered more and that tweet by Dogra yesterday might confirm it.

Yeah I doubt it's happening as well. But I never trust what any GM says, especially at this time of the year.

PS - I totally missed the Dogra tweet. Can someone repost or summarize?

I really hope you are right. And, they do play a lot of games ...........

But S. Jones, doesnt strike me as a guy who would say NO, one day and a few days later, say, Yes. But, who knows, I may be wrong here.....?

Jerry, yeah. In fact I have come to expect it. But not Stephen....

Jerry Jones, the man who signs the checks around Valley Ranch, had said the wide receiver spot wasn't a need for the Dallas Cowboys.

But on Thursday night, the first of the extended three-day NFL draft, Jones made a bold decision, moving up to take Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Well there you go the dream is over. What will I do with all my free time....

Ive already let it set in. I really wanted AP. But now, I think its done. Could be wrong!! They do play games. Maybe Dogra was trying to bluff Dallas and will come back and say "ohh we like your offer a little bit more now, can we discuss it?"

But I dont know. I have no confidence in any rookie right now. And Although i am optimistic about DMC, I am going to start watching Williams closely....I think its going to be RBBC.

If we draft a RB in the first 3 rounds, he will be given every chance to start and be the main RB.

I hear ya but I am in no way confident in DMC. Still skeptical as I just don't see the club moving away from what worked last year. Time will tell.

ohh , I am sure he will, considering what we have at the RB position right now. And if he cant win the spot.

Get ready for Gunslinger Romo this year!!
