Does anyone know if Dogra has other clients, maybe someone who plays for the Buccaneers?

Here is the longer version of his quote....Seems he is loving the "value" of draft picks since they don't make as much money....

If asked directly about trying to acquire All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson, Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones would likely decline because Peterson is under contract with another team. That could be considered tampering.

But indirectly, Jones was asked Tuesday about a Peterson-type situation. The Cowboys have made it known that they’re still looking for a running back to replace the loss of DeMarco Murray.

So, instead of trying to draft a back, could the Cowboys trade for one?

“I don’t see that happening,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “I think draft picks are so important for us. That’s where your value is in this salary cap era. I see us using all of our picks and hopefully do it in a good, wise way. Hopefully when the draft is all said and done, we’ll have really improved our football team. I don’t see us using any picks to trade for veteran ball players.”

Holy Crap we really do have a smart front office. Never thought I'd see this day again.

So, not even a 4th or lower? Not even a 6th? For AP? Wow, I wonder who they plan on picking up in those rounds?

It will be interesting to see what some team gave up to get AP...

It is awesome to see them make smart, responsible decisions in the last couple years. I really hope this continues. I wonder if it is because Jerry has come to senses, Stephen has taken a lot of the decision making over or a combination of the two?

What's not accurate? That teams haven't allowed players to sit because they don't want to trade them? This has happened before in the history of the NFL so it is quite accurate.

Now, it may not happen in this case. But this is a speculation thread. None of us knows for certain what will happen. I'm just offering my perspective.

But time will tell.

What's not accurate is your claim that Minnesota holds ALL the leverage. AP holds some cards as well. Just has to be willing to play them.

Nothing is set in stone yet. they do say odd things around draft time. But if Stephens words hold true. And we will no longer trade picks for veteran players. My first thought is they have gone from one extreme to another.

They were aggressive , when they didn't need to be aggressive(RW). And now they are conservative when , maybe they need to be aggressive?

From my view, AP to Dallas was a perfect fit. But, they are closer to the action and get paid to make these choices. But I dont know......I think, if this holds up, and TB or AZ or whoever gets AP for 3rd or even 2nd.... I think the Boys missed out.

But thats just me. My opinion from my per view.

It's only smart if it works.
Or in your case if you agree with it.

Now imagine how you will feel if our running game craps the bed this year while Peterson has a record breaking year and continues the next 2 seasons.....

It's a strategy and it's taking a chance and believing that your line is as good as you hope they are.

Looks like Tampa could land him with the 34th overall selection. Which means Dallas would have to give up too much for AD (@27).

Still all in on Romo by taking a RB in the 1st.

I think he is just bluffing. He tries to get the price down.

My thoughts 100%.

If we get Gurley or Gordon, okay, then I won't be as disappointed. But if we roll into the season hoping McFadden and/or a 2nd/3rd/4th round draft pick to put up the same production as Murray did last year, we could be in trouble. The line is great, no doubt. But because our running game was what made us so dominant, it's playing with fire just hoping you can cut and paste any RB into the lineup and be the same offensive force.

Every decision is only smart if it works. Most in the NFL are saying that giving up a lot for Peterson is not a good idea. I am sure, if the price was low enough, that the Cowboys would have jumped at it. Its fairly clear that the price is too high.

A second is too steep, not to mention the contract that we would have to take on even if we renegotiated. You just don't give up that much for a 30 year old RB.

Exactly.... it's the typical misinformation you get this time of year. If he says anything else then it gives Minnesota more leverage then they already have. I still think a deal for AP is possible if the price is right, i.e., not our 1st round pick.

I'm not sold on Gordon. Gurley is very intriguing but I admit the injury worries me. I think we get more value out of RBs in the 2nd or third round.

Nor, probably, our second. I think the price would have to be a third at the highest and probably lower.

I agree. It will be interesting to see what the real price was.
Of course it could be a smokescreen designed to get the price down...I don't think it is though. I didn't think Stephen Jones plays these games.

It will be real interesting to see what they do in the draft....the current backfield doesn't look strong enough to allow us to dominate with the run the way we have. Jason Garrett made a reference to needing someone to get us the tough yards....not sure who in this draft would be that guy....McFadden hasn't been that player.
