This is hilarious! So many people jumping off the AD train after Stephen Jones spins some FO GM speak!

Esloan acts like he just won the jelly of the month club.

And guys are calling Blount a bell cow...hilarious!

I thought yesterday was 4 20!!

Relax....

SJ said, "I don't see us trading draft picks for veterans." Translation anything can happen but we do place high value on draft picks. I mean come on peeps whats SJ supposed to say? Yes, I see us giving up our 1st or our 3rd for Adrian Peterson if the Vikings will agree.

True enough. But he said he doesn't see trading ANY draft picks....I don't think he is bluffing either?
Maybe he is though..... But, you would think he would leave himself a little wiggle room...

I am still not sold on all the rumors. All the games going back and forth.

Seems like everybody came out with a hard position.

Minny with their first and a starting corner?
AP with 45 million in guaranteed money?
Dallas says they wont trade ANY picks for Veteran Players......

Now, Minny isn't getting that, AP isn't getting that, but I do think he will be traded. But not for 4th. I am guessing 1-3. And AP is getting paid.

I do believe Stephen Jones though...... I don't know why, but I do. They aren't making an offer.

MINN is still 12m under the cap paying Peterson 13m and adding Mike Wallace, TNewman and Shaun Hill. They can afford to keep him.

DAL let Murray walk over money. They won't give big bucks and draft picks to get Peterson.

Peterson says he wants out, but he has a lot of mouths and lawyers to feed.

If he gets cut by MINN, I would definitely contact him and see how much he wants. But that won't be until after the draft and DAL has to make a decision before then about picking a starting caliber RB.

I truthfully have no idea either way, I do think it would be bad business to say yes, we are willing to trade for a veteran back essentially tipping your hand to competing suitors.

It may depend on what type of compensation on draft day is required or it could be that Stephen has indeed figured out what he stated earlier that the draft is the way of value to build and sustain a competitive team in the salary cap era.

You know Stephen would give a 3rd or 4th rounder for AP. You know he would....

I would love to be a fly on the wall.....

TB says I will give a 2.
Minny says we will take a 2 and sends the offer to dogra,
Dogra goes back to Dallas and says Minny doesnt want your 4th they want TBs 2nd....
Dallas says, the hell with that. If AP wants to be here, you better make sure he gets cut first!!!

Who knows? Its making the draft more interseting this year though.

However it gets done. AP in Dallas , with our offense, would be something to watch.....

I have worked my way up from a 3rd to a First to get him......I would get my "crazy Jerry secret sauce juice" and make that deal. Thats it though. No extra player or anything. Just a one, or 2 and 5th. And I would pay AP top 3 RB money....

But I really believe in AP. More so then the others I think. But its not just AP. Its the entire situation....

so the Bucs are going to pay AD 13 million a year? this i have to see to believe.they might fire Lovie next year after this.

It's all ********. Another agent trying to drum up interest. The Bucs have no O-line and a QB situation (regardless of who they take in the draft) that is questionable, at best, AND they are going to pay AP 13 million? Please. It ain't happenin'.

Besides the fact that IF the Vikes traded AP to the Bucs I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he refuses to report to Tampa Bay and the trade is nullified.

You should because that is pretty much the deal.

Well, just because I believe it, doesn't make it so. Do you have any other info we dont know about that makes you so sure? Or are you choosing to believe him, like I am?

Vikings: On Ben Dogra's Peterson/Bucs post
  • Ben Goessling, ESPN Minnesota Vikings reporter
MINNEAPOLIS -- We're going to assume many of you have seen, or at least heard about, the photo agent Ben Dogra posted on his Facebook page late last night, sitting in front of an Adrian Peterson jersey while wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers hat.

The initial reaction is to take it as a sign Dogra is hinting at a Peterson trade to the Buccaneers, especially given the fact the team has been rumored as a possible trade suitor for the running back. We didn't see it quite that way. In short, let's call it trolling with a purpose.

I don't know why people would now jump off the AP bandwagon because that is what Stephen has been saying all along. I personally don't believe we were ever considering AP in the first place and all of our actions have supported that.

But to believe that we were considering AP you'd have to ignore everything to begin with, so why believe what he says now?

No, I just think that sometimes there is an honest answer. There are so many factual things that make getting Peterson complete fantasy.

Stephen Jones was asked the question and he gave an answer. I am not going to waste time thinking he was being clever.

For that reason, I am not going to suspend logic and think otherwise. Nor will I pretend I have "other info".

They are one of the few teams that could absorb acquiring Peterson and his current salary.

Keep them coming Mick! I dont do the tweetie machine. I am too old.

The Dogra thing was for show, for sure.

Its the statement by Stephen Jones that has me doubting we get AP. He said we wont give up ANY draft picks...... and I know they like their double talk and this and that, this time of year. But i really got the impression that the Cowboys wont make an offer..... I could be wrong...???

Some team is going to make an offer that Minny likes more then what Dallas is willing to give(for whatever reason). They will also pay AP..... I think Minny will take it, AP will take it and that will be that.

I am guessing in all of this....just tearing apart the puzzle, But I dont think AP is in Dallas unless AP declines every offer and forces Minny to cut him. BK eluded to this in an earlier post and I agree.

Will Minny be so mad that they eat the money and force AP to sit out the entire year? AP only has so many years left. Even I think he is done by that third or 4th year....AP doesn't want to sit out. And Minny knows it.

But If I am Minny, thats the deal I offer AP. I get my Draft picks, or we both burn.

I agree with one caveat.

If the bus are stupid enough to give up a second in a trade, they won't take on his existing contracting as well, so all AP has to do is refuse TBs terms, no need to not report, that will kill the deal before its consummated and thats why I think he's ultimately get released.

UNLESS...some team money whips him and Oakland is the only team I can think of that would do that and has tons of cap room

No one, and I mean NO ONE, is going to offer Minny a 1st round pick for AP AND pickup his $13m salary.....no how, no way........AP would have to agree to restructure his contract even if they did. So in a way, AP does have a right of first refusal on any trade. Minny has been the one bluffing that they would be happy to keep him there. The backlash they would get again would still be there. Besides, they are set with a RB combo that is working for them.

As for Stevie boy, he may be saying now that they would not offer any draft pick for him, but just wait til the eve of the draft and it would not shock me to see him offer at best a 3rd round pick with the blessing from AP to restructure his contract to a more cap friendly deal. Not saying cheap, but considerably less than what it is now.
There is nothing more than he would like to play his last years in Dallas, and now being a SB contender is icing on the cake.

So after sorting through this thread, it looks like it would be in the best interest of the Cowboys to go get Peterson with a 3rd round pick and about 8 million dollars a year for two years is that correct ?
