Why on earth would we be talking to the Vikings? We're not that stupid. The smart play is to continue to let them back themselves into a corner than low ball them in hopes they are truly desperate. Which IMHO they will be. They simply have to get something for him.

Just like a good poker player - know when to hold and know when to fold them.

Not remotely surprised if this is true.

CBS

"Our stereotypical perception of the Dallas Cowboys tells us Jerry Jones covets Adrian Peterson and Jones will do anything in his power to acquire the Vikings running back. But the Cowboys haven't operated at the stereotypical level for a few months (years?) and expecting them to mortgage everything for a 30-year-old running back could be the wrong line of logic."

Dallas isn't going to give a first-round pick. That much I'm convinced. But neither is any other team apparently.

The second round is where it gets interesting, especially if the Vikings take Gurley.

What we have here is a big game of chicken.

There's a lot of disconnect around these reports.

No, the Cowboys probaby don't have any interest in Peterson at a high price. But people are foolish to think the Cowboys wouldn't be involved if the Peterson market crashed and he could be had for a 4th rounder. I bet they'd have interest then.

If Vikings take Gurley in 1st, I think that pretty much rules out anyone giving up a 1st for AP.

Nobody other than the Vikings is looking to pay Peterson 13M this year and 15M next year, especially with a meaningful draft pick involved. If Peterson will willing to negotiate a team might be interested but I don't know why he would.

I covet Adrian Peterson too, but understand why he is not going to be a Cowboy next season. Unless he wants to throw away a ton of money and play dirt cheap, that is.

The FO is opening itself up to a lot of criticism. -- I know, they don't care.

If all holds true. They are building a team that might be able to contend for a Super Bowl, without Romo. Not sure who they have in mind at QB though?

or they actually believe they can make a run into the playoffs, with McFadden and rookie. Well, they "hope" they can.

You don't let your 1800 yard running back walk in Free Agency, and depend on a rookie to get you into the playoffs/SB the following year. If that was the plan all along, then the rest of the NFL is right, they really are incompetent.

We will have the entire season to evaluate that move.

You do when you have our OLine and you are making moves for the long haul not just one flash in the pan season.

Trust JG and FO, I do.

Our Oline is good but they aren't miracle workers. You want to build for the future? I have no problem with that.. but what are you going to do RIGHT NOW when we have about a 2 year window at max with a good QB? You can't roll the dice with DMF and a rookie rb... unless that rookie is extremely good.. think Gurley/Gordon.

The thing that kind of pisses me off about Peterson and the Vikings is that had this not happened last year, the Vikings probably try to force him to take a pay cut in order to stay, and he would have been released already. Right now they're just trying to save face and get some value for him. His cap hit is ridiculous, and is sinking that team and they know it.
