Nobody other than the Vikings is looking to pay Peterson 13M this year and 15M next year, especially with a meaningful draft pick involved. If Peterson will willing to negotiate a team might be interested but I don't know why he would.

This is where the whole issue resides. If nobody is willing to pay that much which is what would happen if somebody trades for him and the Vikings draft a replacement he'll be a cap casualty. He might be a Cowboy at a discount post June.

I just heard that interview. He didn't sound like he had any sources other than what all of us have been hearing. He just seemed to be making an educated guess like the rest of us.

And, given the recent news, I wouldn't tell him or anybody else that they'll end up being wrong.

I want Gordon or Gurley and would not have a problem with the Cowboys moving up to get one of them, a move for the Super Bowl win.

I would. Gurley would cost too much to move up for, and I just don't think Gordon is worth it.

And any move for either of them is costing you considerably more in the way of draft picks than it would to get the sure thing in Peterson.

If nothing happens over the draft is this topic going to die or is this going to go be discussed until the season starts?

I really don't see them going RB until RD 3 unless Coleman falls in rd 2. I really believe there will be a OMG moment on Friday when the Vikings trade AD for a low pick or player or a high pick from next year.

My 'wish list' would be:

Gurley in the 1st round (if by some miracle he fell to #27!)

Coleman in the second round (with a trade down from #27)
or
Duke Johnson in the third round (with the hope that he can be a bellcow back rather than having to go committee)

It effectively would for me. Unless somehow the Cowboys didn't draft another running back at all. Then Peterson would be the only thing I could hope for.

Die?

The thread is going strong at 170 pages. I doubt garlic, wooden stakes, and holy water combined could kill it anytime soon.

It's certainly proving to be the most compelling topic with regard to the Cowboys right now. At least the most compelling one concentrated in a single thread.

I would be happy with Peterson, Gurley, or Gordon. And of course most happy if Dallas wins back to back Super Bowls starting this year.

There's a lot of disconnect around these reports.

No, the Cowboys probaby don't have any interest in Peterson at a high price. But people are foolish to think the Cowboys wouldn't be involved if the Peterson market crashed and he could be had for a 4th rounder. I bet they'd have interest then.

It says a lot that even the guy making the claims is hedging his bets:

"Would Peterson love to play in Dallas? Yes," Robinson writes. "Is the Cowboys' brain trust [or even team owner Jerry Jones] willing to part with the draft compensation and money it would take to land Peterson? As of the beginning of draft week, the answer is an absolute no."

And I applaud the Cowboys for taking this position. If those purported demands are true and the Vikings are serious about keeping him otherwise? I hope Dallas doesn't get involved. While I would love to add the talent, I'm not interested in seeing my favorite team getting fleeced again like the Roy Williams deal.

Compelling in terms of controversial as well. No argument there.

I'm thinking concussion grenade might do the trick.

I question whether it's fact that even the Vikings want to pay those amounts.

But one fact is that the Vikings are the only team that would have to.

Worst day of my life as a Cowboys fan. I maintain that, that cost us a super bowl or even a super bowl dynasty.

Steven Jackson? I don't think he gives Dallas a Superbowl. Good player, but the Cowboys weren't one player away from a Superbowl or multiple Superbowls at the time.

I would say 29 pages in less than three days would be a pipe dream but I wouldn't bet against your prediction.

Actually if we are sticking to the mods rule the other AD thread started today should be in here as well. ESP since it was reported here....either way we can do it!

If I'm the Cowboys and I miss out on Gurley and Gordon in this draft, I would offer the Vikings a 2016 2nd round draft pick assuming that Peterson would play for about 7 million a year.

I don't think that is a realistic assumption.
