We still have 5 million in dead money from Miles Austin because we get into the mindset that we can't live without some guy.

You just don't get it. Jerry has messed up in the past by over paying players thinking we are one player away. This year is different we really are 1 player away. We were 12-4 last year and have drastically improved our defense. A player like Peterson simply puts us in a position to win a super bowl. It's not even questionable.

To sit back and defend them starting the season with Mcfadden and thinking all is well just shows you have no idea what you're talking about.

AD, AP, AQ...call him what you want, but remember to call him a Viking....

...epic thread, almost @ 4,400 posts for something that is likely to NEVER happen

We won a lot of games but we only won 1 playoff game. Is that really successful? Yes it's better than 8-8 but I thought the bar was set higher than that. Sure we could have kept Murray and had another great offensive year but our defense wasn't championship worthy and everyone knew it.

Every season is a mystery. Will Romo repeat what he did last year? Some say it was the best of his career. Hard to see him living up to that standard but you never know. He isn't having off season surgery like the last 2 years. That's a great start.

First off I never said we had to keep Murray and was ok with letting him go(although now seeing them not address the rb position I would gladly take him back and like our chances at a SB)

We won one playoff game and were
VERY close to winning a second against an elite QB and a team who hadn't lost at home all season. Had we won that game we would have played Seattle for the NFC crown and they wanted no part of us after that thumping we put on them. Murray wore that team out the first time we played them.

So, yes we had a successful season and just needed to improve the team a little. Instead we let the RB position go to absolute crap and jut focused on our defense. How on earth is that a good idea after dominating with the run game the aeason before to a 12-4 season?

Will Romo have as good of a season as he had least year? No chance in hell, he no longer has a good run game. Teams don't have to stack the box anymore. Out whole season last year hingded on our outstanding running game.

You have

1. A running back who has a major injury history, who has averaged 3.x yards per carry over the last 3 or 4 years.
2. A running back that has twice gotten himself in trouble in the span of a year, that outside of that is still unproven over the long run.
3. A running back who is a smallish, change of pace running back.
4. A running back with injury concerns, who has struggled to make two teams now.

If Dez scores I don't have much faith that we stop Green Bay from scoring again. 28 sacks is not good enough.

You think we are a RB away. I'm grateful we signed Hardy and drafted Gregory instead.

Whether you think I know what I'm taking about or not, my opinions are in alignment with what we are actually doing. So you can claim to be right about AP all you want but there is almost zero chance you get to be right with him in a Cowboys uniform.

It's not either/or. Stop attempting to paint people who want our run game to improve as saying that they only want improvement in the run game.

Didn't you know that it doesn't matter who's our RB because of our O-line

A 2016 1st round draft pick for Peterson would be worth it in my opinion. I didn't want to give up a 1st, but the Cowboys have been so lax on the RB position that we really have no choice.

The defense looks like it could transform itself this year and next year, but likely it will still require time. We shouldn't let this offense degrade. Peterson may be overkill, but I have no doubt that getting Peterson would result in a Super Bowl for us. That is certainly worth the 32nd pick in the draft....

unless Minnie cuts him I do not think there is a chance he comes here now. And I admit I am worried about McFadden basically being all we have.

I will when people stop saying we should trade our high picks and pay 10 million a year for AP. If AP gets released and will play for 5 million a year then I'll be as excited as the rest of you. Until then ever dollar and pick that goes to AP would be less resources for other positions. We have a lot of resources devoted to offense and this is the first year in a while where those resources went to defense.

Well said, stay thirsty my friend. I think big dog wants Romo to run the ball.:lmao:
