That's not actually what I said at all.

Are you reading what i'm typing? Are you understanding what you're reading?

Do you know what you are saying? What are you saying? Even during AP's 2012 season when he ran for 6.0 ypc he still ran the ball 348 times to get to 2080+ yards. How many seasons do you think a player has like that, let alone at 30.

What do you think AP actually produces?

I think that whatever touch we gave to a rb...whether on th e roster or if it was Murray...AD would outproduce.

That may be true...this year. But does he out produce enough to justify trading a pick and paying north of 10 million a year for 3 years? That's seems unlikely to me.

If you win just 1 Superbowl you otherwise wouldn't have....what's too big a cost?

Not getting Dez signed long term. Being bad to mediocre for 5+ years because we can't afford contracts. That is too big a cost.

Having Peterson here isn't going to impact whether we can sign Dez.

And not having Peterson has not stopped the Cowboys for being Mediocre for 2 decades.

There are mutually exclusive things.

Oh and i'd glady take 5 years of mediocrity if we were to win the Superbowl the year before that run.

But that's exactly what I don't get. We didn't even get to the championship game last year and Murray had a record season. We need other pieces than an 1800 yard rusher. Paying AP 10-13 million for 3 years and trading picks will just make it harder to fill in the other pieces.

What if with Peterson we win one more regular season game? Or two? And we play at home? Maybe he doesn't fumble the ball in key situations? Maybe he commands more respect than Murray and everything is easier?

Stop just looking at the yardage and think about impact. Do you think teams stick two dbs on Dez at midfield if Peterson is in the backfield? Teams respected our line and our ability to churn out yards but nobody feared a homerun from out of the backfield.

Expand your mind.

So is the Fan in Fan Zone short for Fanfiction because at this point that's all this thread really is.

Yet you keep coming back Darth. If its upsetting you that much, why spend your time on such trivial things? Dont you have better things to do , like fighting Jedi?

We dont have that run game. We got nothing.

We have RBs. RBs that Jones, Garrett and company seem to be pretty damn happy with.

Were going to find out.........

I think its too much of a gamble. And if we go into the season with DMC/Randle/Williams. I think we struggle to make the playoffs, and if we do make it, it will be a quick exit. There is no good reason this team should be entering this upcoming season with that lineup. I think its misguided and reckless. And it didn't have to be this way.

I will be rooting. Hoping whatever they have planned for the offense works out just like last year, so we end up a few bounces here or there away from the Super Bowl.

But I aint betting on that! And at this point, I dont even care if its AP. Just get some more dogs in here...... that lineup wont be able to hold a length of a season. And they wont be much help to Romo either............. remember him? Bad back and all?

As soon as that running game gets stuffed a few times, and we end up behind, knowing we "really" cant run like we want too, Romo is chucking the ball up downfield more often, scrambling around more often....... bad, bad things happen.....

That was a bad post Jerry, maybe if you reduced your post count it would happen less often. And I'm clearly less emotionally invested with an overpriced 30-year-old RB than some of you folks.

Per an article on PFT

Contrary to whatever it was that Cris Carter was hinting about last week, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson wasn’t traded. And Peterson’s agent has acknowledged that a trade won’t happen— but that the Vikings should extend “a commitment to make him retire as a Viking.”

Its time to give this fantasy up folks. His own agent has publicly stated HE WILL NOT BE TRADED. Let this go folks.

I would like AP, but.....I think D Mac is going to have a DMurray type year. Why I say that, you ask....well, he is an above average back coming out of college. Look what team he went to....the Raiders. No offensive line whatsoever. The guy runs hard. He kind of reminds me of Murray with more speed. Before this season, no one thought Murray would hold up a whole season with his injury history....including myself. Call me crazy....but I think he rushes for 1200 yards easily.

Put your self into the Spielmans shoes as a GM. You are looking at your team and see that you have an aging RB that will make 45 mil over the next 3 years.

You know realistically that you arn't competing for much this year or next. Now you have an opportunity to get that contract off the books and have little to no cap hit because of it if you are able to trade him. Ok, so you keep him instead....well now you are going to be forced to cut him next year because of the cap damage he's doing to the roster.

You trade him now and get full value. Wipe your books and allocate that money to expiring rookie deals or other positions to fill out your lackluster roster.
