So reading projected RB totals for this coming year after the draft. Remember the word projected.

DeMarco Murray 1250
Gordon 1025
Gurley 562
Coleman 932
McKinon (AD's backup) 634
DMAC 525
Randle 336
Dunbar 134
Williams 0

The RB projected to have the most yards yep....that guy...the best All Day 1429!! What a trio this team is putting out there! His backup is projected for more yards than DMAC...for those of you wanting the projected total for our current RBs...995 yards..yippy!

What if with Peterson we win one more regular season game? Or two? And we play at home? Maybe he doesn't fumble the ball in key situations? Maybe he commands more respect than Murray and everything is easier?

Stop just looking at the yardage and think about impact. Do you think teams stick two dbs on Dez at midfield if Peterson is in the backfield? Teams respected our line and our ability to churn out yards but nobody feared a homerun from out of the backfield.

Expand your mind.

Romo was the best rater passer, Dez caught the most TDs, and Murray had the most yards by 500 yards. We won 1 playoff game. How much 'easier' do you think offense can get? We need more resources spent on defense. I'm not the one that is being short-sighted.

I mean look at those projected totals. I get that they are not real but this isn't you, stash, kal, and me putting that out there...these rbs here are bad.

So basically the argument is 'imagine what AP could do behind this line' but look at the pitiful projections for these RBs

Who's 'paying north of $10 million'?

You keep perpetuating this myth as if it's ever been mentioned. No team outside of Minnesota is paying that. The Vikings are the only team that must pay $12.75 for Adrian Peterson. Every other team in the league would get him at a much cheaper rate.

I see, so AP is dying to leave Minnesota so that he can make a little more than half of what he is making now? The logic here just gets better and better.
AP's agent (who is just trying to figure out a way to get paid by the way) is currently trying to get Minnesota to rework the contract for even more money. That's an actual story instead of the conjecture used in this thread.

It's a Madden fantasy that just isn't going to happen and never had a chance to.

...um and just 3 pages ago someone coming up with a scenario where we pay more than 10 million a year in cap space so...

Then you tell me why he wants out? Why does he want to get away from the only team willing to pay him $13 million, a ridiculously bloated amount compared to what any other team in the league is paying? Give me some of this logic you're claiming to have?

AP's agent (who is just trying to figure out a way to get paid by the way) is currently trying to get Minnesota to rework the contract for even more money. That's an actual story instead of the conjecture used in this thread.

And this guy has suddenly never said otherwise? He's never stated that Peterson wanted to play elsewhere or that "he'll never play another game for the Vikings"? That wasn't an "actual story" too? Or does it not count because it doesn't fit your agenda here?

It's a Madden fantasy that just isn't going to happen and never had a chance to.

Yeah, likely you. And if anyone else did, they're in the vast minority on the subject. Nobody is looking for the Cowboys to pay that much, least of all the Cowboys themselves.

Yes but that has been addressed. Those numbers are not realistic this year with the stable of retreads running the ball this year.

No I also put in those other backs just to show what this team could have had as well. Your probably projected for more yards than the current lot.

Ok then. Why didn't the Vikings do that on draft day then? Why would they not do that if they are going to cut him anyway? Why not get a 7th for him at least, rather than cut him and get nothing?

The very fact that they didn't is evidence that they don't intend to cut him.

I think MINN was hoping someone offered anything for Peterson during the draft. But once it was apparent it wasn't going to happen then a 'sign and trade' or ' renegotiate and trade' deal would be a little too complicated to work out during the draft. Teams are too focused on the draft and UDFAs.

If MINN really wanted to keep AD and keep him happy then all they would have to do is guarantee 33% of the 46m due him over the next 3 years. Their words are hollow. They don't want him back, but don't want to give him what he wants either. It will get ugly once the full OTAs start.

Why should Minny guarantee anything to Peterson? They paid him a lot of money last year for not playing. They owe him nothing when it comes to guarantees. If he is on the field for game 1 for the Vikes then his entire salary for this season is his, which is roughly 28% of what is left on his contract. I doubt Minnesota cares if it gets ugly or not. They hold the cards.
