Someone explain to me why they would cut AP instead of trading him on or before draft day? If they wanted to get rid of him, would they not have done it then? You mean to tell me they couldn't get a 7th round pick out of him in trade? Not much but more than they would get if they cut him.

Why would they let him go now and not trade him and get something...ANYTHING...for him then? I don't understand that logic. Some team had to be willing to give up a 7th for him at least. Hell, Jerry would have at that price.

No they can't get a 7th round pick in the 2025 draft for Peterson because no one is dumb enough to pay him $13M this year and $16M next year - including the Vikings. Who ever does sign him after he is cut will get a much better deal than $13M, IMO. The Vikes are talking tough right now with the "no trade he's a Viking" rhetoric right up until the second you read on ESPN that he's been cut.

Couldn't a rework of the contract be part of the trade?

Jerry probably loads up signing bonus to get AD in right mindset.

Jerry.... Ok Adrian... Here $10-15 signing bonus and 8-10 per year. 3 year deal.

Adrian.... You had me at hello!

More precisely... $12 mil signing bonus and $8 mill x 3 years

You are looking at AD for 3 years = $36mil +/-

My prediction was 3 years $25 million with half guaranteed and I'll stick with that.

But I don't see how anyone can claim that anything is 'over' when the Cowboys did nothing to improve the running back position.

If they had, I can see why people would say that. But this talk of what we have now being 'OK' or 'good enough'? Yeah, that's a joke.

I think they thought that someone would jump. No one did.
I thin Zimm thought for sure someone would call him on draft day.

I disagree, it doesn't have to be better... Just comparable or close will get it done.

That is where Peterson holds ALL THE CARDS. He can simply say "no I'm not reworking my contract" and then choose the team he wants to go to when he's cut by the Vikes. If $8M is his contract value whether he reworks his contract or he's cut and signs with a new team, by getting cut he chooses his new team. Reworking his deal he's probably shipped to a CRAP team like Washington or Cleveland. Cowboys vs Cleveland, his choice, same money.

I don't see it.

And you think he will do an extra year for 4 mil less?

So you are saying that if the Vikings called Jerry and offered AP for a seventh, he wouldn't jump at that amd AP wouldn't rework his contract?

It appears the Cowboys are the only team that your scenario would work because Adrian wants to be a Cowboy. I think Jerry would jump ALL OVER that deal. Give a 7th and rework the deal @ $8M vs wait till he's cut and compete with all the other teams to sign him @$8M? Your scenario is our best hope.

Ok then. Why didn't the Vikings do that on draft day then? Why would they not do that if they are going to cut him anyway? Why not get a 7th for him at least, rather than cut him and get nothing?

The very fact that they didn't is evidence that they don't intend to cut him.
