Keep telling yourself whatever you want in order to believe that it won't happen, you obviously don't want him here and will tell yourself whatever it takes for that to be the case. I don't blame anyone if they don't want him here, that's fine. It's when people say 'the Cowboys can't" or "there's no way" that it sounds ridiculous.

Each report like this one increases the chances that it could happen.

It's not that people don't want him here or that they are in denial. It's that they understand he will demand a price that we are not going to pay. Whereas someone else will pay him.

Again, no way Peterson settles for 5-6 mil per year. Dallas isn't paying him more than what they offered Murray. And there has been NO report that Dallas is interested anyways.

How could the Cowboys say anything official about a player under contract to another team?

Google two words:

"Peterson" and "Cowboys". That should give you all of the reports you can read for the rest of the day.

Here's just one:

If price was the sole thing he was worried about, why isn't he being a good soldier for the $13 million in Minnesota?

With 19,550 posts, I'd say you will definitely have the last word. I could try to school you all night but it's not worh it.

Adrian Peterson's current contract is scheduled to pay him $12.75M in 2015, $14.75M in 2016 and $16.75M in 2017 in base salary. With workout bonuses he would earn approximately $15m a year over the next 3 years. If he is willing to take a pay cut I can't imagine it would be a large enough for Dallas to pay. If he cuts his salary by a third he would still be commanding $10M a season. There is no way he is cutting his salary in half to get down to $7.5M a year, which is still more than Dallas was wiling to pay Murray.

Then I would ask you (since I can't get an answer elsewhere...)

If money is Peterson's highest priority, why is he giving the Vikings - the team willing to pay him those dollars - a hard time?

Why is he not keeping his mouth shut or praising everything about the team?

Why is he meeting with the GM and head coach with no positive resolutions?

Why is he flying on his own dime to New York to meet with the owners?

If money is his goal, why would he be attempting to get away from the team willing to pay him the most?

That line of thinking just doesn't hold up.

Charles Robinson reports Adrian Peterson's agent refused a dinner meeting with Vikings GM Rick Spielman at the NFL owners' meetings.
This is turning into a messy divorce. Peterson's camp has been at odds with Minnesota's front office since the Combine and it doesn't look like the two sides will ever see eye-to-eye again. The Vikings seem to be in denial about Peterson's future with the team. A trade to the Cardinals seems more likely by the day.

Hey it's Friday and even though this says a trade to the Cards appears likely we all know he is going to be released and become a Cowboy!!

the Vikings aren't releasing him....and he's not playing for Dallas

No, it doesnt add up.

He wants out of Minnesota. He is going to get out of Minnesota. And he is going to take a pay cut to make that happen.....

I cant see TB or the Chargers stepping up.... Maybe the Chargers.?
AZ and Dallas. I would bet a shiny nickel he ends up with one of those teams.

Of course AP makes more money then DM.,,,,,,?? I am not sure why anybody would think differently.

And, we can still draft one of those stud RBs.... He will replace AP in 2 years. Give AP a break when needed,,,,

This kind of opportunity doesn't happen that often for franchises/teams.

Get it done....and lets push are way into the SB! The time is now, not 3 or 4 years from now.
Right now. This year. In about 6 months.

Why? I don't know. No one does, which is why you can't get an answer.

The line of thinking isn't that he wants the absolute maximum money owed to him from his current contract. It is that he still wants a good chunk of change. He is going to end up taking a pay cut to play in 2015 no matter where he plays, but don't believe the money doesn't matter to him or his agent. In order for him to play in Dallas he would have to take a pay cut of over 50%. That isn't going to happen. He will take a reduction, but not near enough for Dallas to afford on top of whatever it will take to acquire him through a trade.

A pay cut is one thing. Accepting half of what he is currently scheduled to make is another. And accepting half($7.5M a year) is still more than what Dallas offered Murray.
