That is why we all have this forum to display our opinions and I could not disagree more.

there's opinions, and then there's stupidity...Dallas wasn't going to pay Murray 8.5, yet you think they're going to pay AP 13.5 million a year.....they can't even get a deal done for Dez long term...there's a salary Cap....I don't care what AP wants to do, he's under contract, the vikings aren't eating his 40 million in salary and bonuses by releasing him and get nothing in return...AP needs to grow up, his actions got him sidelined from football, not the vikings, he got paid for the season...an aging over paid back, no thanks, not happening!

Cap flex to sign AP who most likely will want 9-10 mil a year? No way he settles for 5-6 mil. Which is the limit for Dallas.

He will if he wants to play.

AP is calling his shots to get out of Minny but that's where his shot calling ends. He's going to have to renegotiate and I don't think he has any leverage at his current number. I think he will have to "settle" and might as well be with a Super Bowl contender with a QB, a line and a place he calls home.

Minn will try to trade him during the draft. If we draft a RB in the first 3 rounds, AP is not coming here. We probably wont know a thing until the draft...

No, it doesnt add up.

He wants out of Minnesota. He is going to get out of Minnesota. And he is going to take a pay cut to make that happen.....
I cant see TB or the Chargers stepping up.... Maybe the Chargers.?
AZ and Dallas. I would bet a shiny nickel he ends up with one of those teams.

Of course AP makes more money then DM.,,,,,,?? I am not sure why anybody would think differently.
And, we can still draft one of those stud RBs.... He will replace AP in 2 years. Give AP a break when needed,,,,

This kind of opportunity doesn't happen that often for franchises/teams. Get it done....and lets push are way into the SB! The time is now, not 3 or 4 years from now.
Right now. This year. In about 6 months.

I agree with all of this, and the only team other than Dallas that I give a chance of getting Peterson is Arizona. And only then if Peterson is willing to go 'close but no cigar' in his stated desire to get back to Texas.

In two to three years, Romo will likely retire and this team will be playing or looking for a young, cheap quarterback anyway. If signing Peterson now means adding in another $5 - $6 million in dead cap space then, I'm fine with that. Any quarterback you have then will be playing for cheap at that point anyway.

Do whatever it takes to try to win now!

If a team trades for him then he will still have the leverage because he will still be under the same contract. If the Vikes cut him it isn't happening any time soon. They can drag this out through the summer.

Minneapolis, MN is 1007 miles away from Peterson's hometown of Palestine, TX. Phoenix, AZ is 1165 miles away from Palestine. :D

I don't think my opinion is stupid at all....I am basing everything off of arcticles and APs direct actions. There is no extensive cap hit for the Vikes when they release AP (one them articles)...AP himself saying Dallas was on his list of where he will go...its happening...

The Vikings could try to trade him at the NFL Owner's Meetings, coincidentally in Phoenix.

Dallas has the third lowest cap space in the NFL right now, so unless they start going crazy and restructuring Romo and cutting Carr, chances are stronger he is a Cardinal before being a Cowboy.

AP made the call...it quickly got covered up. Memory serves me correctly they both politically corrected themselves by saying it would be "nice".

Isn't that sweet. Political correctness goes a long way when not wanting to be committal. It ain't happening. Not because neither of them wouldn't like it. There will be someone else at the table . Just like there was with Murray. And I'm certain both parties would have preferred to be committed.

That may very well be what happens but until that happens I am pulling for him to be here. I have been preaching this since his phone call to JJ last year. He grew up a boyz fan and as he said he would love to retire as a member of the cowboys. He has an opportunity to make it happen and by the looks of it he is trying.

I'd rather draft a young guy at a fraction of the price. The o-line will take care of Gurley or Gordon.

The team is already getting hammered for signing Hardy. It would be considerably worse if they get AP as well.

Yep. I agree for the most part. I would say, however, that we still need to do some more in free agency because our number of needs is greater than our number of high draft picks. We still need a starting caliber LB. I'm hoping we address that with McClain. We still need a starting caliber CB. I'm hoping we address that with our 1st rounder because there are four very good CBs and at least one should be available when we draft. We need a RB. But I don't think we need AP. I like the guys we have and I think we can get by with a 2nd or 3rd round RB. We need someone to take over for Melton. A 3-tech who can move around the line in the nickel and backup Crawford in the base. And we need a true 1-tech because I don't want to see Hayden getting 600 snaps again. We need to address both of those DT spots in the first four rounds.

It's ok, the same people who said no way on Hardy are at it again... EVERYTHING begins with rumors. ....not saying 100% AP will be in Dallas, but never say never in this biz.

Agreed. Dallas would have to start making restructuring moves now in order to bring in Peterson. They are silent. Plus they aren't restructuring Romo. They have his contract situated to move away from him in 2 or 3 years without any crippling hits in dead money at that time.
