Does anyone really think JJ will cut Miles or Demarcus?

Miles yes.

I wouldn't cut Dez. I wouldn't restructure him either.

I believe he has more good years ahead of him. And we hae no backup.

Go heavy on the line this year. See if Ware is truly done/can't stay healthy.

Be preapred to say goodbye next year.

They can't get his cap hit down to 3M in 2014. You ommitted his past unrealized prorated bonus money. His minimum cap hit with a restructure is around 7M.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/demarcus-ware/

look at his current deal. he has no guaranteed money in 2014 only the prorated bonus hits, we can get a new deal done to take his salary down to league minimum. Might not be 3 million but you can get it down to 4 or 4.5 million. Still gives you more cap space than releasing him

I would prefer not to restructure anyone but we are 21 million over the cap and will have to do something.

Side note: Justin Tuck is speculated to get cut, I would love to pull a Canty on the Giants and sign him.

why would you want to sign him ? he sucks

Do we have more than 6 "good: players on our team?

I love your pic.........maybe Jerry should look into extending guys like Tyron Smith, Bruce Carter, Tyrone Crawford, and others before there contract is up. You know the same way he did it with Owens, Ratliff, Lee

We aren't going to be players in the market next off season.

Which might be a blessing to a degree. Most FA's don't seem to live up to the deals they sign. I imagine we'll still be in the market for the lower tier types.

You cant get his cap hit down to 4 millions. His restructure bonus alone is 3.7mills for 2014. If you restructure agin in 2014 say over the last 4 years of his contract that will be +2.5 mils in 2014. Plus his vet minimum about 850k thats around a 7 mill hit.

But restructuring will be hard. If you do so you cant release him in 2015. because the cap hit would be around 13 mills. without releasing him his cap hit would be 20mils. so you'd have to restructure again because we cant afford that.

Problem is you cant save cap money. eventually you gotta pay. and he wont be able to play forever. so restructuring wont be an option forever. and all the cap money you delayed into the future will be accumulated into one big figure.

Should the a Cowboys be pushing Romo's cap hit further into the future?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

To me the romo deal was one of the dumber ones this organisation made.

I'm really curious how they will get out of this mess they created.

Do we have a choice? Cutting Romo or Carr are not options. Both will be restructured. Now Ware and Austin...letting them go would save us big and honestly they both gave nothing to the team in 2013.

Cutting Austin bevor June: 7.8mil cap hit
Keeping Austin: 8.2mil cap hit.

I do not see a big saving here.

Ware could save us 7.5 mil. But we'd also had an 8.5mil cap hit. So this is no option.

it doesn't matter the savings with Austin. He is hurt 24/7 cut him loose and plus in 2015 we will be free of him too. Same thing with Ware get rid of him and be off the hook in 2015 for having to pay and add to the cap number for a worn out vet.

First you said we could save big by cutting austin. now it does not matter. seems hard to follow your argumentation.

Dallas better start preparing themselves now for rather large cap hit on Romo contract. He might be nothing more than part-time player going forward considering type of chronic injury he has. There is no way they can keep that contract on books if he isn't full time player. Good news is after Ratliff, Austin, Romo contracts come off the books...dallas has room to breath for next era.

What's wrong with you. How conveniently you left out my naming of Ware who in fact will save the team 7.4 million when we release or trade him. His 2014 cap number is 16 mil and in 2017 is 17.5 mil Imagine that! ....as for Austin, I cut him in June and free up $5.5 million to move the Cowboys to around $6 million in cap space which can used for the rookie class when they sign in June and July.
cap wise ....
We have two players getting a majority of the money next year. Romo and Carr.
Romo the only thing we can do with him is restructure. Not even possible to cut him.
Carr.... solid for the most part...(looked terrible Sunday) .... but I've never thought he was 12-13 million a year solid ...... we really need to rethink him.
Fastest way to fix our cap would be redo Romo .... and bite the bullet on Carr... and just eat it ...... With Jerry not likely to happen.
We're in cap hell from back money being pushed forward..... gonna be hard to fix this brown stuff Jerry has us knee high in.
Can't cut Carr...too much dead money 16.8 million .... split it over two years... saves us 4 million next year....
If he plays he cost 12.2 to be on the field Second highest paid on the field next year ... behind only Romo
12.7 and then 13.8 the following two years ..But restructure Romo .....When we get free of the dead money on Carr we could pay off Romo and in 2 years
be out of cap Purgatory. And even Jerry won't overpay in free agency this year.
Just my 2 cents on this though ...... Possibly the worst defense in history ...
Not a single player on it should make 10 mil a season much less more than that.

they can with a new deal. If he renegotiates a new deal you can.

No, the unrealized prorated money cannot be cleared out even with a new contract. That money has already been paid out and is unaffected by a new contract. A new contract can only change money that has not been paid to the player.

Speculation:

Miles, Spencer, Hatcher and Ware get cut.

Lee, Romo, Witten and Carr restructured.

I don't think you can let Spencer and Ware and hatcher all walk at the same time. I think you let Ware go and try to sign both hatch and Spencer
