Thats all true, but not being able to cheat as alot to do with it as well.
This may have a little bit to do with it but what I think it has a lot to do with is like a previous poster said. The Patriots core players on defense during their dynasty are no longer there and they are being replaced by guys who aren't as good or experienced. It happens to every dynasty. We definitely should know that because of what happened to us in the lat 90's when players started to retire and the talent eroded and we tried to replace them with younger, inexperienced players.

Dude I know you're a A&M fan and its easy to develop this loser mentality that you have but Dallas can beat them.

The Saints aren't above and beyond everyone in the NFL but you just handed them the Lombardi tonight.

If our Offense gets rolling, which is very very possible, than the Saints dont wanna see us. They got weapons.. Well guess what? So do we.

And dont look now but we have a receiver that is playing at a superstar level and is getting better by the week.

IF we get our offense rolling. The Saints offense IS rolling.

We could turn it on and defy every single past trend and win 8 straight on our way to the SB title. We can play the "what if" game all night. As it stands, NO is playing at a level that we havent come close to this season.

The Colts should have lost like.....4x by now. I don't like your argument. :p:

Shoulda, coulda, woulda...

After a time you will come to the realization that, season after season, the primary difference between champions and 'also-rans' - is that champions get it done.

I've always used it correctly. I'm happy to see you decided to grow a brain, though.

So you're saying that if they're 13-0 with home field wrapped they won't start dialing it down?

Nope. They would be stupid to do that. How long would that layoff be for players before appearing in that 1st playoff game?

5 weeks? I just don't see a team doing that.

Last game maybe but not 3 games out of the close of the season.

Actually a pretty good point.

They should have the division clinched by then, but may still be duking it out for homefield with Minny.

neosapien23;3111664 said:
not necessarily true. Minny has only lost 1 game this year and the Saints will need to win out to stay a game ahead of them for home field.

Both are very possible. Minny is also clicking on all cylinders. Should be interesting.

Our defense is good. Our defense is NOT dominant. They don't force a lot of turnovers and don't get an abnormal number of sacks. That's what seperates us from an elite defense.

Our defense isnt good enough for us to rely on it solely to beat good teams.

Our pass rush is so good that we basically dictace what type of Offense the other team runs.

Nobody is running 4 and 5 step drops consistently against Dallas and nobody is dumb enough to leave an empty backfield against us. We have to many pass rushers.

What happened to the big play Philly Offense when Dallas came to town? That mess got shut down. Desean Jackson where are you?

We got the tools to beat the Saints, Colts, or whoever lines up.

Dallas has layed some stinkers lately but you guys have let those few stinkers manifest into thinking we are just this awful team which couldnt be further from the truth.

Eh. I think we can beat them. That doesn't necessarily mean we will, but we have the team to do it. It's going to take a complete game on all sides of the ball though.

But w/ this argument, why play the game then? You are basically saying that this team will never be better ever.

Because, as he said, trends don't always hold. The games arent played on paper, but paper usually gives a good indication of what is to come. Betting lines are accurate more times than not for a reason. Preseason favorites do well more times than not.

Based on past stats and trends associated with Wade and this team and what has gone down so far this year, there is no realistic reason to believe things will change this December, and there won't be until we start winning in December.

We DO have the tools to beat anyone. I've always said that.

Our problem isnt physical in any way. It's all mental. You think our guys arent thinking about 4 years of utter failure in December?

...a receiver?...the Saints have three, plus Lance Moore when he returns...not to mention Shockey, Thomas and Bush...

...i'll tell you what Dallas had better not do on Dec. 19...sit back in the shotgun like Brady did and expect to go toe to toe with the best offense in the league right now...Garrett better be on the right side of the pass-run mix and Romo can't be all over the place with the football while the offensive line tries desperately to pass-block correctly and pick up the blitz...converting third downs at 25% won't cut it either...and if they take away Austin then what?... Williams?...really...Dallas still has issues on offense, namely pass protection and converting third downs...

I don't thnk the big issue is the Saints marching up and down the field on us all night. There is a small chance of that happening if they are hitting on all cylinders.

I think the big issue are whether we can protect Romo against the blitz and the speed rushers they have at DE and avoid OL penalties which have hampered our ability to maintain drives. If we can do it through blitz pickups and heavy doses of Felix and Choice we can score points and win the game.

When you play sports 9 times out of 10 anything like that is going to be completely out of your head when the pads start popping.

You just go out there and try to win the game.

So whether or not they are thinking about it all day and night its not going to factor one single bit on the outcome of this game.

Just put yourself in their position. You got a big game against the Giants coming up and you know they are going to be desperate.

Do you really think when you step on the field and get ready to play them your going to think about how you played last December?

I said this same thing in the game thread. The Patriots try to air it out and throw the ball over the yard and get everything back in one play. That just played right into the Saints hands. They want to score quickly and want you to do it too. Garrett has to use the game plan he used in the Oakland game and do that against the Saints.

Absolutely, especially if New York jumps out to a fast start. The whole "Here we go again" mindset

Well I could see how you would think like that because you obviously have showcased your quitters mindset in this thread.

I know this is about the Saints but really, we are not going to get the top 2 seeds. And definitely not the #1 seed anymore. Winning our remaining 3 division games will almost guarantee us a NFC East crown and a home game 1st round, which is all you can ask for at this point. Losing this game will not be the end of the world, unless they lose it like they did 3 years ago when the Saints came to Dallas and destroyed us and we went downhill ever since.

The actual loss on paper will not mean that much if we take care of the other teams. But if they lose bad, it could send us in a downward spiral, if we are already in one by then. :laugh2:
