Yeah, I can't really knock what he said. Because if we hadn't heard that he had attitude issues within the confines of the team, we'd be talking up his confidence. I never have an issue with smack talk and high self-confidence in one's ability. Somebody has to believe in your ability. Might as well be you, even if no one else does.

You know what, that tweet was from Aug 14. I mistook it for something he tweeted *after* he'd been released from the Cowboys. In a context where he's still on the team, you're right, it's a different thing, entirely.

Whether that was said on Aug 14th or yesterday it really doesn't matter. I think when a player starts talking themselves up to be a HOFer without doing squat on the field it should be reason for pause. I believe that's insulting to the guys that actually put the hard work and years into the NFL to make the Hall of Fame.

I recall Tyron Smith saying the same thing as well and three years later he made the Pro Bowl, but he put a ton of work in to get there.

Don't get me wrong, Dixon can have all the confidence in the world but posting that kind of message on Twitter isn't the smartest thing to do, much less following up that statement by missing a walk through the next day in camp.

To me, it's no different than Emmitt posting his goals in his locker. He put in the work and achieved them all. Dixon's story is yet to be told, although it's off to a rocky start.

Make your list, genius. Let's see all these 7th rounders that are starting for other teams. Let's see this mile long list of genius teams. I won't hold my breath.

It isnt just 7th rounders that have been wasted by Jerry on special teams fodder. Any one with 1/2 a clue can see it.

Confirmed again by Broaddus and Spags.

Dixon was late to the team meeting on Monday.

I truly don't understand what McClay has done to merit such consideration.
He's been praised by this Front Office.
Not exactly a screaming endorsement in my mind.
What has he directly had a hand in that is tangible for this team that we can recognize?
He found scrubs to replace our injured starters to lead them to... what?

I'm not a basher by any means, but I haven't seen anything corroborable to his contributions other than the Jones's words.

Maybe he's a good one- I can't claim to know either way, but I still won't frown even a teeny bit if he's swept out of the closet along with the rest of the dust bunnies and the cloth-eating moths.

Wid ya, and I like your image of moths too ... but just hoping he's better than Tom Ciskowski. Of course, we don't know how much Jerry put together the board and not Ciskowski in recent years.

I'm a pessimist, but when it comes to a new guy running the draft I get excited. Maybe McClay is cherry picking these cast offs too. Maybe Ciskowski would have been worse last year finding live bodies to put on a uniform. My blood races.

Just remember boys & girls: 15 teams WORSE than us last year - passed on Toomer, and Spillman, and Hawkins, and Crawford if we sign him, last weekend's waivers I mean.

Geez, I cant stand Heath (In the context of Heath vs. Dixon) but if Dixon can't be on time.....At some point you have to consider the guy (especially a 7th rounder) as unreliable and just move on.....And I was (and still, maybe) a Dixon fan.

Not sure if it was posted in this thread or not, amongst the flaming of one another for differences of opinion, but I read today from a friend that Ahmad Dixon was cut because he was late to or missed a meeting last week, which wasn't the first time that it happened.

As much as I love his potential, you can't come in as a 7th rounder and miss mandatory stuff. That'll get you fired. One thing about Jeff Heath - at least he shows up on time for meetings even if he's never on time for pass defense, lol.

Yes. They had a team meeting early yesterday morning and Dixon was late to it.

That is just stupid. If I had been benched for a preseason while trying to make the team already, then I would find a way not to let it happen again. Don't those guys have roommates or other players staying in the same apartment complex?

My take on Dixon besides missing meetings; He can't cover and had no desire to play ST's. Pass.

Yes, you have to be mentally right to develop into a quality NFL Safety regardless of athletic ability. If the reports about him are true, then he is unlikely to develop.

Like I said - Kam Chancellor was the same player - couldn't cover, no special teams, just a head hunter.

You need a player like that, in my opinion, who can play down hill on long passing downs as a box safety or additional in the box DB.

You do not need a player like that if he misses meetings.

True but then it is not his roommates job that was on the line. I have heard many comments over the years about what Jimmy would do. So what would Jimmy do to a 7th rd pick showing up late to meetings?

I agree. But you already have two of those on the roster with Wilcox and Church. Your 4th safety who was a 7th round pick needs to play STs.

Is this a trick question? o_O

Cutting Dixon was the right thing to do then. It allows Garrett to show he won't stand for insubordination from mediocre players who probably shouldn't be on an NFL roster.
