I like the scouts, though. But I think there has been too much insertion into random roles without accountability or an eye towards other roles.

Too much pre-regime carry over. It's too late to change now but if Garrett gets the axe and the scouting department stays, Will McClay should have a huge role in selecting the next coach alongside Jerry.

I truly don't understand what McClay has done to merit such consideration.
He's been praised by this Front Office.
Not exactly a screaming endorsement in my mind.
What has he directly had a hand in that is tangible for this team that we can recognize?
He found scrubs to replace our injured starters to lead them to... what?

I'm not a basher by any means, but I haven't seen anything corroborable to his contributions other than the Jones's words.

Maybe he's a good one- I can't claim to know either way, but I still won't frown even a teeny bit if he's swept out of the closet along with the rest of the dust bunnies and the cloth-eating moths.

He's likely to be a very good special teamer. But missing a walk through as a 7th round pick is just dumb. Following it up with a drive-extending, game-losing hit on a defenseless player is no smarter. Saying he'd do it again is just beyond dumb. He probably moved himself from solidly on the roster to the bubble in just those ten days.

Like I said: knucklehead.
 
Dixon was a thug who couldn't cover at Baylor. He is a personal foul waiting to happen. Good move.

A week ago, I thought Dixon was a talented knucklehead and Heath was a near lock for the roster.

And I wouldn't have agreed with you, regardless, because your opinions in these matters aren't really based on anything. If we share the same opinions on any Cowboys topic, it's very probably sheer coincidence.

Again, I'm not talking about what I thought the Cowboys would do. You keep clinging to that as if that makes it right. If anything, it makes it wrong considering their track record. I would have put Heath on the final 53 too if I was trying to predict the roster.

I'm talking about what I would do. Who I think is more worthy of the roster spot and the developmental time. Dixon over Heath all day for me.

We do share opinions on this team. Anytime I see something positive, you'll agree with me.

I think I was pretty clear: because your opinions aren't based on anything that can actually be measured, I'm just not all that interested in what you would have done. I believe you would have kept Dixon, but if the reasons for doing so--or for releasing Heath--are unsupported and rhetorically arbitrary, what possible difference should that make? It's better to simply deal in the real world where we can see what the team is planning to do and make judgements as to what's likely for the roster based off of that.

As to me agreeing with you anytime you say something positive, you'll have to try it sometime and we'll see. Start with something small. Maybe you like the star on the helmet or something.

Yes, but I wasn't writing to you. That's the thing. I was stating my more than likely correct opinion that Dixon is more worthy of the roster spot and developmental time than Heath. I think this because I have eyes and a knowledge of the game. As all fans should have if you love the sport and have been around for awhile.

And, of course, are capable of having an opinion independent of the team.

You chimed in with the completely irrelevant comment that anybody who expected Dixon over Heath wasn't paying attention.

Nobody cares what should have been expected. We care which is the right thing to do. We don't all assume this failure of a front office makes all the right moves.

A move was made. It is my opinion that this was the wrong decision. It's probably not a huge issue. I just would have went the other way. I stated this on a fan forum. What's the problem?

You know, I don't agree that Dixon should have been kept over Heath. I just think Heath is a steadier player, but I understand the sentiment, I liked Dixon's toughness and physicality something that this Defense appears to need, but Heath proved he can start and he was able to make plays last year, I don't think Dixon has proved much of anything at this point.

Basically, I don't think either of them deserve a roster spot, however; I think Dixon should be placed on the PS.

As a Baylor alum, I had heard stories about the player which did not encourage me. I'm glad he is gone.

BTW, the new stadium is amazing! Sic' Em Bears!
 
Regardless what you think about him, what a wild weekend it must be for those players on the bubble. First you have to survive final cuts and then just when you think you made it, you are released for a waiver wire pickup. I wonder how much the team shares with the agent during the process? I would guess not a lot because that player being waived is dependent on being awarded a player. So in a few days you could have the elation of making the team only to find out you will be on a practice squad of a new team in a matter of days.
 
Steve Dennis on the Break just said that "whispers" in VR were saying that he missed another team meeting as to why he was cut.
 
Spags was also saying that in the Miami game, a frustrated Dixon throwing his helmet down after the TD drive, earned him a spot on the bench from Rich Bisaccia on the ST unit.
