Again, they retained a couple guys on the 53 man roster that were going to be churned.

You can't sign anyone else you cut someone.

In addition the kid they signed from SF can play safety in a pinch AND is a special teams player.

If someone has an "attitude issue" - why wouldnt they be the first to go? Why not keep Ryan Smith initially?

I guess clarence's take is right this time though

Clarence Hill should repeat after Forest Gump.

That whole story line is just sensational - if true, makes zero sense

I don't care for this move at all. I have seen very little positive play from Jeff Heath. He's terrible in coverage and takes horrible angles. At least Dixon can be a box guy, not sure what Heath can do. This is a poor decision IMHO.

Is this something you saw this year, or still remnants from last year.

Glad our staff favors unathletic safeties with piss poor tackling skills and a total lack of field awareness over someone with potential to assist us in creating our very own Legion of Boom.

Hahah your man crush for this guy has been well documented. You declared he had made the team after two preseason games. He's a decent player but lacks the range you need to cover guys at this level. Hope he makes PS. But nothing to piss and moan over him being cut.

Its not about what we think they'd do, its about what they should do.

It's about what they did do. Which was obvious because of what they had done throughout preseason. You're obviously free to disagree, but if you thought they were keeping Dixon over Heath it was because of your own sentimental attachment to the player.

I get this feeling that - if a player isnt a starter - positional talent is secondary to ST talent. Sure you need guys who will play and give effort there, but 90% of the game is not ST. Heath is horrendous and he showed that in preseason.

I don't see any film on Heath where he takes bad angles like Roy Williams did.

Heath is the personal protector and captain on the punt team as well as playing on other coverage teams. He was never going anywhere. You can hate that fact all you want but it's the truth for all of us to deal with.

Exactly. I want to keep Dixon and think he will be a good player, but a lot of fans react to him like baseball fans do to a young hitter with light tower power but holes in his swing. If you overreact to the moonshot HRs you miss the fact that the player needs more time in AAA.

once again it appears Dallas didn't do it's homework on a player before the draft, should of had a work up on a players attitude ....

and now with three of this years draft picks cut and three other players brought in via other teams roster cuts or via trade on defense, shows that this team is really worried about this defense..

I keep reading how the Cowboys hope that this guy and others would turn into special team studs when they drafted them. Probably one of the reasons there is NO depth on this roster. Wasting valuable draft picks on special team fodder, instead of trying to find legitimate starters, or guys who can develop into good players. Something that has gone on since Jimmy left, then again after BP left.

silliness

Yes, because getting legitimate starters out of our 7th round and UDFA players is where this team is really lacking.

Stupid Cowboys fans.

I don't understand why not just cut jeff heath. That guy is a bum. Dixon showed more than jeff heath. Hope we atleast get him back to ps. Im pretty sure jeff heath could of made practice squad or is he not eligible?

One of our big problems is we seem to make alot of moves because of special teams and not try to get players that can actually play defense. That's why we have hardly no depth. Yes i know special teams is needed too but man when you start to draft players thinking about special teams and hoping he can turn into a player on defense you have a problem. Lets draft more FOOTBALL PLAYERS that excel at their position.

And this, my friend, is why we have zero depth when our starters go down. Our special teams coach has somehow convinced the front office that special teams make up 80% of a football game.

great minds think alike lls i just posted this above your post. Dang shame our coaching value special teams over actually playing there position. We will never have depth on defense.

Well said....And that is exactly the problem. I have a bad feeling Church is gonna go down this year. The guy racked up over 120 tackles last year. And if he goes down.....then what? What if Dixon pulls a Mitchell and decides to sign somewhere else? Talk about hanging your willy out for everyone to see:eek:
