did anyone watch last night(not holding my breath on that)? let's just say after watching, i think idol will be fine. ;)

*waits for the doubt to start coming*

I watch the first parts with the tryouts every season with my daughter. So I watched last night as well. I gotta say, Steven Tyler was a trip. He absolutely made the show. I have never heard the crew running the cameras and lights laugh that much before.

And for what it's worth, the 15 year old girl who looked at Randy with the big eyes and said "Come on Dog, Dog" cracked me up. Thank God for Tivo or I would have missed the next five minutes laughing.

I thought last night might have been one of the best AI shows I've seen.

I have not watched the last couple seasons. It seemed all that was getting pushed through was some form of Disney Channel cookie cutter artist (if thats what you can call them). I decided to watch this season strictly because of Steven Tyler. So far he has not disappointed

I have to agree about Steven Tyler. I'm a big fan now!
I've never cared for Aerosmith that much, though I have liked a few of their songs, but this guy is great. Just what the show needed. And honestly the show isn't missing Simon.

So far I'm more impressed with the judges than the contestants but it's still early. :laugh2:

I'm waiting for the entire reality tv genre to run its course. Ugh.

Really?

My cousin, back in 1996, told me that the internet was "just a fad"
(I had started a web business then, still have it) his brick and mortar business has been defunct since 2000?.

Agree on Steven Tyler. When I first heard that, I thought it was a terrible idea. But the guy is awesome to watch. He has a sort of trainwreck appeal to him too.

I don't get emotional at all about things on TV as I feel that they can be over dramatized or exploited to an extent...but this story got me to tear up.

He isn't the best singer I have seen on this show, but he is pretty good. He is definitely an awesome example of a person. I'm rooting for him and I hope he wins it all.

Not many guys have the guts to do what he's done.

Also - the judges this year are pretty good. Much better than last year. I miss Simon, but Tyler and JLo are lightyears better than Kara/Paula/Ellen.

Randy has kinda stepped into a Simon role, he's a lot meaner than he used to be.

More Chris Medina.

Here's an original song he wrote for his fiance... Probably will be removed soon since Idol makes their contestants remove all their music from the internet while they are on the contest, so watch while you can. Very legit story, I feel really bad for the both of them.

All I can say is wow. I'd root for him off of that alone.

That one definitely was a real tearjerker.

Steven Tyler is making this show. Honestly, he's more entertaining than Simon Cowell.

Always like Aerosmith and Steven Tyler.

I was skeptical that this could work out. Thought the show would tank without Simon. But so far Steven has done an excellent job. Where before I would wait to laugh at something Simon would say to belittle a contestant for doing a bad job...Now I wait for something for Steven to say that will make me laugh for a multitude of reasons.

That light a match line ( won't say it all as it is best not said here) had me rolling.

Plus you can tell that even at his age, even with the number of years he has been in the business, even with the problems he has had...he still loves and has a great passion for music. Where simon seemed to be just disgusted or bored with it all for the most part and even when he was excited it seemed like he was just seeing dollar signs. Passion for the money not the actual music itself. Hard to get across what I mean with simon...maybe not passion just for the money, maybe more the business side as a whole instead of just the music.

Now...still does not mean I will probably watch much beyond the first interviews as normally i just don't care for the type of music that Idol tends to try to push or the audience it caters to. But I got say Steven is doing a great job for the show IMO.
