Anonymous NFL executive says quiet part out loud about Cowboys' Dak Prescott

This Dak Prescott criticism hits very close to home.

By Jerry Trotta | 8:00 AM CDT

"He always does well enough to be in the top 10 but never gets over the hump," said an NFC executive. "He makes all the throws. He's playing the position at a high level. But something's missing. There are a lot of factors in that, from the running game, playcalling, defense, and Dallas hasn't won in a long while. But certain guys are going to elevate their team late in the game, and Dak doesn't seem to do that."

Well, tell us something we don't know....this guy is a genius, no wonder he stayed anonymous. Lol

As a Dak fan not only do I not find this harsh but I find it true. Also think it’s cowardly to say something and not put your name on it.

Elway never did anything until he did? He got his team to the Superbowl in his 4th and 5th season (and an AFC Championship game his 6th). Just like our... oh wait. Yep described just like Dak.

I wish Dak was so fortunate (for all Cowboy fans). In his first 8 years Elway won three times as many playoff games.

Oh the horror of "not doing anything until he did". Just wondering who the hell would compare the two honestly.
If Dak was really 0-3 in Super Bowls, he would be labeled a choker even more than he is now by this fan base. Fans would say he can’t win a Super Bowl and we need to move on and find a QB that can.

He said it, something’s missing. From the running game, playcalling and defense. Something has been missing for going on 30 years. It’s going to be extremely difficult for any QB to elevate this team when you have things that are missing, especially a defense that never shows up in the playoffs.

It's funny how the low football IQ cowards here always conveniently leave out the other major problems on the team while trolling Dak.

They try to pretend like everything else in our organization is solid except for the quarterback.

Dak ain't elite, but he was good enough to become an All-Pro and a MVP candidate without a functioning running game to help him out.

How do you know that, when it has not happened? You don't have any idea how fans would feel if Dak were to even get to a Super Bowl. Not sure what your intention was for posting that.

There’s a lot of low IQ cowards here. I don’t respond to them. They’re too stupid to waste time with. Someone has to be a complete knucklehead for me to ignore them. Dak is far good enough to win a Super Bowl if he had the team around him to do it.

Any team would be lucky to have that executive working for them.

Why because he's a coward for hiding in anonymity??

It's kinda like when you hide away from our board all week after we win and you wait until our next loss to pop back up.

I see why you like that exec. Yall both have something in common kid!

At the end of the day, the Dak Detractors and the Dak Devotees are both mostly right. He is both of the things they say he is at the same time. Both sides wish to paint him as one dimensional, but all players are three dimensional. There are layers, and this article is both right and a bit hyperbolic, as with most Dak takes on both sides.

He does win more games than most other QBs he’s compared to. But he does play unusually better against weaker opponents than stronger opponents, relative to the median QB.

He does seem to suddenly play a bit differently when the playoffs come around, but the rest of the team does as well.

He does win seasonal accolades for his statistic accomplishments. But those accomplishments are often quite a bit different outdoors vs indoors.

He does more than earn his paycheck when compared to the “market value.” But he is also a big reason the Cowboys are in the financial pickle they’re trying to navigate through.

He is the most prolific QB in Cowboys history. His stats also have generational context to them to describe why.

Both sides are right to a degree. The true answer is, as usual, somewhere in the middle.

Who the hell is this mystery NFL executive? He describes Dak as we used to describe another NFL QB, John Elway. He never did anything until he did. I hope Dak can be so fortunate.
Yeah, Elway only made it to two Super Bowls early in his career. Dak is just as good for sure there, bud!

The only time we don’t have to put up with him is when we win games. Him and his tag team partner lay low after wins.
