Ryan from Atlanta.

I don't think the question was who is better than Romo, but who is avaiable that would be better than Romo.

Wow I didn't realize all those guys were available. Sure Give me Payton or Brady but I doubt their teams let them go.

More Romo-defense from Jimz.

Just because there's not a better alternative out there in FA-land does NOT mean we should all be thankful to have Romo bumbling-away games in late December. We don't have to line up like good little fans and cover our eyes and ears and pretend not to hear/see anything. Oops, i mean

ROMO IS AWESOME

Anyways, what is "out there" at QB is a bunch of crap. So, we are stuck with Mr. Sept-Nov. and his big stupid contract. What JJ can do, however, is correct this mistake as soon as possible and draft a QB high and try again in a season or 2 when that QB is ready to play. However, I don't think Romo will take very kindly to that and will pout on the set of his latest commercial or photo shoot.

As for all the guys mentioning Cassell, i seriously doubt that guy will be as good away from New England. He has superior coaching and play-calling there.

Doesn't matter who the QB is, the main problem on the team - Jerry Jones - will remain.

And Matt Cassel is overrated. A system qb that will FAIL with whatever team he goes to.

Don't give up on Romo. He can get us where we want to be. Remember the Giants game. He's 4-1 against them, and he is 2-0 at their house.

I wouldn't take anyone.

I haven't read all 5 pages of posts to this thread, but if we are going to keep Garrett, I've been wondering if a straight-up trade Romo for Jason Campbell would better seerve the needs of both the Cowboys and the 'Skins.

Romo has always been more suited to a WCO IMHO and Campbell appears a lot more like Troy Aikman than Romo, and that's who Garrett's O is designed around.

I don't know anything about the contracts involved, but I am impressed w/ Campbell and he, like Tony, has had to deal with a multiplicity of coaches and OCs...

I'd like to replace Romo with the Romo of last year (well, September through November, anyway.)

We can only hope that he'll resume his high level of performance next year and that this year's problems were primarily due to injuries and secondarily to inferior game plans. That's our best hope, because if he isn't the right QB, we've got some more dark days ahead.

Absolutely no one. He isn't even remotely the problem. We need to get him a better backup and shore up the O-line.

Exactly. Romo is pretty far down on the list of issues this team has. He has things to work on, but with decent blocking from the o-line in these last few games, they would have gone much much better.

The thing with the o-line is that I can go name by name and they all are good players or have shown times where they were good. They just can't put it together in a consistent fashion. It's like a microcosm of our team as a whole.

I'm not going to blame Romo for the loss. At the same time, I've seen enough of Romo to know that we are not going to win a Superbowl with him. I love Tony Romo. I think he is a good guy and represents what is right with this world. He is approachable and fairly humble for an NFL QB. I wanted this guy to succeed more than anything but the guy unfortunately lacks the tools. Yes, he is athletic and skilled but he simply lacks the size and arm strength to succeed in the NFL. Under pressure, he can't stand in the pocket and deliver the type of accurage low trajectory throw that is needed in the NFL. Granted, there are not many QB's who have the size and arm strength to deliver that type of ball but that doesn't mean we don't try to draft one or acquire one in some manner in the near future.

I think Romo is a very good QB but I don't think it's coincidence why he fails late into the season. You face the best teams late in the season including the playoffs. The weather conditions get worse. Teams play with a certain sense of desperation so the intensity picks up. A QB is really asked to make more of those difficult throws and only the very best can really deliver in those circumstances. I don't think we should scrap Romo but I do think we need to groom his replacement and draft a QB with the protypical size and arm strength and let him sit behind Romo for 2 years.

I'm not ready to give up on Romo yet. It's hard to be productive without help and a supporting cast. Work on the 0-line. Work on finding a decent running game.

I'll keep Romo, thanks. A lot of you guys give up on someone too prematurely. What a joke.

Too rational. Where's the kneejerk?

At least tell me that you're on board with the idea of trading Witten for the good of the team.

I can't figure out why people play along with these threads that always go: "well who would you rather have? huh?huh? Usually people say get rid of a particular player when they are POed after a big loss. Enough with the stale questions. I'm sure they will tell you who they envision without an excuse thread starting up. Boring.

I would rather Draft a young QB like Colt McCoy (next Drew Breese) and be building something for the future. I am starting to believe Tony Romo is not the answer. He is a descent backup QB but makes too many mistakes to be a fulltime starter.

Dallas made their investment with Romo and I fully expect him back as the starting QB.
