Great game today, Kobe was lights out...52 and 11. It was a great game as a whole and a great end, Kobe took over at the end though, dude is pure clutch.

i only saw the last minute of regulation and over time, it was a hell of a game! i didnt know who to cheer for, the hated rival or the team tied with us for first, but ya kobe was great! as hard as odom tried to lose the game for the lakers kobe willed them. one thing i will say though is that dirk has always powned gasol, and that didnt seem to change much from the parts of the game i saw. But anyway, great game

Kobe is playing incredible.

Him and his team are a far bigger threat than the Suns or Mavs.

Dirk was better than Gasol today, wasn't too much in it but he was certainly more effective and then that three Dirk hit at the end was a dagger, I was still confident going into OT with Kobe though. Lamar had a bit of a weird day, I can't complain though cause he played his part in getting a win.

Much better than Pheonix and Dallas? yes, but I'm not gonna say anything about the Spurs. They have showed for a good few years that they win the big games and win in the playoff's...that would be a great series.

It was an incredible game. I watched the 4th quater and overtime. Kobe is just insane. He's been insane for quite awhile and it also surprises me he hasnt got not one freaking MVP...unreal. I liked when during a timeout Kobe was telling the team something like "We aint gonna lose today. Nope, we aint losing today."

Anyways back to the game, I was rooting against the Mavs cuz I freaking hate Dirk and the Mavs and thier owner too. The Lakers are playing good basketball, but at the end nobody will dethrown the CHAMPION SPURS..GOOO SPURS GO!!

oH..and Lamar Odom? I thought he once used to be a decent player. He was a mess out there and if wasnt for clutch Kobe, he could have cost them the game.

If Kobe Doesent Get The Mvp Im Gonna Be In Shock

ya, dont be surprised if lebron gets it though, as much as kobe deserves it, lebron is having a monster year, and the mvp is not a lifetime achievement award. I dont think you can go wrong with either guy, but if i had a vote right now id give it to kobe

Kobe has to get MVP this year, he has the numbers again and he has the Lakers at #1 in the stacked West. Lebron's numbers are great, but he only has his team at 4th in the less than average East.

Yeah, good game by the Lakers (and Kobe ). Dirk got hot in the 4th qtr, and kept them in the game far longer than they would have otherwise.

Kidd opens up the offense with his passes, but we still do not have a legitimate "go-to" scorer late in games, other than Dirk.

i still don't like doing dirk iso at the end of games.

also, no one on this team besides kidd seems to know how to make an interior pass. half of those blocked shots could have been easy dunks or layups if they player would just look up and see an open player in the paint.

and josh howard should just like never touch the ball.

and no one still cuts to the basket except dampier off the screen. When Kidd was able to back down farmar, i saw no one cutting to the basket. when kidd was able to penetrate, i saw no one cutting to the basket. this team still has A LOT of problems, and I don't think simply playing together will adjust that. Avery has to make adjustments, but I don't have faith that Avery can make those offensive adjustments.

Are you crazy? You don't like giving the ball to Dirk 20 feet from the basket, where he inevitably backs it up five feet or so, then turns and puts up a jump shot? [/sarcasm]

I don't like the idea of giving the ball to Damp unless he's arms-length from the basket.

Kidd is working pretty well in Dallas, but you're right about the movement of other players. I'm used to watching the Lakers so I'm used to the triangle offense we run and the players move and cut a lot, the Mavs don't seem to have much movement for Kidd to use his passing skills.

Its like they're two different teams. in the first 3 quarters, they're actually running some semblance of an offense, with cuts, screens and fast breaks. Then in the 4th, the PG is useless. All Kidd (or Terry) does is drop the ball to Dirk at the elbow and he backs down two steps, spins and fades. Everyone else stands and watches around the perimeter and if they double Dirk, he kicks it out for them to clank a three.

It's so frustrating to watch. They did it against the Spurs and the Lakers the past two games.

Then no one was playing defense yesterday, so if Dirk ever missed one, Kobe was going down the floor and the Mavs were losing ground.

the one thing i can tell you is that thats the same offense the spurs run, but they have tim duncan so its different. whenever you see the spurs the only players that cut to the basket are manu, tony, and brent and they do that on their own. Our offense is based on tim doing his thing down low and dictating what everyone else does. It works great for us, but i think avery needs to realize that his team does not have tim duncan and needs to stop trying to make dirk into tim duncan and adjust to what his players do best.

i agree. avery is trying to make us the spurs, but we don't have the personnel to be the spurs (Duncan).

instead of trying to mold the team into whatever image Avery wants, Avery needs to try a gameplan that fits the team.

i just wish somebody would just cut to the basket!!

and i dont get it. when kidd/terry was guarding luke walton on a mismatch, luke was able to back down his man for an easy basket in the paint.

when dirk is guarded by a pg on a mismatch, he shoots a fadeaway. :banghead:

ya, i noticed that on thursday, TP would guard him and he would just do a fade away 20 foot jumper, it was ridiculous

Kobe did it again last night, had a rough start to the game, but that 4th quarter was amazing. He just took over, his 11 points in a row is what won us that game, he even got a few MVP chants from the Kings fans which was unbelievable...they usually do nothing but boo Kobe.

34 for Kobe, 31 for Gasol...looking forward to Bynum coming back.
