Anybody else hear Florio on The Fan say Gruden will be next HC?

Like I said, it was a very talented team that year. Look at the roster, and Brad Johnson wasn't terrible that year.

Jon Gruden is going to be Mike Shanahan 2.0.

Johnson wasn't terrible that year but Gruden deserves the credit for that. Prior to Gruden's arrival in 02 Johnson's TD to turnover ratio was 13-13 in 01 with a passer rating of only 77.7. Gruden was forced to play Rob Johnson in several games in 02 due to injuries to Brad Johnson. Offensively the Bucs were average in 02 their top rusher only gained 718 yards averaging 3.5 a carry.

That SB was won by Tampa's defense. Not only did Gruden win a championship in Tampa with an average QB but he accomplished it against a Raiders team he helped build. Rich Gannon was a journeymen QB when Gruden brought him to Oakland in 99 and helped develop him into a solid QB who ended up winning a league MVP a few years later. Gruden is responsible for helping 2 average QB's become SB QB's.

I tell you what though. Gruden in Oakland was great. Even if he had a Dungy created team, Gruden knows his football.

57-55 with the SB is something to get excited about?

If you look at the list of QB's Gruden was stuck with Brad Johnson, Brian Griese, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski,Tim Rattay and Jeff Garcia coming up with a winning record and a championship was an accomplishment. In 2 full seasons Garrett hasn't been able to break 500 with Tony Romo. Gruden has 5 playoff wins on his resume being led by 2 journeymen QB's who failed everywhere else.

Gruden...........5 playoff wins, including an AFC Championship and a SuperBowl Championship.

Garrett...........4 year plan to break 500.

Dam, this is such a tough choice.......................I really cant decide which one would be better.....................maybe I should just flip a coin...........................HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I even made a thread talking about how for the first time Mickey was going after Garrett like a rabid dog the next day...............LOL

Yea, Mickey Spags...........Mr. Sunshine.......Mr. company man.............Mr. "If he is so good, why is he available"............just tore into Garrett, especially for punting on the Bears side of the field..........said it was a give up play...........ouch!!!!

Yep that turn around was a bit strange..........I thought it was also a bit strange the way Gruden was slobbering all over our offensive personnel, and said we should be in for a high scoring game. We all know how that turned out.

If Gruden had Romo his final 3 seasons in Tampa instead of Gradkowski, Simms, Rattay, Garcia and Luke McCown he would still be on the sidelines coaching.

Which makes the fact that Opie cant break 500 with Romo starting every game the last 2 seasons that just more astonishing.

Of course they love Garrett. They can half *** every single game and not have to earn their keep or be called out for it.

So when Red _ pulled Bruce Carter from the San Diego game and sat his *** on the bench it wasnt about his piss poor performance? Even tho the Ginger Clapper said it was after the game?

And he's had other sub par performances after he was allowed back into games. Further proving my point. There are no consequences for bad performance.

Your point hasnt been proved nor will it ever be. Its complete nonsense.

If you want to bash Red for his record thats fine. But making up complete foolishness and trying to pass it off as something of value you will be called out and kicked to the curb just like other posters who make up nonsense, and game classifications, etc.

Your point was that Carter was benched for bad performance. My point was that yes he was, but not for long. How is that nonsense? It is a statement of fact. Go ahead and kick it to the curb. Fact is players get infinite chances to fail. A coach that instills fear of losing in his players would have cut Carter long, long ago.

Certainly!

So he had a 57-55 record with the Buccs. If you get rid of the SB year, then his record is 45-51. You really want a coach at or under .500 coaching for the Cowboys?

If you get rid of Tom Bradys 5 Super Bowl appearances, what do you have?

A guy with still more playoff wins than Tony Romo

Yes the nonsense was kicked to the curb, My first reply to your post was the one where you said players can half *** every single game and not be held accountable. My reply was spot on and refuted your ridiculous claim about Garrett. Now you can follow in the footsteps of our resident Spin Meistrer and try to spin your way out of what you posted but just like him the spinning results in more kicking and more curb time.

Bash Garrett all you want, but do it for legit reasons and not some speculative unprovable unlikely nonsense.

Here it is, half *** every single game . . . . . . . . .

I gave one simple example with Carter to refute this nonsensical foolishness.

Heard it yesterday and have not seen anything on here about it. He said if they don't make the playoffs then JG is out and Gruden is in.

That would awsome.

B.W. Webb understands benching, but wants to show he's 'not going to go away easy'
Rookie cornerback B.W. Webb said he figured there would be rough moments in his rookie season.

Now that he’s been benched, he just wants to get back to work and prove something.

“That I’m not going to go away easy,” he said. “You’re going to have your ups and downs in this league. You just got to be able to shake it off and come back, be ready to work. I figured there was going to be a time like this. So, just got to get back to work.”

Webb was the Cowboys’ only option after Morris Claiborne went down with a hamstring injury, and he struggled. He was in coverage on touchdown passes against the New York Giants and Chicago Bears. In New Orleans, he passed up a tackle at the goal line, also getting benched in that game.

Two weeks ago, the Cowboys brought in Sterling Moore, whom Webb had beaten out for a roster spot in training camp, for cornerback help, and Moore spent this week working with the first team.

“I know I messed up a couple times,” Webb said. “I just got to get back to work, get on the grind again.”

He said he understands the mistakes he made in coverage, and that the game is not moving too fast for him.

“No, not really,” he said. “It’s just a lot more assignments at nickel. Just got to be on it every day.”

And he understands why he has been taken off the field.

“I mean, nobody’s cool with that,” he said. “But it happened. So there’s nothing I can say right now.”

Dallas would be .500 team with Gruden. If Dallas makes a move...it needs to be college coach who has strength in evaluations and motivations.

Actually I think that was a Jerry move, just after the Bears game he came out and said that we'd see different players on the field vs GB.
