Anyone still think Reggie McNeal can't play QB in the NFL?

For crying out loud, did you read what I said? VT reported Vick ran a 4.2, well then I said that college times are INFLATED. I didn't say he acctually ran a 4.2. And please check the history of the combine of how many players have ran in the 4.3-4.35 area. Deion Sanders himself ran a 4.29 at the combine. And since i'm apparently wrong that Vick was never reported to have a 4.2 40, here is his VT bio, last 2 sentences in the first paragraph

"Ran the second-fastest 40 in Tech football history during the spring at 4.25 seconds "

I'm not disputing that Vick "reportadly" ran a 4.2. You however used it to make a statement about Vick being faster, then when it was disproven, you backed off that and went to the inflated number.

And why is it so hard for you to believe that McNeal, who himself was an all-state DB in HS, can run a 4.3?

Like the previous poster said, whatever Reggie runs, it will be a hell of a lot faster than a 4.5.

Of course I'm going to include rushing stats, that's what makes McNeal such a special player. And again, I've never said anything about McNeal winning a SB or being a great QB, I've said he has more potential that most guys do.

And Grossman was never even in the top 20 on the Heisman list, ever. Florida threw the ball WAY, WAY, WAY more than A&M ever did, and so Grossman obviously will have better stats. Of course, me thinks thats why you picked him. Numbers arent everything kid...

God do you even pay attention to football? Rex Grossman was a heisman finalist in 2001

"Considered one of the nation's premier performers in the nation after finishing second in the Heisman Trophy balloting in 2001 (only the fifth sophomore to ever finish in the top two of that prestigious balloting)"

So? Certainly the soon to be most athletic qb in the nfl can overcome that?

Well, take away Limas Sweed, Jamal Charles and take tu's O-Line and replace them with A&M's, Vince Young wouldnt have even won 8 games this year.

Yes, numbers and intangibles are everything. I've hear many aggie fans (not you, of course)talk up that new qb of yours and how he doesn't fold like Mcneal.

Ok, I was mistaken. I didnt remember him being that highly touted. I guess the fact that he sucked it up late in his career is what made me think of that.

Anyway, Grossman was a system QB

If that were true, I wouldn't be saying Young had a better career than half of the NFL starting qbs.

Intagibles? Yes

Numbers? No

See, when I was 15, stats were really cool to me too. Eventually you'll learn that Texas Tech's QBs might not be the best, even though they put up the best numbers every year.

And you REALLY need to stop frequenting those idiotic sites like hornfans and orangebloods, they are warping your fragile mind

Yeah, Florida was sure putting up numbers without him...

Well, that would be true, considering before this year, VY hadnt done anything outside of the Rose Bowl. McNeal had.

What is there to back down from? Michael Vick hasn't run an offical 40 time and neither has Reggie McNeal. The only basis to discuss this on is their college times which as I mentioned before are inflated. Vick hasn't run an official 40 while in the NFL. The link you refer to was to Michael Vick's pre draft information. With the fact he didn't run at the combine where is the information coming from? They just threw a 40 up there.

Ok, if numbers (on the field mind you) aren't everything, why are you blown away by some 40 time?

Are you saying Troy Aikman doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame?

A 40 time and how many passing yards someone has are completely different, and for your sake I hope you can see that.

A 40 time is a god given athletic ability that can make some players better than others. 5,000 passing yards in a CF season measn you will bust in the NFL. See Andre Ware.

Uh, maybe because they went away from the fun and gun after he left?

Jeez....
Maybe they passed so much because they had (atleast what nfl scouts thought) a 1st round talent at qb?
THere is nothing to suggest Reggie had a better career than Grossman. Just admit it and move on.

Reggie didn't win enough or lead enough to be called a winner and a lead, and he didn't out up the numbers either.
But hey, the guys got potential

Florida also had 5 star recruits coming out the wazzu. They were one of the most talented teams in CF in the late 90s-early 00's. A&M didnt have anything near that kind of ability.
