Anyone still wish we'd taken Moss instead of Ellis?

for those that wish we'd have drafted this thug loser, whats he helped Minnesota win? what playoff games did he ever dominate? The guy is an embarrassment to the league with his me first attitude, all the off field probs and now admitting (wow, what a surprise) that he's a pot head

wonder if he's gonna get a 5 game suspension like Irvin did in 1996? I'm sure we'll see the league spin doctors say something stupid like "well, but Moss has never failed a drug test" and the media idiots will buy that, but Irvin never had a positive drug test either

Moss= LOSER

David

:jerk:

Why would he get a suspension unless he fails a drug test? Try making sense.

wow, thought that did make sense...maybe I need to draw you a picture

Michael Irvin--Dallas Cowboy player, didnt fail drug test, got 5 game suspension because it appeared he took drugs

Randy Moss-- admits he smokes dope, probably wont get suspended because he doesnt play for the Cowboys

got it now?

I agree about your feeling towards Moss but Irvin even though he did not fail a drug test according to him there was still this issue of being at a hotel with Roberts and a couple ****** with cocaine in their possession.

Uh, you don't get suspended for 'appearing to take drugs', are you friggin ********? That'd be like getting arrested for homicide because you 'appear to be a murderer'. So, you still aren't making any sense. Stop making stuff up, here's the truth.

Irvin pleaded no contest to felony cocaine possession on July 15 and was found guilty and sentenced to four years' probation, fined $10,000 and ordered to perform 800 hours of community service. He was also suspended for five games in the upcoming NFL season by NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue for violating the league's substance abuse policy. "You serve as a highly visible symbol of the Dallas Cowboys and the NFL," Tagliabue wrote Irvin. "While that visibility affords you substantial benefits, financial and otherwise, it significantly increases and magnifies the negative and detrimental impact of your misconduct on the league, its teams, its players and its fans (Richard Justice, "Cowboy's Irvin Draws Five-Game Suspension From NFL," Washington Post, July 25, 1996, p. D2)."

I have always said that Moss and Irvin would have been a bad mix. I'm still glad Jerry passed on him.

and the truth is he DIDNT FAIL A DRUG TEST...he was suspended basically conduct detrimental to the league (or whatever)...but he never failed a drug test...

so are you friggin ********?

At the time I was wanting us to draft Moss more then any player.

I was lucky enough to see almost all of his games while he was a Marshall and some of the things he did on the field made you do double and triple takes.

I remember one game they threw a short pass to him and a LB was coming towards him, he stiff armed the LB. A few yards later a CB was lowering his head for the tackle on moss and randy hurdled the guy the guy was just slightly bent going into tackle position and moss just jumped over him like a deer jumping over a fence....a few yards futher he juked a FS out of his shoes. It was one of the most amazing catch and runs I had ever seen.

However I also knew that he was slated to go to both ND and FSU and could not go for reasons (one being MJ). I remember someone at FSU saying that he was a man amongst boys just after watching him for 10 minutes.

Once he got to marshall you did not hear any further problems with him, maybe they hid it but I know when he was on the field he was always giving it his best...he played through injuries as well.

So yes I wanted him more then anything during that draft and thought for sure we were going to take him as the cowboys sent a rep to the town where Randy was living...Randy really believed, and was led to believe, that he was going to be a Cowboy and that is why he was so mad afterwards and has torched us everytime he has faced us.

HOWEVER....

Since we drafted Greg Ellis I have never looked back and complained about it...it serves no purpose then and it does not now no matter what he has done or has not done IMO.

It is water under the bridge and no use to cry over spilt milk.

Same thing with Byron Leftwich...he was the guy I wanted, but once we selected Newman I have not looked back...once again water under the bridge....woulda coulda shoulda does me no good.

the coke was probably Irvin's, but since he didnt admit it was we dont know for sure...he never actually failed a drug test

so he was suspended for being in a room with drugs and hookers...is that worse than running over people and admitting you smoke dope? I guess we shall see, but I bet he doesnt get suspended...hell Leonard Little was allowed back on the field with only a half yr suspension for killing someone while being drunk...Little got 8 games for man slaughter, Irvin got 5 games for being in a room with coke and hookers....something just doesnt seem right about that...I'm betting had Irvin been a Ram and Little been a Cowboy and both committed the same crimes, Little would have never been let back in the league and Irvin would have got a hand slap

Are you trying to compare saying you smoke pot once in a blue moon to the Michael Irvin cocaine scandal? How do you know Irvin didn't fail a drug test? Are you the league commissioner? Friends with Irvin? That's what I thought.

and how do you know that Moss hasnt done other illicit drugs? how do you know he only smokes it "once in a blue moon"....you do know why he ended up at Marshall dont you?

as for Irvin, just going by what the man said...said he never failed a drug test...Tagliabue never said he failed a drug test...the first level of suspensions for violation of the league substance policy is 4 games, not the 5 Irvin was given

i'm not going to judge him for what he does. Lord knows I've done some stupid things in the past. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't have said that. He's just asking for multiple random tests.

Just what I was thinking!

We should have taken Moss and not looked back!

I wish the character police would stop trying to compare the two. Randy Moss is a sensational wide receiver and Greg Ellis is an average DE. When has Greg Ellis ever been the focal point of the opponent's game plan or single-handedly changed the course of a game through his actions?

He's been good for Dallas, but you just can't favorably compare him and Moss and not be considered blinded by homerism.

Moss has one of the worst attitudes ever, and he is a thug

and Ellis is the best DE we've had since Haley or Tolbert...and he's alot closer to those than he is to Pittman

Let's see...how many years have they both been in the league? What has Ellis accomplished? How many wins has he played a huge role in?

What has Moss accomplished over those same years? How many W's would he have meant to the Dallas Cowboys?

Yeah...he's a bit of a jerk...he has his problems...but he really did nothing football wise in Minny but help them win games.

Yes, I still wish we'd drafted him over Ellis, and frankly, I don't know why anyone wouldn't. Unless having nice, hardworking good citizen types is more important to you than winning football games.

Irvin was a jerk who hurt his team with drug use and improprieties and suspension...has Moss ever hurt his team and organization as badly as Irvin did? Yet we still love Irvin because most of the time he was producing on the field.

I don't get the double standard regarding Randy Moss.

thats fine, but he's still a horrible team player who's never played on a super bowl team (and probably never will)...and he's still a thug

lets see how he does with Kerry Collins throwing him balls instead of Duante Culpepper
