Our owner has made some very candid public outburst in recent weeks which has supported my opinions this era on his priorities.

This is what I’ve always appreciated about our dysfunctional ownership and front office. In order to appeal to fans criticism and the hounding from media he often displays his honest feelings.

In the past he’s said he’d doing everything within his power to win and no one wants to win more than him but he’s unwilling to make any changes at the top even after admitting he’d of fired a GM with his record this era. Basically this means he only wants to win his way.

He’s also stated that remaining interesting and relative is the most important factor in order to maintain the record revenue hyping and promoting our iconic brand.

More recently he’s stated that going All In isn’t worth the risk as it could lead to lean years needing more of an overall rebuild.

The reason I bring this up is I think it’s time we adjust our expectations here. If our owner isn’t willing to make the decisions and moves to build more than an entertainment entity which simply maintains interest and relativity why are we beating our heads trying to figure out how to build a championship team or critiquing them for not building more than they have.

I’m not sure that’s a core priority anymore. Sure, if we stumbled onto another Super Bowl they’d be ecstatic and more than happy to take credit.

I think they are content with this level of success as it continues driving their record revenue enabling the celebrity status he’s pursued. At age 80 he still seems determined to stay the course of status quo regardless whether he’s delegated some responsibility or not.

He’s still intent on being the face of the franchise and where the buck stops . And the meddling with coaching decisions and players contracts persist which all too often influence the atmosphere , culture and potentially the strategic football mentality.

Until we can move on from these unfortunate priorities and distractions it’s very difficult for me to take this football franchise very serious. It’s become more of a sports entertainment venture which I believe is the core intention in order to prevent more serious pressure from the fans and media. Any success beyond that is purely coincidental or sheer chance.

The only thing dysfunctional are it's fans. Hopping on and off the wagon depending if times are good or times are bad.

Has he? Mabe w/ the overall record. However, that has a huge knife in the guts. The better record has more to do with Jerry's pathetic attempts to stay relevant. If we had a worse overall record, we'd have better players from the years we sucked. Instead, it's midround picks.

KC is the exception, no doubt. But look at the other super bowl contenders, and think about what they have in common. Some really good players. And how did they get those players? High draft picks, mostly. Rams got Aaron Donald w/ a high 1st. 11th, wasn't it? They don't win the super bowl w/o him.

How did Cincy suddenly become a super bowl threat? Easy, Burrows, first pick in the draft.

Yes, there is a lot more to it than that, no doubt. Smart FA maneuvering(Something we suck at), smart drafting (ditto), understanding postional importance(Ditto again).

We need a smart GM to take us over the top.
Fans of the other 18 teams are whining that their owner didn't hire the right GM...
Right , but at least they have an opportunity to finally get right. Much like the coaching carousel.

I’m not sure why we have confidence this 80 year old GM will?

We are one of only 4 teams in NFC who haven’t figured out how to make it to a Super Bowl since our last one .

Looks like the Diehard fans have stayed on the wagon with Record Revenue. They just complain all the way to the bank.

OK, but pointing at the crapp on someone else's shoes doesn't make you stink less.
I’m not sure all fans are capable of critical thinking.

We actually have some fans that have confidence in our 80 year old GM and Son will finally get it right. Lol

Whining is boring.
Then why are you in this thread? This is for critical thinkers . If you want to lead the cheers then start your own thread about how much confidence you have in our GM and front office or it comes off like trolling.

This is always where it ends with those whining about the whiners . It becomes personal because the argument is exhausted.

If that's your thought process, then why do you post in threads that are praising the Cowboys when clearly your critical.

Our blind owner and his son "Cap Boy" come out after every failed season and declare that we are all-in on the status quo before our players even clear out their lockers, and there is still the same question posed every year if Jerry is really all-in on winning...

I normally don’t .

It’s like the analysts in the booth critiquing the cheerleaders . It’s usually a deadend .

So you just come here to criticize the team and ruin the party for fans that don't think like you? Is that a fan? Or just some angry person who wants people to be just as mad as them?

You talk about trolling. These people aren't trolling they're being fans of the Cowboys, I think most would say what you're doing is trolling them. Since you are on a Dallas Cowboys forum.

At least try to have some self awareness. Your whining is not critical thinking.

We should all hope the Giants pay big money to both Jones and Barkley. Let’s see how they like blowing up their salary cap.

If you’re pleased with this ownership and front office results this era you’re more than welcome to cheer it on.

But be prepared for some pushback .

History is going to reveal the agendas that Jethro has presented this era that has hindered the success of our franchise .

Most fans I know at least here locally realize these concerns. And continue their criticism. We are the real diehard fans pushing for change while calling out the symptoms .

And it’s unrelenting fans who continue supporting Jethro Jone$ ways which enable him to continue and become adversaries for progress and change.

It is evident fans are not demanding a winner. Contending is good enough.

I see some reference to bandwagon fans but what % of the fandom is really that? I would think after 27 years, they would have fallen off and stayed off.

Posters complaining about the way the team is run aren't whining, they are simply voicing their opinion and venting out of frustration.

The Joneses are more interested in the bottom line. Therefore, championships.are the lowest item on the totem pole.

Good point.
Unfortunately there’s not enough hopping off or the record revenue wouldn’t continue .

In the mid to late 80’s the fans forced change as the half empty stadium and lack of financial support ran off Bum Bright.

Shame we couldn’t bring the same sort of change this era.
