That is 100% how I feel.

After that clusterfudge last year and even higher salaries kicking in, does anyone really think we were going to win the super bowl in 25/26? Really?
Of course not but if most everyone stays healthy we probably could have been more of a 8 -10 win team with outside shot for a Wild Card. Thats our ceiling for this team.

Of course 10 or even 11 wins this year in NFC wouldn’t have enough. But it is most years. Sometimes 9 wins is enough.

Here's my question, of the guys realistically available, who would you really have wanted? Ben Johnson was never coming here. After him seeing come up with one of the worst game plans ever in the playoffs, I wouldn't have wanted him. Vrabel was always going to the Pats. Saleh went back to a DC position. Moore or Deion Sanders? Seriously?

We don't know how things will go with Schottenheimer. He's been around some good offenses in his time. I'm not saying he'll be great but I'm not giving up before the season starts.
Short answer is we’d like to be more in contention for those guys who aren’t interested in coming here. The fact we aren’t is why our hope is limited with more candidates not sought by other teams .

Who, of any available coaches, has come out and said they have no interest in coaching here? Who do you think we were realistically trying to get and they told us no?

Wow, in a year in which there was the possibility to bring back Deion Sanders as a killer proven coach, backed up by his son Shedeur at QB, which might have just happened with a trade of Dak to the Browns for their #2 pick. Do you know what this would have meant folks? So long as Jerry allowed such a thing to develop and he stayed out of the way a bit, I am afraid we just lost out on the potential for what would have been the most unbelievable dynasty to ever hit sports, all sports. Deion's eyes would have been eventually set on trying to attain the most SB rings, which would have meant with him only having 2, in order to beat Brady's 7, Deion would have needed 6 more. Such a dynasty as the potential that this one may have had I personally feel would have brought back to back to back to back to back SB's. In fact I would have guaranteed it so long as Jerry stayed out of the way, and one last variable was added to the killer dynastic list; a manager who would manage the talent acquisition and draft; Jimmy Johnson.

This decision just cemented the fact that the cowboys won't stop with all the horribly cheap decision making when Jerry dies. It was his son that had to convince Jerry on this one, which tells us all one thing. The son will give us what we have gotten for the past 20+ years, only he will do it for another 30+ years to come.

I am so hurt by the decision to hire an unproven offensive coordinator, when all of what I just shared was actually on the table and potentially doable. So hurt in fact, I am now officially giving up my 55 years of Cowboys fanship. I'm fairly tough, but honestly, I can't handle this stupid $h\+ anymore, it's going to kill me if I continue. So for what it is worth you guys, I wish you the best, good luck, and I only hope the best for you all.

Is schotty calling plays? Has that been confirmed yet?
I was wondering the same thing. I saw something on BTB in an article about Dallas going after Slowik as OC. It mentioned that Schottenheimer wants to call the plays.

I don't know how happy I am, but he's as good as any of the other coaching names that have been brought up. If he turns out to be a good coach then I'll be happy. I liked his father when he was in the NFL. I watched a lot of NFL games for Kansas City when his father was the coach.

Well at least this signing unites us all on the Zone!!

What a disaster signing really and let down for us fans who still kept hope in our franchise.

Just gutting really watching what is about unfold in the next few seasons and our best players who will want out.

Jerry and Steven have officially destroyed us. :(
