Folks nothing has changed. This is just a continuation of the stuff Jerry has already done for years. What is different now is the wizard’s curtain has been pulled back for all to see.

This is not a healthy organization. And hasn’t been for a long time.
Yep........and this is the very reason WHY the answer to the poll, is a qualified, YES........

This is the confirmation, if one were needed, that Jerry just wants hands on control, via a puppet whilst paying him peanuts.

A yes man that 'knows the organization' ....and can be manipulated, we dont need these innovative Johnson, or masterly influential guys like Glenn.

Taking a religious bent, 'The End is Neigh'.......but at least THIS WAY IT'LL BE ACCELERATED. Unfortunately, we have to get worst before Jerry ceases control as GM, employs an independent GM and we catch up and move into the 21stC.

From 0 yes 19 no, now to 0 yes and 44 no lol
Jerry's not giving up control until this shipwreck sinks. the echo chamber he's creating (with his voice the only audible one), is the start. Nobody, upon nobody thinks this was a 'Best man Available scenario. He's employed a 'Yes Man' who's prepared to do as he's told and because of this Jerry's just lost one of his 'scapegoats'.
Happy with the appointment, heck no, there were a lot more interesting/innovative/inspiring options, but failure is a directly linked to Jerry.

Look, he's only got here because he has a successful and famous dad, I get that.

What I don't get is why his dad's success in leading the atomic bomb development back in the 1940s gets his son a job in the NFL, there's no correlation. Maybe the recent movie has helped with immediacy bias or something?

They appear to be scared, insecure, closed minded, pearl clutchers who havent realized nobody wants their worthless petty pearls and everone has plenty of their own diamonds. They seem to not be able to tolerate an opinion that doesn't align with the worldview and perspective they have. This was seemingly internal sabotage. They have self-isolated and even in that they have done a horrible job of choosing, keeping, and valuing the right people. I don't even care if they do win. Terrible decision on the Joneses part here. This hiring is completely devoid of and totally lacks any logical football based IQ. Its just dumb...so incredibly sad to see them fail themselves and our fans in these embarrassing ways routinely for 35yrs now. They've learned nothing apparently. Its fascinating how astonishing this is. Even if Brian wins a super bowl his resume at this point, at this pivotal juncture does not at all in any way merit a promotion of this magnitude. I'm confused It's like they don't want success.

I voted No and honestly it has nothing to do with Schottenheimer. He might be good, I doubt it but anything is possible. The “process” of finding the coach is what I have a problem with. This again was an example of absolutely no plan or long term thinking. Just like the approach the FA. They went cheap and went with what’s comfortable. I said this in another post but this move reeks of motivation to coddle the three biggest babies in the NFL: Dak, Jerry and Stephen.

But you know what that’s not even the biggest problem for me. The biggest problem for me is what this hire represents. This hire represents the Jones, specifically Stephen, has no clue how to build a program and run the team. Since Jerry is close to the end this move represents no hope for the future with Stephen running the show.

I have been a fan for 50 years. My 3 lowest moments are in order:
1. The 94 NFCCG loss to the 49ers
2. “The catch” game against the 49ers
3. Hiring Schottenheimer yesterday. This hire hits differently then Phillips, Garrett and even Campo because it represents the Jones will always fall back to nepotism and their comfort zone, and that combination doesn’t work.

I voted yes for 2 reasons.
1. This team is far from competing and this move pretty much guarantees the rebuild sooner and #2, no more excuses for Dak!
Dak got his hand picked HC!
It’s time to put up put up or shut up!
My feeling that this is all going to blown up and the sooner that happens the sooner we can move on from Dak.
I give them 2 seasons to turn this thing around and I doubt that they can. We are going to be bottom feeders in the NFL for the next several seasons.
The sooner they implode the sooner we can put this mushroom cloud of this Cowboys error in our review mirror.
This team wasn’t winning anything any time soon anyway. The sooner the rebuild can start the better chance we have to strive to mediocrity and not futility.

While most fans are shocked at the selection, is it really a surprise? Jerry prioritizes comfortability and familiarity over experience and performance. Why else would you pick a journeyman OC, who didn’t even call plays last year and thrust him in the dysfunctional circus that is the Dallas Cowboys for the sole reason he makes your QB comfortable and preserves continuity?
Sadly this is an organization in dire need of change, but won’t effect change to the extent it needs to improve the team.

And who knows how much of a factor Dak had in this selection. I think Jerry listens to Dak because of how much money he is paying him. Dak has been coddled and treated with kid-gloves since his ascension; he has never had to earn the starting QB position; the offense had to be dumbed down for him; and now he wants a guy who will most likely keep the same system and won’t have the expectations of him for a guy making $60MM per year that a new coach from outside the organization would have.

This team has done nothing thus far to improve from last season. But when the primary criteria in hiring coaches is to placate the GM and QB by essentially maintaining the status quo…well that is just insanity given the results of the team.

yea, i dont know why he was banned, we re the team that sucks, hes just enjoying it.
I still cheer for the team, but gotta say that one of the highlites of the games for me this last year were the shots of Jerry in his skybox crying into his whiskey in games we got humiliated in.

Cheer for the team, hate watch Jerry.
Think win-win!
