How in the world can 23 people actually think this is good? Looking at shottenheimers resume I fail to see anything that says yup this guy is a good coach.
Actually, I ask the opposite. How can anyone think this is bad? Ask yourself, do we have a super bowl team? Is there any hope that we can form a super bowl contender?

My answers to those questions is not close.

So, why would you want a HC who would lead us to 9-10 wins? What would be the point of that? Why not hire a scapegoat, one who will hopefully lead us to tank land. Why not think about the future, some high draft picks toward the time when we finally get some bloated contracts off the kitty?

I didn’t post because I’m neither happy nor unhappy. I have no idea how he will be as a HC, especially here.

Schott wouldn’t have been my choice simply because I don’t want him being the OC and play caller. I preferred to have shaken things up there and gone with someone in the Reid, McVay or Shanahan tree for OC. But everyone should’ve known continuity for Dak was most important to the FO. It’s why McCarthy had to keep Kellen More when he was hired.

No, hard to believe they are going to spend this offseason after this hire. Look for more mass deportations again this offseason and a top 12 draft pick again next season.

Let's gauge everyone's opinions in the heat of the moment .. :D

As always, there's no easy out option on these polls.

If you do not want to vote YES or NO, feel free to share your opinions in replies to this thread.
I just really don't know enough about this guy. Just because it's not a romantic, slam dunk coupe...doesn't mean it's already a bust.

On second thought, I'm going to vote yes. I don't usually got for change for the sake of change...since we can't change Jerry out, HC it is.

EDIT: I reserve the right to change my mind!

Everything I’ve read suggests he is a leader. Has the right personality to lead a room. He’s got a commanding presence and obviously has coaching in his blood. Some people will call it nepotism, I call it experience. Obviously dak wants him and well, if he’s going to here (and he is), then that’s a good thing.

There isn’t a single retread or hot assistant that moves the needle for me. They’ve all lost and won.

So yeah, I’m behind the fire and will support the guy rather than throw my hands in the air and whine like a child.

Just Give Coach A Chance

Some folks are really going to block and chastise others because they said "yes"?

Good lawd...I left grammar school 60 years ago.

I’m of the minority who feels Brian will do fine. It all boils down to Jerry allowing Brian to thrive. Dak’s contract is an anchor to success though. The NFL is set where the worst team can beat the best team on any given Sunday because of the financial cap. Therefore, Brian needs to be shrewd about talent and money spent. Jerry hasn’t learned that.

Here's my question, of the guys realistically available, who would you really have wanted? Ben Johnson was never coming here. After him seeing come up with one of the worst game plans ever in the playoffs, I wouldn't have wanted him. Vrabel was always going to the Pats. Saleh went back to a DC position. Moore or Deion Sanders? Seriously?

We don't know how things will go with Schottenheimer. He's been around some good offenses in his time. I'm not saying he'll be great but I'm not giving up before the season starts.

I voted no but there should be 1/3 option and that would be to be determined like maybe let's wait and see....

I don't know what I feel how do we know without actually seeing how the staff gets filled out how the offseason goes and let the man either prove he's the wrong or the right choice we need to see that over the next two or three seasons if he makes it that far nobody knows how this is gonna workout hell almost all the other hires that everybody else wanted could end up failing I've seen it I've seen some of the biggest names in football fail at head coaching they were great coordinators or great head coaches in college and they all failed this is not easy maybe him being around the NFL for so long maybe having his dad Marty being a head coach for so long maybe he has a clue on how to deal with this better than a first time head coach normally would but anyone predicting like this great success by these other hires their first time head coaches they could easily be less successful than this hire we just don't know..

.
Here's what I don't understand,

this place has been complaining about this possibility of him becoming our head coach since last Sunday...

You would think all week of this venting there's at least six different threads open with Schottenheimer's name on it a lot of anger and disappointment and just utter negativity ,you would think by now it's so watered down and that people were starting to become accepting of it ,because there's nothing else we can do, but again everyone's going to repeat everything they've been saying since Sunday all over again this week ,since now it's a reality and I don't understand that..

It's almost as if the fan base should have been tempered by now ,you know it should be already have gone through the emotions, and now just hey let's wait and see before we give judgment let's see what the staff is going to be... I'm still interested in knowing whether he wants to be the full time play caller slash OC and head coach ,which I believe if he really wants to truly learn to be a head coach he should be a walk around head coach with input into the offense.. He should get a offensive coordinator that can also do the play calling that would make me more comfortable maybe the student needs to learn to be a leader and to do so you can't have your focus split... I'd rather have him just be the head coach get the staff he wants assembled and let them help him succeed.

I feel like if he's too focused on the offense and play calling and the game plans for the offense that it's going to be tougher for him to transition into all this, especially here in Dallas he's already being pinned up as the poster boy for negativity towards Jerry... I mean he's a sounding board now for Jerry's mistake and this is not Brian schottenheimer's fault, I'm not happy with the hire but what exactly are we supposed to do?
I mean as a fan base all we can hope for is a little bit better off season, a spectacular draft, and hope that Jerry in order to bolster his choice here in order to prove his detractors wrong he will have a better offseason... he will give schottenheimer the tools meaning a better roster as far as the run game at least in a better wide receiver2, I mean if he can get some healthy players back and have a just a good offseason just an improvement over last year ,let's focus on the run game and let BS focus on delegating..

I feel bad for Brian Schottenheimer, I really do, he's going to be call day disappointment and failure before he has a chance to prove otherwise and that's all Jerry's fault and I think it's a fan base be a human stop being such a self-entitled angry you didn't get your way toddler because that's not going to get us anywhere because the season will go on with or without you it's already headed in that direction there'll be a football season so let's focus on football and hope and just really hope that this just happens to turn out to be a whole lot better then we initially are thinking.

I for one am going to give the guy a chance what other thing can you do.....

Currently 92% to 8%. Given that you could convince 8% of the population that the world is flat, this is about as close to unanimous that you could possibly get in the sports world.

I mean, come on field management, situation football, everything else is handed to him. If that’s all he has to worry about I don’t care anymore, I really don’t , I watch and I enjoy.
