How do you know he has not?

Little to no improvement is a clue! Even if he is working harder to improve (rededicate himself to his craft) then he's going about it the wrong way or his coaches are, or if all that is in place (his instruction being good) then maybe he is a lost cause as a safety. Something with him ain't clickin'. My personal opinion is his "probowl ego".

I still think Roy is one of the best S in the league. He has problems turning his hips and breaking to the ball. Great S like Ed Reed have been doing that all of their lives so he will have to get used to it. When the ball is in front of Roy, he is the best safety in the league. He's a game changer and has 7 turnovers this year.

I think it can be learned. Alot has to do with your athletic ability. Jimmy forced me to cover at the CB my rookie year so I learned how to do it. It made me a better cover safety. Mike Zimmer and the defensive staff need to put him in cover situations like that during practice.

I don't ever see Roy moving to LB. That's a different beast. You don't see many safeties doing that.

Good constructive criticism and I don't know why anyone would get upset by it. If these guys were pulling a skip bayless and just slamming a player with no real knowledge of what he is talking about then I would expect people to be upset but this is just former greats giving advice to a player they want to see succeed.

The funny thing about this, is that when I visited a practice in Oxnard, Roy was lined up against Eddie George in a similar role (CB).....Eddie George looked like he was playing against a DT.....Roy had no chance......I was thinking to myself, "I'm glad this is a 7 on 7 drill".........

I don't know about you guys, but I am tired of holding my breath when I see a QB drop back and look to that side. You know how the network only shows a certain part of an angle before the ball goes up in the air.....The next thing you see a different camera switching to the secondary and the ball is overthrown, but the WR has Roy beat by at least 8 yards....It's frustrating!!:bang2:

Please don't make me answer that.....I will sum it up for you grasshoppa....Confucius says, "Roy Williams in coverage is like giving a whale a Tic-Tac"..........

Ok.....so how about when BP says it on NFL Countdown.....is that any different from Mel Renfro? I can see if T.O. or T-New, or even Wade Phillips said it publicly. That would be more detrimental than a proven former NFL player who has achieved HOF status......If I were Roy, I would bow down and ask Renfro to teach him the "force".... I mean look at how many current NFL RB's go up to Los Angeles and play Chess with Jim Brown. What do you think they are doing there? They are learning how to improve their craft!!

How do you know? Ok, if he has then he needs to "re-dedicate" himself, because to me it sounds like you are satisfied with his current performances.....To me it is also sounding like he's achieved the best he can possibly attain..........

I think that he's young enough to improve, but he's got to dedicate himself to his craft. He needs to be the Peyton Manning of SS's......He's only 27, and he has at least 4 more "young years" to study and work on his feet......

True HOS, but wouldn't you think that someone has been doing this by now....I mean especially when Parcells was here, don't you think he and the secondary coaches spent time with him in the film room and gave him a list of things to improve on......Geesh, it's a lost cause. Roy has been given a lot of money to perform, and he's barely meeting expectations. Woody was at least 6x's better than Roy.

It's okay to be a Roy W fan, but don't let your bias blind you. Like I said, it's no different than everyone else belittling Roy W's bad technique. I don't think Roy W. watches T.V. anyways. I don't even think he's included in the film study during practice. You know, it could be possible that Roy Williams is a mute.

I have repeatedly said Roy is weak in coverage, but has other strengths. Some of these jabronis think Mel has validated their claims that Roy sucks and that is not what he said at all.

I'm a fan of Roy William as well. I have seen him make many big plays for this team since he has been on this team and yes I have seen him get beat at time. I also saw guys like Harris and Waters get beat at times but I did not dump on them. Roy is a good player but yes he has certain weakness that can be worked on and improved. I don't think any player is beyond learning. Matter a fact as many players get older the learning becomes even more critical because what you may start lacking in physical talent you had as a younger man you need to make up with knowledge of the game to get that extra step on the opponent.

Well I saw that you were from Arkansas, and it reminded me of the cover of Yahoo.com where a man found this huge diamond at that park....So it kind of reminded me of a statement Emmitt Smith made similar to the contrast of a diamond in the rough, of which Roy W is not..........
