At what point do we give up on the Romo-Ware-Witten-Garrett core?

Yes, they are the default leaders of a franchise that is trying to overcome a label they established for themselves. They gameplans are centered around them for us to have success and yet again they cant motivate/lead this 2013 past their .500 image. This team starts and ends with those 3 and its time to change the faces of this franchise. They are also responsible for being company men that sale that same crap Jerry, Stephen and Garrett is pushing on us without any good consistent winning results. Just listen to them, they all sale the same hope just with different words. None of them are REAL but they are always forced on us as the spokesmen of the Cowboys and that phoniness is I believe is evident in the lockerroom. Garrett is gonna lose this team and its because the other players dont believe in said core and their message coming from the top. Too much public PC!

Well, then, I can see why you might bail, if you believe all that. Personally, give me some better pass defense, like we've seen at other times this season, and I'm pretty happy. Since Romo, Witten, Ware, and Jason don't have too much to do with our liabilities stopping the pass, I have a hard time giving up on them for it. Obviously, we'd all like to see all of our team leaders continue to excel and play at an even higher level, but I'll save my frustration for the things I think are most likely to be the things that are actually getting us beat. It's similar to why I was saying all offseason that better OG play wasn't really going to help us very much and that we needed to work in turnover differential and, yes, pass defense. I feel like a broken record, but so far this season, it's turning out to be the case again, too.

Yes they were :
Exhibit 1 romo hits witten perfect on the numbers . Ball bounces off witten chest forced to punt .

Exhibit 2 3rd and 2 with over 2 min left ware jumps offsides like a Rookie =game over . What "great " player constantly does stupid stuff like this ?

The pass to Witten should have been caught, but if you watch it Romo should have thrown it over wittens shoulder as he was in stride.

If we dump romo for a running qb especially a garbage one like Pryor or the current spare taking snaps in Columbus I will be sick.

And will probably check out for a while. I despise those running qb's and those bush league offenses.

I agree, since JJ is so great on wasting 1st round picks (not Fred) or unloading the farm for a man-crush.. I really wouldn't mind getting K. Cousins IMO, to bad we're in the same division...

I feel you but I see it as the opposite I guess. I think all of the passes lead to our liabilities (stupidity). I'm being serious when I say we are too mistake prone in the passing game for it to be our strength. Whether its a Romo Int, OL jumping the gun, dropped passes, snaps over Romos head, sacks they all lead to bad down and distance for this scheme. Weve seen everything untimely in that part of the game and that falls right on Romo JG and Witten (culprit of several penalties) week in and week out. I loved the OG situation until I realizes it was upgraded to pass more. A Ware led defense had also failed us when we needed it the most whether by failing to stop the run or pass late and IMO its because they play too much not to lose instead of a wonning it mentality. I cant help it Ware doesn't make enough plays late for his defensive followers to believe in him as well as themselves to make a play.

Yes I exaggerated. But how about Romo/Garrett combo. What is the record as them together as coach and QB? It has to be below .500. Can you at least admit that these two will not lift a Lombardy trophy together in Dallas. One has to go.

Garrett's record as OC (2007- 2012) is 55-43-0
Garrett's record as HC (Mid 2010 - 2012) is 21-19-0

This should have happened already IMO. We could have traded Romo away to a team like the Bills or Browns for a #1 pick in 2014, we could have then traded a #2 or #3 for a QB like Alex Smith, and then in 2014 we could have drafted our future franchise QB and he could have played behind Smith for a year or we could have traded Smith at that time. Also, we could have traded Spencer for a 2014 2nd round pick, and who knows what we could have gotten for Witten and Ware. We seriously could have rebuilt this team if we wanted to. Instead we are stuck with the same core group of players who Jason Hatcher didn't even recognize as leaders.. what does that tell you?

Then we wouldn't be strapped to Romo's massive contract. The guy has NEVER gotten it done here and he was clearly our weakest link against the Commanders last year in the win and you're in game. I get it, tons of people are in love with him since we went through a decade with sucky QB's before he came a long. However, for whatever reason, he is not the answer here to lead our team to the super bowl.

You are 100% right, couldn't agree more.

Does anybody have any issue with this? Bravo my friend. Take 5 or 6 of the realists on this site and I guarantee you we would do a better job of building this team than this jones nightmare family.

Do you have any issue with the scenario he presented? Why do you consider these four untouchables?

Even if we wanted to move on from these guys (we don't) the economics say we can't.

No use even wondering about it really.

I'm not sure there is a single team that wouldn't take any of these players onto their roster (in abstract) at their current prices.

None are overpaid.

All among the best at their positions.

Because they are, at least for this season, that is why I don't dog them, I root for them to help them get to where they want to go...but I love seeing where it all goes at the end, not right away like you Romo UH-STANS.

(what ever that means)

Romo has proven he's at least a top-10 QB. Garrett hasn't proven he's anything but a replacement-level coach.

Which is why some of us have been begging for Jerry to get Romo to get a real, proven, quality NFL offensive-minded coach before he's done. Instead he gives him the son of a former employee learning OJT . Sad.

No playoffs this year and it will be very soon. Like 2014.

How many more years of this before we realize it's never going to happen for this core? Have some of you already come to this conclusion?

Just curious b/c we've changed a lot of pieces around these four but it always equals out to 8-8. Maybe its just not meant to be for these four in Dallas.

Ware was MIA yesterday until a timely offside. Witten with a key drop. Romo does not look like a 100M dollar QB. Garrett is still robotically preaching the process. Anybody else just sick of this **** with this core and ready to move on from all of it? I mean for crying out loud folks it's been a decade of this misery!

If you want to ruin your young talent like Dez, then I guess we could just get rid of all of those guys and bring in a QB to the caliber of a E.J Manuel, G.Smith, B.Weeden, C.McCoy, S.Bradford, J.Freeman, C.Ponder, or C.Henne, because a team usually runs through a few QBs before they find one. Usually when teams are looking for a QB, it takes them multiple years just to even find a guy they like, and even then that QB could still end up being a bust. So now you just wasted 3-5 years looking for a QB when you already had a top 10 QB in Romo.

If our owner really was as dumb to do what you just suggested, then we would waste all of our younger talent such as B.Carr, S.Lee, D.Bryant, T.Smith, D.Murray, B.Carter, D.Bailey, D.Harris, and more. So now not only are we looking for a top 10 QB or better, but we're also looking for skill position players as well.

I'm sorry @Zordon , usually I understand where you're coming from and can respect your position, but you're way off base here. I understand your frustration with the team though, it's very disappointing being a mediocre team.
