Why??? Eat it this year and get it over with!!! You can't even use that money on FAs!

They can't reasonably eat it all this year.

Wait, I forgot. We can do whatever we want in free agency.

Front Office failure, if true.

Only if you live in delusion. So many of us were trying to tell people he has little trade value, given his age, health and money he will command. No one is giving up much of anything to trade for someone like Romo, who has completed back to back games since 2014. Can't take a hit any longer. Even a normal NFL hit. What did you expect to get for him? This was inevitable. Dallas is ready to move on from this ongoing soap opera. The most I ever saw us getting was a 5th round pick. Are we going to hang on to him to try and get that? Move on and get your backup.

It's the ONLY reason. Period.

You are continually wrong on this.

You are simply looking at his cap hit. But cap hit isn't the same as what is owed. His salary this year is $14MM. That's all the new team would have to take on for this season, not $24MM.

The Cowboys have to eat the $10-11MM difference between his salary in 2017 and the overall cap hit.

He's currently owed $24 mil this year. NO team is trading to pick up that contract. How hard is this to understand????
You are 100% wrong ...calm down with the insults because you clearly don't understand

He is due 14m this year, none of it guaranteed and the new team has 2 team options at 20m each that they can decline at no cost

It does damage their perception (why did you put that word in quotes, anyway?). But in their case, that damage is offset by the fact that they win. But you're fooling yourself if you don't think there are good players who don't want to play in that environment.

As I said, the real hurt (if this happens, which at this point is still a premature assumption) is missing out on the pick. That's bad enough. You don't need to go looking for ways to sprinkle arsenic on the turd. The turd is bad enough.

The Patriots have been poor at drafting and retaining players but it gets masked because they have the greatest QB ever

Guys...this is Jerry's last look and showing his cards. Teams now know that tomorrow every team will be able to
come at Tony with offers driving up his own deal. If a team is really thinking about getting Romo without
negotiation, this is the last day to buy into that trade. This is like the KMart Blue Light Special. This is a time
sensitive last chance to get the best QB on the market before the whole world gets to make an offer. Jerry
is playing the odds right now.
This is possible.

Makes no sense to release him before June 1st. But this night not be about normal football and money.

I do like the way the first report is worded. Barring a "strong offer".

Like if we don't get a #1 we are just going to cut him. LOL.

When are you guys going to realize that teams are NOT going to trade anything for Tony. It has NOTHING to do with his talent or his value. It's his contract. No team wants to trade for him and have to pay his current contract (which they will inherit). They're going to wait until he's released and try to sign him to a new contract. Some of you posting on here simply do not have a clue how this works.
he said he would rework his contract. Of course he has value.
are you serious? do u really think no other teams are interested in him?

Why are so many obsessed with the saved cap space? We know they won't use it to sign anyone in FA. Best case we overpay a few "solid" guys of our own who don't make plays.

This is the biggest problem with this fo and team. We fall in love with our own guys who are just ok and could easily be replaced with a ton of other players, and pay them as if they are something they aren't.

I just don't trust the evaluation of value outside Will.
