Battlefield 3

It runs excellent. I have an older proc, a Q6600 that i've been running with for 3 years now paired with an xfx 6870 and it runs smooth on High settings. It's so much better than the recent closed beta it's comical. I knew the beta was an older build of the game, but It was probably REALLY old.

I was able to do the VPN cheat to unlock my game on the 24th and start playing, and I "worked" from home yesterday, haha.

It seemed to run decent on my E6600 (same CPU except just 2 cores) with a GeForce GTX 460. Though I just bought (literally just now) an ASUS Crosshair IV Formula motherboard and AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition CPU from Newegg. Hopefully I should be good to go for a few more years of gaming. :)

What is your name in game? I'm SlaughterMachine (though, I'm the one that is getting slaughtered most of the time haha)

I am having some multiplayer problems on the 360 trying to connect to a game.

Search for a game and click in on the right thumbstick.

From there, select the region you want to connect to. For some reason my default region was Japan.

Selected all 3 US regions instead and haven't had too many problems. Saw a couple instances of lag but not sure if that's me end or not. Just moved some things around with the modem and router but mostly good so far.

Yeah, first time I connected it connected me to a server in Japan. Warning, don't use the Quick Connect without setting up your filters first! :laugh2:

What resolution do you play at? I'm hearing people say VRAM usage is over 1gb to 1.5 gb ish depending on MAP and running on ULTRA settings. I think 460s max out a 1 GB VRAM although they did have a 764 MB version.

Note: I haven't confirmed the VRAM usage yet since, I don't have the game.

Mine has 1GB of RAM. So far I've only played it on default settings. (about maybe 2 hours last night) Once I get the new system build, I will crank it up as high as I can and still get smooth game play.

The "recommended" is a GTX 560 with 1GB of memory. While if you have it, I'm sure it would use it. I don't think having 2GB of VRAM is necessary.

I would say system memory is more important. It says a minimum of 2GB, but I bet that would choke it. 4GB is recommended. Today, I use 8GB as a standard.

Just an FYI for those that are thinking about buying it. It doesn't run on Windows XP. You need at least Vista and are probably much better off with Windows 7.

So even at 1680x1050 and max detail I should still get around 33fps with the GTX 460.

btw, you have to install the Nvidia beta drivers, (version 285) otherwise it complains. (the beta did anyhow)

It complains about the latest windows certified (WHQL) ones that came after that ? Wow.

The beta did. I believe DICE was working with Nvidia to tweak the drivers to support the game better. I have the beta drivers installed. The full release hasn't complained about them.

Online back up...Team Deathmatch is very fun on this game!

Played a round of it last night and it is very good.

Maps are big enough to move around in but also small enough to get lots of action.

Team death match is what I mostly play. Good stuff.
I know it sounds stupid but I like how they can spawn anywhere on the map at any time...I got a triple kill after killing two dudes camping! :laugh2:

Spawn anywhere? There is set locations that you can spawn. Now baddies might be there, but it is a set location.

I was playing on a server tonight and the other team was spawn camping. They literally had guys at each spawn site. By the time the game ended (50 kills) it was 50-14.

Except the beginning of the match, it was death within 4 seconds. I wish I could remember the guild name. I have no doubt they will get band some how and DICE will fix that ****. Cheaters blow ***. I still can't figure out why a cheating player feels good after cheating.

Team Deathmatch!? 64 player conquest is Battlefield. Seriously, if you want TDM there are better games for it. BF is all about the conquest.

Also, I think the spawn anywhere comment was probably in reference to people spawning on their squad.

Last night the server had that disabled. You couldn't spawn near your team mates. You could only spawn at random locations. (which while the spot you spawn is random, the possible spawn location are fixed)

What games?

There are several games, but Battlefield is freaking awesome for team death match. I'm not sure why he doesn't like it.

TF2 would be the first one I'd think of to play TDM on over Battlefield. Battlefield is all about huge maps, 32 v 32, and vehicles. TDM is about small group team action. They're just too different to me.

Don't get me wrong, if you like BF3, and you just like playing TDM, I'm not saynig you shouldn't, I'm just saying Conquest 64 player is always going to be the best thing Battlefield has to offer, so for the time I have to play the game, that's the only mode I'll ever play. :D
