I don't think anyone is thinking we would get the OBJ of old. even if we get the OBJ of the playoffs last season is a huge lift. to think he won't provide anything is crazy.

We have no idea what he might provide coming off a serious injury and not having practiced or played since February. We had a great receiver in Amari Cooper and weren’t even targeting him a lot last season. OBJ isn’t familiar with Dak and our offense. It’s going to take time to get him going and we won’t have a lot of time if he’s not ready until December. It’s not like he’s going to show up in Dallas and a few days later he’s playing in a game.

He'd definitely take some of the focus off the others, simply because of what he has done in the past. Unless he shows himself to be absolute trash, the thought of him waking up would be enough, I think.

His reputation will definitely draw some coverage over to him. That’s part of why the Cowboys are interested.

You never know what you're getting from a anybody you bring in, does that mean you don't? Hes not going to make the team worse. So why are you belly aching over them bringing him in. He just may be the reason you win in the playoffs.

Dallas didn't care about the draft pick compensation as much as they cared about getting rid of Coops contract.
Probably true, but keeping that quiet would have yielded a higher pick. I mean, everyone from NFL execs down to 10 year olds that follow football knew we weren't bringing him back after last season. Would we ever have gotten a first? No that's hyperbole on my part but a fifth was a straight up car jacking.

Where am I bellyaching over them bringing him in? I’ve said numerous times the WRs we have aren’t getting it done. I’ve been saying all season I’m not happy with our current group. All I’m saying is the Cowboys aren’t going to invest in a multiyear contract with him, which is what he’s looking for if they don’t feel like he’s going to provide something. I believe OBJ is going to have to settle for prove it deal for this season for the Cowboys to sign him. A deal that would involve incentives, depending on how he performs.

Let’s say the Cowboys sign OBJ. A hamstring or some other injury could pop up as soon as he starts practicing because he hasn’t played in so long. I remember when the Saints signed Dez, who hadn’t played all season and he ended up tearing his Achilles during his first practice. OBJ has had his share of nagging injuries. When a player has missed as much time as he has they’re going to be prone to injuries.

You wouldn't know this team is 6-2 with a top 5 D and a pretty good path to the playoffs with all of this begging for Beckham to be a Cowboy.

Do they all have to talk about everything?

This team needs to shut up and play football.

Nice.

I can appreciate this perspective.

This is how we ended up with a 5th for Amari

26 years of stinking isn’t a great look either. Go for it already.

you clearly dont pay attention. He was a MAJOR cog for the Rams SB last year.
That's because they had Kupp! Plus 2nd AcL. He may not even be the same but even if he is he is not a true #1 and is a complimentary player.

I agree he's not making the team worse. The only question is, how much do we improve? Which is why I am not against bringing him in. That said, I highly doubt they give him a multi year contract. Another team might be willing to do that.

If the Cowboys had upgraded before the trade deadline, this OBJ stuff would be moot. Instead, their big move was the Hankins acquisition…a part time player.

Almost all teams that were perceived superior or equal to the Cowboys roster, upgraded their personnel with full time impact players. Unlike Jerry and some here,I don’t believe they have the best roster and hope to be proven wrong…..just like the last quarter century. Maybe there’s a trend?

That’s because those teams had huge holes to fill. Cowboys don’t. Another receiver is a luxury. Kellen can’t even use the weapons he has let alone adding a bigger name to the mix.

Is this some new idea of yours? This is how Stephen handles all free agent negotiations.
and somehow, we needed 2020 3-1 went 12-5 last year and started this year 6-2 , something's working. no need to constantly jab the jones family i was talking the incessant posts popping up from PLAYERs, they want a high-risk ageing OBJ, let them pay for it..

Maybe they didn't see any up grade at WR (at the deadline) at a price they were willing to pay?
Maybe they're OK with our receiving Corp (especially with us being a run first offense), however, if OBJ is available AND HE COMES AT A BARGAIN, we're interested.
I'd imagine we're not willing to go multi-years.

As for Hankins, run defense (primarily based on the line's inability to stop the inside run nor stopping the o-line getting to the second level), is the BIGGEST weakness (imho)

I think Hankins is going to do more to improve this team than any WR available.
