For pop music, it's MJ. And as vast as said genre stretches, he might be as influential as any band/singer/artist mentioned.

His dance moves and choreography are used from everyone from Timberlake to Bruno Mars. His epic videos in the 80's, made by top Hollywood directors were a first. He wrote his music. Choreographed his music. Danced his music. And performed at 100%.

Thriller and Off the Wall are somewhere on that all-time list, for me. Genre- pop. Bad isn't too far behind, either.

His Dangerous album doesn't always get love but it was a damn good album as well.

Funny you bring this up. I noticed on my Google Play Music charts that this album had appeared in the Top Charts menu (they dropped a remaster of the album I believe). Anyways, that prompted me to listen to it, for the first time in YEARS, and I forgot what an amazing album that was.

Yeah. Just great songs start to finish. And they had a cool sound, great song structure, decent musically, and gave rock a shot in the arm when it needed one badly. They were legit.

He’s someone I hated growing up, and as an adult, for the life of me I can’t figure out why.

And he wrote all the songs, not knowing how to write music. Just sang each part and had somebody write it down. Crazy.

he wrote ******* songs in his tree at Neverland Ranch, just messing around. Will You Be There is one, along with Black or White, I believe he wrote in that tree. Upon Google it was The Giving Tree, he named it. Savant. Undeniably strange and out of our element, but a wizard for music. It's no wonder he and Paul connected so well at first.

I’d add Rush Moving Pictures to the wonderful growing list of all time greats. 2112 is up there too.

Ride the Lightning. Dark Side of the Moon. Appetite. Physical Graffiti. All great choices and belong in the discussion. Add Rumours (Fleetwood Mac), Sticky Fingers (RS), Paranoid (Sabbath) and Back in Black. All great, deep, quality albums.

Bon Scott had the style and charisma, but Brian Johnson was about the best replacement possible, IMO.
Brian Johnson's bread and butter was the best album Bon Scott ever wrote. (Back in Black). Notice AC/DC only had what 3-4 hit songs after Bon died? (He wrote Back in Black)

Brian was th perfect replacement at the time as Back to n Black was without question. A album sent from the gods. He just didnt have the writing talent of Bon Scott and AC/DC rode his coat-tails for close to 40 years after Bon's death.

The only reason Brian is relevant is Back in Black. The problem is. That without question is by far the best AC/DC album as a whole.

I absolutely agree that Johnson fell into an incredible situation, and I think Bon Scott was the much better front man. I've often wondered what that album would've sounded like with Bon doing vocals, and to be honest, I'm not sure it would have been as good for that particular album. The songs on Back in Black are driven by the power of Johnson's voice and while, as I stated earlier, Scott had much more style and charisma, I don't know if that was the better option for this album.

AC/DC gets my vote for best rock and roll band, but not album. Little side note. When my kid was 8-9, we were in a skate store at the register with You shook Me... playing, and I asked my kid in front of the owner who it was. He paused and the owner thought he was trying to guess the band, and my kid said “Brian Johnson!” The dude just looked at me and said “you’re raising him right.” Proud moment.

Kid also used to go into the used music store and argue Neil Peart v. John Bonham with the clerk there he had a crush on. Neil Peart is the correct answer there. Bonham fans can save it because I’m not even hearing it.

Peart vs. Bonzo is strictly a matter of the type of music you prefer.............Bonham wins in my book. But yeah, you raised your kid right! My nephews all know the good music, but my nieces.........ugh........Top 40 crap.
