Who composed/ put together "close to the edge"?,,, & I'm only asking out of 'forum concern' cuz' yer' a MONTROSE fan,,,o_O
Close to the edge is by Yes, not very montrose but a great piece of music.
I think the first montrose album is the greatest pure straight along hard rock album ever juat beating purple "in rock"

Ya can't have 5 so I have conferred with the judges and we are accepting Miles Davis.
Well that's not for you or the anyone else to decide, CoachCouch or whatever.

That's my list and my list only. So accept it or not I don't care. That's my list and that's how it's going to be. Says this judge.

Well, I guess he told you, CC!!! That's what you get for thinking everyone has a sense of humor!

No kidding, and he called me whatever after getting all dyslexic with my moniker. I may have to get Otis to go all ninja and use his cereal box as a litter box.

Methinks we may have crossed paths before on another site in another dimension. I have encountered that here more than once.

Easy mldardy, easy. Someone needs a hug.

I chose two (The Wall and Led Zepplin IV). You have my blessing to confer with the judges and choose one. Or not - you can make a unilateral decision if you want. I think the "judges" are all in your head anyway.

Indeed they are and they all played piano at Ramada Inn's for happy hour for free food and hate bands that made it.

Best LIVE Album of All-Time:
Elvis...as recorded at Madison Square Garden...recorded at the evening concert in June of '72.
the aloha concert in '73 is better "seen"....on dvd......this concert from MSG in '72 is better "heard"...Elvis and the TcB band never sounded better or more insync than they did on this hot summer night in '72.
The headline from the NY Times says it all:
"Like A Prince From Another Planet".

I've been trying to actually join this conversation of topic, but wow, it's incredibly difficult. Taste is so subjective and especially with different generations. I finally decide on one that would be deemed best, in my opinion, and then I second guess myself. haha

I. Just. Can't. Do. It! *shaking and crying uncontrollably in the corner of his computer room*

Very true. Going through it there are a few groups who I can listen to, some I actually like, but none have realeased anything I would call the best album of all time. There are a lot of acts listed in this thread I would rather jab a rusty screwdriver in my ear than ever have to listen to.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, the best live album of all time is the Allman Brothers at Fillmore followed closely by Grand Funk Live and that is followed closely by Frampton Comes Alive.

That Allman Bros is good though.

I’m an unrelenting doosh bag when it comes to The Beatles, folks. I’m sorry, I won’t hijack this awesome thread of CC’s
No dude, please DO hijack the thread as long as you are pushing the Beatle's bloody "White Album". That is the singular most influential contribution to the music world, ever... and it's not even close. Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is also a fine contribution to the music world as is Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti". So what's up with all this Brittish music?

So as for American contributions, the best cover to cover album I can think of is Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" & Guns N' Roses' "Appetite for Destruction". I'd also give a shout out to Boston's self-titled debut album.

As far as American contributors go don't think there are any, I was thinking maybe something like Van Halen's 1st album or something from the Eagles. But the best of all time, that's some pretty rarified air and those are maybe a notch below. Not sure what it is about the Brits though. They just had some supremely talented cats who were very creative and pushed the limits. Supergroups from the UK vs supergroups from the USA is no contest. The Brits win easily.
