No team has ever done what Dallas would do by letting Prescott walk. Closest would be Cousins in Washington, but they were pretty clear about not trying very hard to keep him

Teams rarely keep QB’s that continuously fail in the postseason so early. Romo and Stafford are the only two that come to mind and Detroit traded Stafford.

Some Dallas fans and every NFC East opponent fan want the Cowboys to extend Dak. Some fans because they think his stats can be replicated in the playoffs against the best defenses. Some fans because they want to live vicariously through Dak, and others because they delight in other fans being stuck with a QB they preferred to move on from. Opponent fans just want Dallas trapped in Postseason Purgatory for as long as possible (can’t make huge upgrades via the draft typically and can’t win big postseason games against the best teams).
