Better To Bite The Bullet Than Extend Dak

Hit his ceiling, MVP. Not a bad ceiling. Imagine if we had a running game to complement.
Do you really think he’s playing like an mvp? He had a stretch games where he did, but an mvp doesn’t come up short in all the big moments he has with the only exception being against the eagles the second time

With quarterback salaries expected to reach $60 million, the Cowboys are in no real rush to extend Dak.
He's never won anything, and hasn't proven that he can show up in big games. Instead, he has struggled every time the Cowboys needed him to be the reason they were able to get to the next level.
With a $59 million cap hit coming, the Cowboys will be better off to ride it out and demand that Dak earn his next extension.
He hasn't yet.
You might ought to wait and see what happens this year.

It will be interesting, although I'm sure Dak will settle for 10mil base and 15 per playoff win next year.:)

Yes, I agree. The bottom line. Doesn’t have the run support.

If they do not extend Dak, then be prepared for a few years of misery.

First, they are projected to be over the CAP next year as it is. So they will need to make room somehow just to get under the CAP. Then they have a bunch of free agents they need to sign. They are not all great but they contribute to the defense. If they are not resigned JAGs will have to take their places. In other words, if they do not extend Dak to free up CAP room, be prepared for some losing seasons ahead just because of the talent they will lose and be unable to replace. Then when Dak is gone, it gets worse because they will not have a QB - unless somehow Trey Lance emerges to become something he is not right now. The time to bite the bullet with Dak was his last contract. Jerry never should have agreed to give him $40 million unless Dak was willing to make it for at least 6 years.

Keep in mind the Cowboys traded away their 4th, 5th and 6th round draft picks so re-tooling won't be easy either.

Maybe it makes no difference. If you believe they cannot win with Dak then what's the point of keeping him? Cut his contract and lose without him. But then who do you blame? The Cowboys success drafting players like CeeDee, Diggs, Micah. and even Dak means they have to pay for that success, which is the problem with the NFL salary CAP that penalizes teams that draft well.

The Cowboys are going to extend Dak because they really have no choice. The first time they resigned him they gave away all their leverage then pushed his CAP problem into voided years. At this point, they probably have to re-sign him.

If that were true, that would make you the biggest Dak fan in the world. Seeing the way you act when the Cowboys win/do well.
The Cowboys don't win/do well though.

Oh! You mean in the regular season? My bad.

I forgot Dallas fans got comfortable in the mediocrity long ago. That's why they think a Dak extension is the right move because "How you gonna replace what Dak brings you (nothing)?", right?

This

Give the rest of us a break from these guys who like to have the same argument multiple times a day, every day.
Funny how a few disappeared during our winning streak only to show up on cue as soon as we lost to Buffalo. These aren’t Cowboys fans.

Maybe some fans just want the first overall pick. That is a strategy, right? Cut Dak and start Lance next season. We probably get a top 3 pick. Just hope we do better than the Jets or Arizona with those picks.

Hmm. This response makes me wonder if they exceeded your expectations and won the SB this year... What would your reaction be? happy? sad? indifferent?

I really want to know, so dont disappear like last time you asked me to explain something to you.

You know full well they aren't winning anything.

We all know how this ends. Some of us just don't mind saying it out loud.

I would love for Jerry to give these Dak haters exactly what they want and not resign Dak. I guarantee you after 2-3 years of Trey Lance or whichever other QB, they will be wishing we had Dak back.

Good thing Jerry and Company are not as ignorant. Just hope Dak is willing to give the Cowboys a little discount on his next upcoming extension.
I am old enough to remember the post Aikman era. Henson, Hutchinson, Carter… A cavalcade of clowns. Dak goes and this is a 5 to 7 win team for 3 years. At least. Not Dak’s fault QB salaries are out of control. Look at Arizona. Screwed with that little clown. QB is so hard to fill.

If some of the fans here ran the team we would have the first overall pick practically every year. We wouldn’t have a QB and our best defensive player and WR would be gone. The first overall pick guarantees nothing. Just look at Carolina who would have the first overall pick again had they not traded it away for what has been a bust at QB.

It's a stupid question.

Who know's what one's reaction to something will be?

Especially something that's not going to happen anyways.
How is a stupid question?

You have an imagination (I hope), so let's pretend the Cowboys won the SB... What would your reaction be?

I find it weird that a self proclaimed "Cowboys fan>Dak fan" wont answer that question. Unless you arent?
