are we talking about the same .500 coach.... lets see he took us to the playoffs with a trash team according to you and we had the #1 defense(now you may not agree with the ratings but that is what the NFL uses so that is all we have to go by) that year or close to it... we could have than signed Berry to bolster the d-line and a DB or 2... but we decided to do nothing and everybody and I mean everybody thought we should have bolstered the defense in the off season except Bill but we do sign some of BP's old players like young, murrell, ward, testy, glenn for the offense etc... so we go 6-10 and Bill says behold this defense suxs (well no duh Bill we all knew it needed help in the offseason) so we than spend the next 2 years rebuilding a defense that had needed just tweaking. now do you know of another team/coach who wanted a 3-4 defense and waited till his 3rd year to implement it...nope me either...but is this the same .500 coach we are talking about... sorry dooms and punk its time for me to get some shuteye you will have to continue to try and belittle me on your own.

I'm not trying to belittle you I just do not agree with your assessment that any old coach could have come in and gotten this franchise back to respectability.

As an official, long time Bill Parcells hater and basher, I love this. :D

I don't know if all of our moves will turn out or not, if Romo will perform like a probowler or not, if our OL will be better or not, if our WRs will stay healthy or not, yadda yadda yadda, but I do believe our team will play much more aggressively and will be much more fun to watch than under Parcells.

Are those defending Parcells the same posters that are disappointed with Canty and Spears?

These 2 were his groceries...

How about JJ?

I am still torn on whether I like where Parcells left us... personel wise and 3-4 but we really aren't sure yet.

Canty, Spears and JJ were all bought by Parcells but have continued to disappoint us.

So saying Parcells left us for the better is still unclear.

Bill is a good coach....but I failed to see how a fan could be happy with the job he did.

He had all the resources...cap money...full control....he left with a record closer to .500....one game over.....for all the money given to a HOF coach in a watered down league....I expected more...

Bill came here and stated "get your expectations high".......he left stating "expectation were too high"

go figure...

Im glad he was here....but Im happy he is gone.

This team is heading in the right direction...but...it also had no where to go but up.

You may be right. The question, at least for me, is one of now and then. We may play a more exciting style of football under Phillips but would the talent and infrustructure be here to allow for this more exciting style of play had it not been for Parcells?

To me, that's Parcells' legacy.

I agree and I hope Jones can maintain the same relationship with Phillips and allow Wade to do the job and not have players going over his head and running to Jerry which was taking place all too often before BP came on board.

that was VP parcells not coach parcells there is a differance

And this proves what? I would rather have a "coach" that has the knowledge of a VP rather than another "your kind of coach" that does nothing but take what Jerry Jones puts in front of him.

Parcells has many faults in my eyes too. I abslutely hated his game day plans! I knew exactely what was going to happen. However, we finally had winning seasons for the first time IN A LONG TIME.

Sometimes it takes some "tough love" to make players get better.

I remember a post from the Campo days from someone that said if Campo ever got mad at Ellis, that Ellis would just reach down and scratch Campo behind the ears...and go about his business. That's the coach you want to instill a little damn disipline in your players?

Not me...

Yep. That was such a huge credability issue with our previous coaches, it's unreal. That alone is reason enough for any coach to use as excuse for failure. What's more, it's a completely valid reason. Just about the worst policy you can have IMO. Can't allow players to go around the coaching staff. Just can't allow that to happen IMO

Parecells wasn't even a good disciplinary coach while here.

We were one of the most penalized teams in the NFL.

People have to stop talking about the Parcells of the 80s and early 90s and realize he isn't half what he was back then.

I think some of the Parcells' bashing is unjustified it's apparent that we wasn't as good a coach here as he had been elsewhere. His stubborness took a big toll on this club.

Did you have an alternative? Was there a coach you wanted besides Parcells?

So...Parcells taught the players, THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES, to try and be the "most penalized team in the NFL"?

Sorry...but your post is really dumb...

At the time I thought Parcells would be our savior like everyone else.

So no.

I am just spitting out random stuff at this point, sorry.

I am simply trying to find out what the Parcell guys around here really saw in him.

At a time I thought we are better off becuase of him but re-thinking it I'm not sure.

He picked us up guys like Canty, Spears and JJ to name a few.

These 3 players have all been under the microscope, specifically on this board.

So, his groceries left us in better shape? Very unclear.

I understand he hit on a few, Newman and Ware to name.

But to stir the pot some, what if the Jets passed on Robertson and we had to choose from Newman or him, does Parcells still go with Newman?

Ware... He could have took Merriman instead and statistically at this point Merriman looks better on paper (not debating about this, I for one am in love with Ware).

Did he do anything to help the coaching staff?

He HELD BACK Payton and the evidence is clear... he moved on to be the coach of the year for a NO Saints team.

How about Zimmer? The same could be the same this year.

So, once again, how are we in better shape BECAUSE of the great Tuna?

Forget it...if you cannot figure that out on your own, then this is nothing but a waste of time!

Carry on...

Thanks for the explanation

How about this...

Why does our offensive line NEEDto be fixed as soon as Parcells left VR.

Why is Steven Jackson a Ram?

More garbage and hyperbole. It is possible to make a point without talking out your posterior.

So am I.

I just had to chime on your posts. I have read several on this recent topic, and all I get from reading your posts is you think your opinion is all that matters. That is it, that is all I got out of them.

You know some people on here make some pretty good points that you just ignore and discount because only you can be right. Kinda sad.
