I'd take McNabb in a heartbeat.

I guess I'm as guilty of anyone of getting worked up sometime.
To answer your question, I honestly feel that Bledsoe is better. Not from a sheer numbers standpoint, but because of the intangible stuff I mentioned. I feel that this team has the pieces in place to win a championship and I feel McNabb is a guy who'll never win the big game.
I can't say that Bledsoe will but I feel even more confident that McNabb won't.
He's one of those Marino, Manning, Culpepper types. They put up great regular season "numbers", but come up small when it really counts.
Not saying it's the right way to see things, just that it's the way I see it.
iceberg said:all that said - i did it cause i wouldn't want *either* as my qb. gimme eli manning, carson palmer - gimme a "young gun" who still thinks they can't get hurt in life. (ok, ben may not fit this anymore) but i'm into the cowboys for the "long haul" and have been rewarded quite a bit in history simply because that's how the cowboys have *almost* always built up their team.
find a franchise qb, pay the man, build and go.
it's when we dink around with the pelluers, hogebooms, sweeney's of yesterday and hutch, carter, romo and hensons today - that we get mired in a quagmire none of us like for our own reasons and points of view.
but i can't ever recall at any point in the cowboys history (only been actively watching since 1976) where we brought in an aged vet to make a quick push and built around that.
hence my overall frustration isn't with bledsoe as a player, but a direction the team is taking. a "load up the shotgun, lets see what we hit" approach. i hate it and i don't even think we're doing it right because we have too many question marks on the line for our qb of choice.

I like Bledsoe as a person. I loved him when he was younger. When he was younger, I'm pretty sure I would have probably taken him over McNabb now. Unfortunatly, time catches up to all of us. I do believe that McNabb is as dangerous a QB as there is in the league when he breaks containment. When he can do this, it puts the maximum amount of pressure on a defense and he is exceptional at breaking big plays. I don't view McNabb as a great leader but I also have questions about Bledsoe and his ability to move past his physical limitations. Bledsoe has problems getting out of the way of a good pass rush. McNabb is a huge plus where this is concerned. I don't love McNabbs arm. I don't think it's elite but I do believe it's adequate. Same with his accuracy. However, he doesn't throw many INTs His TO to TD ratio is much better then Bledsoe's. His numbers, across the board are probably superior to Bledsoe's, at this point in each players career. To me, keeping your team in positive position is key to QB play. Things like avoiding Fumbles and Ints, negative plays such as sacks and being able to turn bad plays into positive plays are huge. You not only help your offense but you help your defense with field position. Just as important IMO. I just see McNabb as a player who does this very well. I don't like him but I respect his ability.
That is how I see this.

Whouda thunk it..........
I see your points and when it comes down to it, I guess it depends on a personal preference.
I thought Bledsoe did a great job for the Cowboys last year. Especially as a first year starter in Dallas and then having the offensive line issues. I think he's part of the solution and not the problem and I look forward to seeing what he can do with an even better supporting cast.
And I've always had a preference for pocket passers over scramblers as well.

How about another dog pissing on skins helmet smilie for me, homer. Seems to be your only contribution to this board, ever.

No hard feeling on my part. Just another day on the board.![]()

I've "dialogued" with the poster you're talking about, and he is fully capable of using intelligent football saavy. But he can be very quick to protect his fandom at the expense of an opponent fan. He's turning out to be something that I really didn't expect and I'll probably re-evaluate my opinion of him.
But the good news is that the majority here do not get involved with the likes of his style of communication.
Personally, I'd like to have just a few "harmless" icons that counter that type of expression. Of course it would be generic to a franchise; therefore anyone can use.
Perhaps it's not the panacea even if the icons were used in defense. You may have to come to the realization that we are vulnerable to those type of expressions on an opponents home board ...but admittedly, I've seen much much worse.

There, there ...it's going to be ok.![]()
Hey, I HAVE to communicate that way when it comes to a RedStink...because if I typed what I really feel like saying, they would not just ban me from this board, they would probably call Al Gore and have me banned from the whole internet!
Actually, I Know what you mean ...I feel like letting loose with some things also, but it wouldn't be fair to the other sensible posters.
That's why me and my dog, Gibbs, dispise them!!
Sometimes the dog does bite the hand that feeds them!![]()

A large part of being a great QB is avoiding the sack, wether you can run fast or just evade well. McNabb can do both of those while bledsoe can do neither. Sure he's got a great arm and is very intelligent, and is the best thing we've had since aikman, but you've got to realize that a healthy mcnabb would both pass and run all over a healthy bledsoe any day of the week. I hate to say it like that but tis true.

stasheroo said:What about the fact that McNabb has choked in every big game he's ever played?
That counts big for me and some others.
It's great to have regular season numbers and the mobility factor is nice, but what good is it when you blow it in the big game all the time?

dallasblue05 said:You do have a point but if we are talking overall talent and skill, McNabb is the guy. Not to mention its a team game and the SB is really the only game I've seen McNabb play where HE chocked. Those 3 NFCC games, you cant put them all on him........
as for the homer comment, maybe it was a little blunt for what I meant, but the message behind the message is that McNabb is clearly the better pick between the 2, but again its my opinion and thats why we are here, to share our opinions.
stasheroo said:Maybe the message should be that McNabb would be your choice.
"Clearly the better pick" is far from accurate.
