you really think burress is a threat to society or you hate him because he played for the giants?

The guy screwed up, he has a bullet hole in his leg to prove it.

Don't send him to prison when he could do a hell of a lot more good out here.

literally he is going to do more time than vick did, you really think that is justice?

He broke the law and he has to pay the price for it, the justice system is in place to determine if he is a threat to society or not, Mike Vick broke the law and he is serving his time.

all I am saying is it is counter productive to society as a whole to put a guy like that in prison for 3.5 years.

he broke the law, I won't deny that, but him rotting in a jail cell doesn't help anyone, he isn't out there hurting people, he shot himself in the leg.

use him as a vehicle of change, that guy can impact youngsters.

force him to, don't lock him up and do no one any good at all.

I think the mandatory sentence is stupid, in almost all cases. It takes away the ability we as humans have to use reason and common sense in our sentencing of our fellow humans. I understand the reason for the law, but in this case at least, the punishment does not fit the crime. He shot himself in the leg. Many people will serve less time for worse. Mandatory sentencing is ********. Let's start chopping people's hands off for stealing bread, why don't we?

Why should Plax get special treatment?

it's really not special treatment, apparently none of you have been in trouble before.

I regrettably have, if you can pay the lawyers then you can get special treatment. It's not a celebrity thing, it's a dollars thing.

He could do a hell of a lot more good out here than he could in a jail cell, because of his celebrity.

big picture, not myopic

Shooting him self is not what it's about it's about carrying an unlicensed gun in public which is against the law.

What if it goes off in another direction and hits someone else? if you're dumb enough to accidentally shot your self with it i don't have much faith in your ability to not accidentally shoot others with it

I was waiting for that justification, surprised it took this long to come out.

I am going to go drive my car around the block, it will be a miracle if I don't run someone over.

way to contradict your self there, you're basically saying he shouldn't be punished for his crime like regular people cause of his celebrity?!

Must be nice if laws don't apply to you...

Good point, but it will get lost because people want to make excuses for the guy. A lot of laws are ridiculous, but they are laws. If you don't like them, lobby to change them because breaking them results in doing time.

Should it be ok to drink and drive too as long as you don't hit anyone?

umm no, he should be punished in a matter constructive to society.

it only costs us money for him to rot in jail

if he can change one kid's life for the better it is far more valuable

laws aren't changed by people, they are changed by politicians, it's a pipe dream to say that we matter as an individual. We don't.

Guys like burress matter to kids because of his celebrity, we can use that to make positive changes, or we can get caught up in politics and rhetoric and send him away for 3.5 years.

I don't honestly understand the other side of this argument, makes no sense to me.
