I see her point. He's never done commentary before and he gets the prime spot. And he replaces Simms who has been doing it for a long time.

The problem is that Simms got the #1 spot pretty quickly in his announcing career and he has been very stale for years (I don't hate him as a commentator, but he's not exactly thrilling to listen to).

And I usually find with these ex-players and ex-coach types you need to get them right away because they still look at the game from a player/coach standpoint and aren't afraid to go into detail about what was going on with a play and throw some real football jargon and real football analysis around in their first few years in commentary. But, once those honeymoon years go by, they became a generic version of commentary and start to play the generic announcing game (ala Troy and Collinsworth).

Bonnie Bernstein is actually one of the coolest people you'll ever meet, so I don't think she's doing it to be mean. But, the fact is that this has been going on since the 70's (Cosell hated Meredith because he was a player and not a 'real' announcer) and I would imagine that Bonnie had to know this even before she got into the industry.

YR

Didn't Simms get that job with zero experience and talent if I may say so?

She should not be working for Simms job. That part of the team was probably always going to be a Famous Ex NFL Player.

She needs to shoot for the Buck job, the Nantz job...the guy or in this case lady, who gets paired up with the ex nfl player.
I don't think it's about her shooting for jobs or losing opportunities.

I read this about respecting the grind of learning the craft and protecting the business. CBS is basically saying anyone can walk off the street and do the #1's job with no experience. That's disrespectful as far as I am concerned in anyone's line of work.

I know you are being rhetorical but hot jewish chick who was a gymnast at Maryland, worked as sideline girl for ESPN and CBS, pretty hot, now getting older and no longer really in business

apparently never married no children, never heard of any long time lover either
Sounds like someone has a crush:) Now if this was Melissa Stark it would make so much more sense.

I wasn't being literal. I'm just saying she works in the field and probably knows a lot of people working towards those very few high-profile jobs.

There are Ex-NFLers working other jobs that would have loved a shot at the job, but Romo is getting it because of who he knows - whether in fact he's good at it or not.

chances of CBS or Fox or whomever giving the top play by play gig to a woman is less than the chance I have of getting it on with Kate Beckinsale and since my chances are nil,,,

So did Emmitt Smith and Joe Montana at one time.

Neither of them panned out...Maybe Romo does not either.

Oh, sweet Bonnie. Did she expect to get that position or something?

The fact that I have diligently followed sports for 25 years and I had to google her name tells you everything you need to know.

She should just be happy she has a job.

Seriously? She was one of the cutest sideline reporters back in the day. I always paid close attention when she was on the screen.
