Brady Quinn

I hae said for the whole year that the biggest strike against Smith will be when he is measured at the Combine and comes in under 6 feet tall. Everything else about the kid is what you look for in a QB. That could scare some teams off.

If history tells us anything this is absolutley right. It isn't a knock on the kid just some reality on what has happened to QB's historically in the NFL that are "undersized".

Flutie had a pertty long career and Smith is probably taller then he is.

Most of Flutie's career was in Canada and what career he had in the NFL was mostly as a backup.

Not saying it will be the same for Smith. That's the point. Just because Flutie did doesn't mean anyone else will. Doesn't mean Smith won't be better than Flutie was either.

he might play QB but i hardly see him being any better than vick. i mean he's a great talent but he is playing in college ya know
Smith could play in the NFL for 10 years and never see as many wide open receivers as he sees in one game for Ohio State. I hate anything Notre Dame but put Quinn on Ohio State and he's the #1 pick and nobody would even be discussing it.

Not to discount Smith because he is a leader, and a great college player, but I also believe that Quinn could lead this Ohio State team to exactly where they are right now. For all the ND media hype they are not a very tallented team in relation to Ohio State, Mich, Florida.. They have NO speed and really only a couple guys that can make plays. Again, Smith is a great college player, but Quinn at Ohio State would be an offensive machine as well!

There you go again Jimmy, making sense. You're not supposed to do that.

It's early Hos, I got all day to revert to being my normal idiot self.:D

Brees is a little on the short side (listed at 6 even but most say thats a little exxageration) and he does OK.

Jamarcus russel has reportedly hired an agent and I wouldnt be suprised to see him taken as the first qb in the draft

Well now you went and hurt my feelwings...it was really important that...even if it was just a wee little bit....I meant something to you...and now...my dreams are dashed.:(

This will be so hard to get over.

Well look at it this way. At least you've kicked that little bed wetting problem.

Good God..I haven't read the whole thread and I'm not going too.

You said at one point that if Smith had a bad combine he would NOT be drafted as a QB.

I said BS! And gave you reasons why.

Then you back tracked and said...

No, I'm saying that if Smith does not have a good combine, he may not get drafted as a QB. It's not a guarantee.

My point with you is YOU said if he has a bad combine he will in Fact NOT be drafted as a QB.

I think you're WRONG!

I asked you to put it on the line...Period. And make a call..yes or no...Is he going to be drafted as a QB?

I say Regardless of his Combine workout...He's drafted as a QB.

Now you're saying that if he doesn't have a good workout that he may not even be drafted at all forget about QB?

And this is what happens when you read half the thread. I said that in context to Palko and Stanton. Then I said, and if Smith had a bad combine, he wouldn't get drafted either. Basically saying that any QB who is not graded out as a top tier talent can not afford to have a bad combine and still be sure they are getting drafted. That's a true statement. Maybe not in your world but that's not my problem. Smith needs to have a good combine to possibly go in the second round IMO. That will not be too late. That is where he will grade out IMO, if he does well the rest of the way. Can't dumb this down any more then that. Not even for you.

Can I dumb it down for you again?

There's difference between not being drafted and not being drafted as a QB.

Which is what I've been debating with you. Whether he will be drafted as a QB or at some other position...That's it...that's all. Not where or when or even if he'll get drafted.

I really could care less once Smith leaves Ohio St where he gets drafted or even if he gets drafted.

Traditionally, and not in every case, this hasn't been the case with a "short" QB.

Spoken like a fan of Ohio State University that deserves to be called "Mr. Buckeye".

Your debating with your self. I've said what I have to say. I'm on record. Lets just let the chips fall where they may and see what happens.

Whether I care or not where Smith gets drafted has nothing to do with being a Buckeye fan.

I'm just sure all Buckeye fans are losing sleep over where Smith is going to get drafted.

Now what he does in the National Championship Game...that I do care about.:D

GO BUCKS!

I'm sure your right. You can file this along with the early statement I made. Whatever you want to believe is OK with me.

We could have ended this a long time ago...If you would have said that!
