This actually doesn't surprise me. At least Moore has more upside than Colt, and the only other QB out there that I would want is Fitzpatrick and that isn't happening.

I do hope the plan is to get a QB in round 1 however!
While I personally would not mind McCoy coming here as a backup I would not mind if we drafted someone in that capacity as well. As far as Moore is concerned I leave that up to the powers that be to determine his worth on this team.

Kellen Moore as starting QB whenever Romo goes down = slow death. Maybe he is better than Weeden or Cassell, but not by much IMO. Does seem to hint Boys will draft a QB, but knowing them, they probably think throwing a third round pick at it will solve everything

Better than a 2nd?

How about a 4th instead.

DAL can draft for the future and sign a one year stop gap for QB2.

By next year Goff/Wentz will be the back-up but if they pick it up quick enough we can trade our back-up at the trade deadline this year.
You're playing Madden dude.

One does not simply just trade a QB in November like it's as easy as waving a magic wand.

I respectfully disagree. If Wentz can fix our pass rush, give us a quality cover corner, force more turnovers, or add speed at receiver; then he'd be a no-brainer pick.

I'm worried about Romo's health, too, but this team proved in 2015 it can't win with a backup QB. I find it hard to believe a rookie quarterback that played on the FCS level could come in and simply replace Romo this year (assuming he'd even have to). With two of the top 34 picks in this draft I think the Cowboys should get a couple impact defensive players. Just my opinion.

I promise you that no matter who we draft at 4 and 34, they will not be the single reason we make the playoffs or win the Super Bowl next season.

However, if we draft a QB at 4, they could very well be the single reason we make the playoffs or win the Super Bowl for seasons 2018-2032.

What are on about now? I don't play Madden and I suggest you update your material.

Of course teams can trade QBs at the deadline. It happens all the time. Like how we got Cassell.
If DAL drafts Goff and he picks up the offense very quickly they could be comfortable enough to trade a Colt McCoy/Nick Foles to a team desperate for a healthy QB.

Not that complicated.

From what I've heard, Jalen Ramsey is a rare, special talent. And Marcus Peters last year proved rookie corners can be interception machines; and guys like Darrelle Revis and Patrick Peterson were difference makers right away too.

The Cowboys got it all wrong in 2012 with Mo Claiborne; but they shouldn't let that scare them if Ramsey is somehow still there at #4.

Still on board for Ramsey myself.

I get the argument for an instant impact player. I just think unless you plan on being back picking in the top 5 in the next couple years then you get one when you can. Yes it's expensive, but it's money not draft picks and we have plenty of money and say you go 8-8 the year you have no choice but get a QB and maybe have to start him, what's that gonna cost in the way of draft picks. You can manipulate the money side of the nfl but the draft is what it is
That's my thinking anyways though I get the other side of the argument

Well Jerry has said they want a impact player insinuating 2016.
he also said tony is the qb of next few years.
Then rumor kellen moore will be the # 2

So why pay # 4 $ now for a QB that will have no impact anytime soon.
The upside is later on they may not have a high pick and have to trade up,
but there may be better QB available,
Then again they maybe should get wentz or whoever now.

It is a tough decision .

Don't overpay for Colt McCoy or Chase Daniel.

This is a game of chicken.

They'll sign somebody.

Colt McCoy and Chase Daniel???....if the organization has that direction....then winning ain't everything.

Wentz or Goff will be there at #4. Whichever we draft, he will likely take most of the QB snaps this year. There are no long term solutions at starting QB available via FA, so we have no option but to draft in the first round.

The chances of Romo being able to play a full season AND show no signs of decline are extremely remote. Anyone talking of making a run at the SB to get Romo a ring must be on Jerrahs cool aid. It aint happening.

Given Romos health, Moore may well be kitted up as the #2 in most games. Personally I'd like to see a couple more QBs in camp to fight for the #2/3 spot behind the first rounder.

I think the problem wasn't just backup QBs couldn't score. I think the biggest problem was coaches inability to call plays that put us in positions to win games. It was like they settled for 3 and outs.

In fine with Moore as backup to Romo, but they need to let Romo call the plays if he goes down again

There are a bunch of zoners here that are setting themselves up for massive disappointment on day 1 of
draft. Broaddus and Spags from DC.com have been saying for some time now that the odds of
Dallas picking a QB at #4 is almost nil. They get to spend quality time with Jerry, Stephen and Will
McClay and they know who they are discussing in the halls of Valley Ranch. Broaddus doesn't even
like Wentz and Goff that much. He has them rated down the line from Paxton Lynch his favorite QB
in this draft. Everyone will be yelling, screaming and cussing on draft day when Dallas goes defense
but the statistical odds and needs of the team favor those picks this year. As Jerry said, every decision
will be made with the idea that Romo is the QB now and for the next 3-5 years and the expectation of
getting to the playoffs.

Yeah there will be some qbs available in the second and third day of the draft. If they go Wentz or Geoff for pick 4 might as well move Romo soon. No need to spend a high quality pick for someone to sit in the bench for 2-3 years. If we are serious about keeping Romo then starting with day two is when a qb should be selected.
