The entire passing attack is down. Every single WR is showing lower numbers. We focus on Dez because he's The Paid Guy, but the passing game is anemic. Unless literally every WR regressed, sounds to me that it has to do with the coaching and/or QB.

The passing game is down because nobody is respecting our running game. They force the qb to beat us. And he is not able to.

We didnt win because romo was never a qb like rodgers Favre or montana who has the ability to shoulder a team without help. Romo needed always talent around him to prosper. If he was missing it he was the type of player who tried too much and made alot if mistakes because he hadnt had the talent.

Tony Romo made Laurent Robinson and Miles Austin millionaires. I can't think of a single WR that played with Romo, only to go on and have a better career elsewhere, except Martellus Bennett.

Just because the man says something doesn't make it so. It doesn't matter if he says it until the cows come home, facts are still facts, Romo was not an elite QB. That may give Romo worshipers heartburn but they can take a Rolaids and get over it.

Many thought he was an elite QB including Aikman and Staubach. I'll take their word over yours.

What concerns me is how often we still run against tight fronts. Like, I'll see a two deep man set, but with the LBers obviously playing run, and instead of checking to an intermediate play, we just run it.

What stinks for me is this. The guys who love Romo so much, hate Dak. They don't care about his development, they don't care if he's in his second year, they only care that Romo is gone. I say to those fans, go root for CBS and get out. Give the guy 3 full years, if he fails, we draft a QB. Simple as that.
His best year he had 4900 yards, 28 TDs and 19 INTs and worst of all, he went 8-8. That's not elite. Dez has been in the league forever now. His best years were 2012-2013-2014. That was year 9 for Romo when he had those 3 years with Dez. But Romo fans are too dense to realize that. They are comparing a 9 year vet at the time to a two year guy.

The bottom line for me is, Dez has never been elite. He had 3 good years, and 1 good year in college. THAT'S IT.

So now, I believe that injuries have slowed Dez down which is a problem because he's never been a good route runner. He's a dominant jump ball receiver, and now he's not even that. T-Will is an inconsistent catcher. He's a decent route runner, but he can't catch the ball consistently. Cole Beasley can catch, but his route tree is horrible, and can't really get down field. He's just not fast (also he's weak, he gets pushed around). Witten is just slow. He's a great route runner, amazing catcher, but he's too slow to make an impact.

So what do we have here? We have 4 receivers who have major problems. So for me, you need an overhaul of a receiving core.

I withdraw from this debate on the grounds that my opposer is making things up. All of those QB had talent around them.

Another thing about Romo was, he was brittle. He only played 16 games 5 out of the 14 years in his career. Availability is the best ability. Hit the weight room, then maybe he could've been great.

SHOW ME. Every single week we get clips from the beat writers on twitter showing Dez being doubled covered with Beasley running the only route in his route tree in single coverage. You say otherwise, cool, show me.
Do you have the coaches film?

By my count, Dez is in his 8th year, and in only four of those years did he break the 1000 yard barrier (a stat most associate with above average).

Those four came with an in-his-prime Tony Romo, who himself, had trouble syncing with Dez early on. One of those years was also a contract year.

Now, mix in a 2nd-year Dak ( and a possible sophomore slump?), and Dez is still not elite (read: Top 5).

Yes, injuries have been a factor with Dez, but sometimes it feels like the earth, moon, Mars and other heavenly bodies have to align for his to be at his optimum.

As I have before, I maintain that Dez is a great #2, but, IMO, not worth his current cap space. If we could somehow get a stud #1 and have Dez lower his cap (no way does his ego accept), he'd be a much better weapon as a #2 or #1B.

And for Dak, I think he needs a younger WR to develop with him. I believe that the best formula is an older, established QB to groom a younger WR, instead of the other way around. Basically, the QB needs to be the big dog, so he can "override" the Diva WR when necessary.

Just watching from the sideline, but in regards to Owens, he came here at a late age. I mean the dude was still a freak of nature, but his prime was a tad before he arrived here at 33 years old.
