so athletes should just stay home all the time? never go out to clubs, movies, restaurants, stores?

that is bogus....when are the fans and non athletes gonna learn that these guys are just regular people, not freakin GODS.....they are just like us, except in better shape and richer.....we need to stop putting our athletes on a freakin pedestal just cause they are athletes....athletes are normal people and should be allowed to live normal lives....

Here in San Antonio the Spurs players are out and about all the time.....nobody bothers them...we give George Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, etc...the respect they deserve as regular people....when they are out and about, they get hellos and such, but rarely do they get hounded for autographs, pictures, etc....At the games they are fare game for signings and pictures...but away from the arena they are just like all of us...so we leave them alone....and that is how it should be

This is why I dont ever want to be famous. I dont want to be under the microscope 24/7, nor do I want to have to live in a shell....I want to be able to come and go as I please and not worry about being mugged or assaulted wherever I go, just because I am rich and famous.

hearing this news has really bummed me out......i kinda liked williams as a player....he was so small, yet made a big impact on games.

That's not what I was talking about and you know it. People don't get their hummer's shot up with automatic weapons because go to clubs.

I would be shocked if somewhere down the line drugs were not involved.

Now that's an ignorant statement to make.

Right now there is no information about why this tragedy happened, but please do go on and assume that something illicit had to be the cause.

Why not wait until more info comes out before saying something like he just had to be doing something wrong for this to happen. No one knows anything one way or the other.

well they do if it was a disgruntled diehard fan who was super angry cause the broncos lost....maybe the fan lost a bunch of money on the game...saw williams out and decided he would get vendication for his gambling loss.

People have to assume. For some stupid reason.
Your response was excellent.

It was obviously no random act of violence, that much seems clear. There's nothing ignorant about suggesting that a young athlete with all this fame and fortune in front of him was involved in some type of shady activity that ultimately led to this. Weapons dealing, drugs, women, etc. that led to somebody developing a grudge against him.

And before you even think of going there, no, it's not because the kid was black

That's a possibility, but it would take an extremely unstable person to do that, and considerign Williams was hardly the reason they lost, I don't see him as being the target of such an attack anyway.

You and I both know there is a high probably of this beign some sort of a hit because of shady things that Williams was involved in. You just choose to be politically correct and shy away from it, I don't.

Again, horrible tragedy and the dooshbags who did it deserve to fry, but it jsut makes you wonder how many times this has to happen before stars start realizing to stay a little more low key.

I'm thinking this was probably something more mundane-an incident at a club, or an altercation over a woman, something like that. For all we know it could have been a case of mistaken identity (I'd be willing to bet that there was more than one white Hummer limo on the streets in Denver on New Year's Eve).

There were other people in the limo with him. Two of which were also injured. Who's to say one of them were not a target? You just don't know. So why assume anything? It's a sad deal, so I'd rather not speculate on why he caused his own death until more info comes out. The guy has a history of being a good guy, so putting a label on him that he had to be involved in something illicit is just crazy. Because for all intents and purposes, the guy was just out celebrating the new year like millions of other people.

I didn't think you said it because he's black. I just think you made an ignorant comment that overcomes any racial barriers.

It very well could be something as simple as a fight he started in a club or an arguement over a woman, but again, there are people in this world carzy enough to kill over such things.

But I doubt you fill ahummer with round after round from an automatic weaspon unless you know damn well who you are shooting at.

maybe it was an ex-lover........she saw him with this new gal and went crazy....women do get crazy when they see their former man with someone else, especially if he was rich and famous.....

I am gonna cancel the crazy fan idea and go with the crazy ex girlfriend idea.....

The arguement still stands. Why hang around with people involved in things like that? It's only asking for trouble. It may be he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but a grown man should know better than to associate with individuals who will severely compromise their safety and well-being.

Again, even if he was invovled in such things, he didnt deserve to die and didnt cause his own death by means. Being involved in drugs or anything of the sort is still no excuse to murder someone in cold blood.

Please just quit talking you make yourself look more and more ignorant. you have no reason to assume anything yet you are. What is your basis for presenting your argument? You have none. What are you facts? You have none. I hope you are givin a temprary break.

i just heard about this and this is truly sad. My heart and prayers go out to his family and close friends. From what ive heard growing he hanged with wrong crowd but changed his life around and was actually talking to kids to avoid being in gangs and stuff like that. Sad to see good people go... May the killers of Williams GO TO HELL!!! R.I.P Darrent Williams

My basis is that, as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, numerous athletes every year are killed or try to be killed because of such things. The ignorant are those who ignore that. It's a perfectly reasonable thesis, and you know it.
