Brown's release Austin Davis

Does it really matter? There aren't enough high quality QB's to stock 32 teams and we're talking about players that can't even get the backup gig.

I still think one of the KC QBs that will be cut or Geno Smith/ Bryce Petty who I think gets cut are also options.

plezz say no to both

Geno game
Percentage:
57.9

TD–Int:
27–35

I don't think anyone is saying Showers should not make it back to the practice squad. We are however a professional football team and as such, we can leave our season up to two players that have never played in NFL regular season game. Dak in a short time has shown that he is better than Showers and is the best option moving forward. Outside of that, we need to get the best available player in case something happens to Dak or he struggles like most rookies do. There are not going to be a lot of options and really for the ones that will be available Dak is by far the best choice to lead us at the early part of the season. If he does okay then he'll keep the job. If he struggles we need to have a viable option available to us.
Clearly

Did you watch the games. The only real reason Dak has outperformed Showers is that Dak
has run with the 1's and has a protective shield with the OL. Showers has had to run for
his life with the 2's and 3's. I wouldn't call that a fair competition or fight for that matter.

Browns waived/released QB Austin Davis, TE E.J. Bibbs, and K Travis Coons.

Davis was an expected cut, but it is a reminder the team ridiculously gave him a three-year contract with a $500,000 signing bonus and $600,000 guaranteed last September. Barely more than a camp arm, he might not find a new home right away. With Coons cut, Patrick Murray has won the kicking competition.

I know Reality and many others want him...I bet he is on the team by tomorrow.
Viva Las Vegas !!!

Showers. Even if they sign Austin Davis, there's no way he will be ready to play in the final preseason game. This is why you always bring a fourth quarterback to training camp even if you know he won't make the team.
Great point !!!! Last year Dallas also had 2 QB's on the practice team for most of the year !!!

You gotta rush him out there...ready or not in that last pre-season game. I can't imagine letting him cut his teeth when the games are for real...

Austin's played in real NFL games. Sending him out there with the 3rd and lower string players is pointless, especially with him (or whoever we sign) not having any time with the playbook.

I am guessing that every backup QB in the league right now is dreaming of getting cut and picked up by the Cowboys or getting traded to the Cowboys.

The Cowboys will have some options from Austin, to Geno Smith and maybe Bryce Petty, to Sanchez, and some others.

Personally, I would roll with Dak and Showers. I would also put two athletic, scrambling type QBs on the practice squad if I could find them.

In hindsight, it would have been nice to have picked up Boykin. Did Seattle draft him or was he undrafted?

I've seen much worse. And just recently. They wasted two years on Dustin Vaughan.
Well..

Even given a willing Prescott I have my doubts about whether the staff can make it work.

Romo freelance so much with his audibles and play creation..

whether or not Prescott is allowed to do the same or is going to be restricted while they try to direct him is going to be huge.

My opinion is for now..since so little is known..

we are going to have to all learn at the same time what he is.

The book on him in college was he was a running QB.

Are we really prepared as a coaching staff to utilize the change in offense required.

I think not.

So I think it's going to be a rough ride this year.

Davis is the one I was hopin would get released as well.....hope we grab him, sorry Showers....

Dak has played with the 2s as well this preseason and did fine. It couldn't be more obvious that he's the better QB of the two.

I'd rather have Austin Davis than Sanchize, idk if he's better but he's a gunslinger and not check down Charlie.

Tom Brady has requested a trade to Dallas. :D
