Does it really matter? There aren't enough high quality QB's to stock 32 teams and we're talking about players that can't even get the backup gig.
If the money is right... ill do it.Yeah, but who is playing QB for us in that last preseason game?
I still think one of the KC QBs that will be cut or Geno Smith/ Bryce Petty who I think gets cut are also options.
The same organization with Josh Gordon? I think so.
ClearlyI don't think anyone is saying Showers should not make it back to the practice squad. We are however a professional football team and as such, we can leave our season up to two players that have never played in NFL regular season game. Dak in a short time has shown that he is better than Showers and is the best option moving forward. Outside of that, we need to get the best available player in case something happens to Dak or he struggles like most rookies do. There are not going to be a lot of options and really for the ones that will be available Dak is by far the best choice to lead us at the early part of the season. If he does okay then he'll keep the job. If he struggles we need to have a viable option available to us.
Clearly
Viva Las Vegas !!!Browns waived/released QB Austin Davis, TE E.J. Bibbs, and K Travis Coons.
Davis was an expected cut, but it is a reminder the team ridiculously gave him a three-year contract with a $500,000 signing bonus and $600,000 guaranteed last September. Barely more than a camp arm, he might not find a new home right away. With Coons cut, Patrick Murray has won the kicking competition.

I know Reality and many others want him...I bet he is on the team by tomorrow.
Great point !!!! Last year Dallas also had 2 QB's on the practice team for most of the year !!!Showers. Even if they sign Austin Davis, there's no way he will be ready to play in the final preseason game. This is why you always bring a fourth quarterback to training camp even if you know he won't make the team.

Austin's played in real NFL games. Sending him out there with the 3rd and lower string players is pointless, especially with him (or whoever we sign) not having any time with the playbook. You gotta rush him out there...ready or not in that last pre-season game. I can't imagine letting him cut his teeth when the games are for real...
Well..I've seen much worse. And just recently. They wasted two years on Dustin Vaughan.
Did you watch the games. The only real reason Dak has outperformed Showers is that Dak
has run with the 1's and has a protective shield with the OL. Showers has had to run for
his life with the 2's and 3's. I wouldn't call that a fair competition or fight for that matter.

Speaking of Vaughan, I saw him play with the Steelers and he still sucks. Can't believe we kept him that long.
Tom Brady has requested a trade to Dallas.I am guessing that every backup QB in the league right now is dreaming of getting cut and picked up by the Cowboys or getting traded to the Cowboys.
The Cowboys will have some options from Austin, to Geno Smith and maybe Bryce Petty, to Sanchez, and some others.
Personally, I would roll with Dak and Showers. I would also put two athletic, scrambling type QBs on the practice squad if I could find them.
In hindsight, it would have been nice to have picked up Boykin. Did Seattle draft him or was he undrafted?
